I used an old CB power mic for a donor. I gutted the old mic and put a small speaker and a junk box electret element in the case. I used 2 3.5mm pigtails for the connectors this way I can use it for SSB or plug in a key and still use the speaker in the mic.

Thank you Manual for sharing your printing information. I am experimenting with an electret mic and a 1 watt transistor amp built into an old microphone case. Will use your STL files for the connector. Vielen dank.

Great Video, great Idea! I will order such an Mike, and see if I can build two adapter cables, to connect it to the (tr)uSDX. That way, I can still use it with any other Retevis and/or Anytone Device.

I recently bought a Retevis HK008 and converted it for use with the (tr)usdx per the information on the RADIO PREPPERS KZbin channel. The speaker worked great but the PTT was always at Tx. I double checked the wiring and it was OK. Another newer commenter on RADIO PREPPERS also had the same issue. It is possible the newer versions of the HK008 changed something that make them not compatible with the conversion???
@dl2man4 ай бұрын
That´s absolutely possible, that they changed the wire colors.... I have no idea. I measured it, what was connected where, before I came up with my wiring.
@josephmalek65414 ай бұрын
@@dl2man Hi Manual: I buzzed the two 3.5mm connectors I added per the (tr)usdx pinout to the Retevis circuit board solder connections which are marked. They were OK. Using a voltmeter the PPT lead was at 0.02V without the key switch on the Retevis pressed. The LED was red (I believe the LED was red when powered up out of the box without being plugged in). I could not debug the Retevis circuit board easily(traces running under components) so I put it aside and going in a different direction. Thanks, just wanted people to know this might not be an easy thing.

Another Great Project. I bought the mic, printed the parts (at 102% to get that little bit more clearance from my 0.4 extruder), wired it up using a set of TRRS plugs, and once checked, glued it together - works great, makes a big difference to reception. I previously made the battery holder and the Linked Dipole (that is my best antenna - using the thin 316 coax). Also made lots of end-fed transformers. Great for FT8 and the like, but could use a small amp for SSB in my remote location on the west coast of Canada - any recommendations? THANKS!

Please watch the "Assembly" Section of the video over and over again. I´m showing and explaining exactly where to solder what. Use a Multimeter to find out which solder point is Tip Ring or Sleeve, as this variates from supplier to supplier.

The threads are for the original housing. I´m not using them in my Design, exept for caging them to limit the axial movement.

I wonder if Sunny would be willing to print the part for those of us that are too old to mess with the new printer technology. I may be an extra class but one of the reasons this totally disabled veteran is messing around with this transceiver is the affordability factor. Not that it isn't totally Kool rad whatever, I fantasized about a transceiver like this when I was a boy!! Keep up the good work. I can't convey how much I appreciate both manual and Guiddo's effort and the personal sacrifices being made for the benefit of their fellow mankind. God bless you both. Hi, I´m sure, she would do it if it makes sense. But my suggestion would be: Ask someone with a printer nearby to print it for you. The whole benefit of 3D Printing is: You don´t need to have it printed in china and ship it around the worlds. You take the files and print it in house, or let the neighbors son print it for you.... If you don´t find someone, you can ask in my community for someone nearby you (forum/facebook/youtube), that would be willing to help you out for beer money ;) 73 Manuel; DL2MAN
