Extinct Chuck E Cheese Animatronic Characters! Chuck e Cheese Pizza Time Theatre had become known for its animatronic characters. Since the first Chuck E Cheese opened in 1977 many animatronic characters were removed and have become extinct from the family pizza restaurants so today we'll be taking a look at the history of the Chuck E Cheese pizza time theatre restaurants and count down more Extinct animatronics that you can't find in the restaurants today. The Chuck E Cheese restaurants were bought by Showbiz Pizza Place in 1984 with the full merger happening by 1992. It was recently announced that Chuck E Cheese would undergo their first major renovation in 20 years and will remove the animatronic band. Munch's Make Believe Band will eventually become fully extinct and go down in Chuck E Cheese history.

It's important to note that with Dolli's chest movement, it isn't as lewd or controversial as some people like to make it seem. It's simply a very subtle movement that makes her look as if she's actually breathing. You know the chest movement on the Tiki Room birds at Disney? It's the same concept. It just helped sell the illusion that she was actually singing! It's actually hard to even notice unless you're reeeaaally looking for it.

Update for Pizzacam and Munch Jr.: Richmond has removed Pizzacam due to it being in bad condition, the new one wasn’t enough as it had problems too. Wilmington was closed due to Covid-19, which also means that Munch Jr. is now fully extinct. As of now, Laurel remains the only place to still have the old Pizzacam. For the black Pizzacam, Sheffield also has it.

Ah, the ephemerality of life. It was a treat to be a kid in the early/mid 80s. A field trip to Showbiz circa '83 for a field trip, with a school-issued pocketful of tokens, followed by a visit to a play or some such (the "educational" portion of the trip), remains one of the highlights of my young life. Whoever proposed and approved of that field trip is an absolute legend in my book.

I think one reason why kids have stopped looking at the animatronics is because some of the restaurants don’t even use them. They never even turn them on... depending on the place, but, I’ve noticed that some Chuck E. Cheese restaurants near me hardly ever use their animatronics.

My Chuck E. Cheese’s has a studio c bot, and I’ve seen lots of KZbin videos of the animatronics at other locations across the country, even if the location has the animatronics on and in great condition, nobody ever watches them perform. Only to glance at them for a second and then spend the rest of the time in the gameroom. Kids today just find the bots and show boring or creepy to watch, that’s just sad to me. Any arcade you go to there’s gonna be games, but CEC is the only one with a set of animatronics and show to watch and enjoy

Same here My store has a studio c cappa, and the gameroom takes about 75% of the space. Everytime I go, the first thing I do is go to the showroom and see the condition of the show. There’s never an audience to watch the show like there was in the 80s & early 90s. The only time there’s people in the showroom its for a birthday or Live Show, even then nobody looks at the show

There’s actually a place that’s sort of like that- Smitty’s Super Service Station!! It’s a building owned by a collector, and if I recall correctly, it not only has a Rock-Afire, but also a full balcony stage and the Beagles too!! It’s reservation only, since it’s a private collection, but if you ever have the opportunity to go, I say go for it!! I’ve never been there in person, but I’d LOVE to someday!!

Its their fault kids don't look at them, in the 2000s, they removed the darkness from the showrooms, and took out the walls, so now they're just... there instead of being glorified to a dark room, and seeing the neon lights while people ate. I'd save Jasper T. Jowls. I actually worked at Chuck E Cheese when I was a teenager, and I was on maintenance detail. I remember Jasper broke down the least, and I guess I got a soft-spot for how little we actually had to fix him. He just kept truckin' on through it all.

It seems to me that reason why they're getting rid of the animatronics is because half of them don't work correctly because they haven't been maintained periodically over the years (ala the malfunction video) so removing them from the restaurants seems like a cheaper option than to spend the money needed to maintain the animatronics. So the statement that "kids stopped watching the animatronics a long long time ago." comes across to me as "We're too cheap to maintain our show, so we're going to remove them from our stores." but that's' just MHO

The first time I learned about them replacing some of the animatronics in certain locations with a dance floor, I cried. The animatronics have always and will always be my favourite part about Chuck E Cheeses. It makes the restaurant unique and unlike others, and I was always fascinated by them. I really hope they don't all go extinct.

Today our band went to our old school to play for the kids then went to Chuck E. Cheese’s afterwards. We actually talked about the animatronics and watched them occasionally. We made a lot of jokes about them and had a lot of fun there. It was really funny seeing 90+ Middle schoolers at a kids play place. I hope they don’t get rid of the animatronics. They hold a lot of memories for me including today

I've never been to Chuck-E-Cheese but as a child who grew up in the early 2000's I always saw Chuck-E-Cheese locations around me and saw the commercials. I completely disagree with the guy who says that the animatronics have become a sideshow because I feel like if they put more effort into the animatronics kids would become interested in them again. You can obviously see his point is proven wrong when you look at Disney in the fact that their animatronics are literally the reason why most people go to the parks. Chuck-E-Cheese put a little bit more effort into how they develop their animatronics I'm sure that they would become as popular, if not more popular, than the Disney parks.

Around 1984-85 I saw some characters that nobody mentioned or seems to remember. They were a generic-looking band with human characters (not the typical animal-hybrids), and the band leader was interactive! He would move his head to look at you and talk to you and respond to your comments. I have no idea what they were called, but to me, they were reminiscent of some Hot Fudge Show characters. This was in southeast Michigan at a CEC that has since closed. I posted some pics on your Twitter page.
