The pic doesn't change when he is refering to the hoof that is cut in half! Not a big problem, though, just google for hoof anatomy, and look at that pic while he is explaining. Thank you for posting this, very educational!

Pinching is the key word. I've seen many color's of the rainbow because of bruising on bare feet. The hooves are soft during winter and rocks are still on the surface frozen steadfast. Many pock marks which are indentations from small stones are evident. Shoeing the horse really corrects this problem but not always feasable because of snow impaction. Cults that bash shoes are really being decieved from the facts. Then sold on other mechanisms or none at all. This explanation is bang on!
