Interesting comparison. Depending on application there is plenty of choice there, I like how the Pama has more of a bassy almost base station sound to it. Certainly more pleasing to my ears but appreciate the others would probably cut through engine noise better whilst mobile. Thanks again Richard. 73 Frank

Great test Richard I've had good results from speakers that came with mobile phone car kits that used to show up at car boot sales but as most cars come with Bluetooth you don't see them that often 👍

Love that old walkie talkie, it has a proper telescopic antenna on it.

The extension speaker is a much overlooked piece of CB equipment. I find one is essential when mobile and you have engine/road noise to contend with. Even when at home, they improve the audio significantly.

The Pama certainly sounds the best, I've picked up several of that type at radio rallies over the years and they work very well.

The palma sounded pretty good. Something I'd be looking for myself.

A pulled the trigger on a Vertex extension speaker years ago. Never looked back. And as I get older and my hearing detearates the more I appreciate the quality..

Brilliant video. I recently bought a ts 450s. Considering the new cost of this set, the internal speaker is pants!

Very useful and apposite video, as I'm currently looking for a 4 ohm speaker to use with Storno 401 converted for 4 metres.

To get a proper representation of quality, Mr Chippies needs to be on a HF set, over 5khz of audio, he needs an echo, a roger beep and maybe be playing some music off a mobile phone. Just plain talking isn't enough for CB users now days,

ive got one of those oldskool extension speakers. the only difference is mine has a "filter" button!
@ukfmcbradioservicingTango212 жыл бұрын
I should have mentioned the version with the 'filter' button! The unreliable switch connects a capacitor to cut the treble slightly. For the American AM CB market this may well have worked as a filter. On FM radio systems it would just cut the treble. Richard, G0OJF, UK

The only one to me was anyway good was the Pama one, very very disappointed with the Astatic speaker as their mics are pretty good. The round water resistant speaker does rattle and sounds awefull. Great video Richard and good to see a wide range being tested, I will share this with my Facebook group 😇

Difficult for us to say really, as we are listening to the speakers via your mic, then via other speakers/headphones etc. For me, it was the old one that you can't get any more.
