“Employee” as defined by the SBA is anyone who was paid a wage by an employer who’s filed a quarterly tax from 941 or if you’re self employed and have filed a 1099. They’ll advance you the loan in leu of obtaining this info later. If you can prove that you have real employees then the loan becomes a forgivable grant. If you can’t prove that you are an actual employer then that money becomes a loan. When you apply, you have to provide your social security number or EIN and address, it also has you sign a digital signature outlining the terms and that you attest that you are a true business with employees. This guy in the video is spouting bullshit and a lot of you who take his advice will pay for it later. The SBA has all your info, they’re pumping money out now but will sort who pays back the loan with interest once the dust settles and you people who scammed the SBA will definitely pay for it.

The law says it’s a grant that does not need to be repaid even if you’re denied. Digging up old SBA definitions doesn’t help if ya don’t compare it to the actual text of the CARES act. This is not the PPP where you have to request forgiveness. I think you’re confusing the EIDL advance and the PPP.

Kevin, I will not reveal my name but I work for the Internal Revenue Service. If an individual submits the EIDL application through the online portal and claims to have employees (more than 1) the SBA will send them an advance = $1000 per employee. Our department then is asked to reconcile 941s against this info. If employee # does not match, we flag it and the SBA and will request further documents to confirm employees (as you may have hired them in 2020) and if no verification is found, you will be asked to immediately repay the amount plus penalty plus interest. Colton K yeah, don’t apply for the loan. I mean you can apply for the loan if you want but the grant is totally separate and free money. They deposited the grant money into my husbands bank account (even tho we both applied separately). First We got a rejection email not long after we applied. After that they sent an email saying we were still eligible for a loan and bc the government extended something, we were also now eligible for the grant since we had previously applied. He just ignored that email. Then like 2 weeks after that, he checked his bank account and found a 2k deposit. It was all really unstructured and random ha. But we definitely opted out of the loan option and just applied for the grant.

@@drbgfsh1 I'm going to take a guess and say that you filled your taxes via paper forms. People who added their bank account information to the IRS database during tax season and received their taxes via direct deposit recieved the stimulus first. It is much easier for them to send them in that order because they have a direct line to your accounts. However, it is not so easy to mass produce millions of paper checks and mail them out. Especially when the United States Postal Service becomes congested due to the massive increase in mail.

New applications for EIDL are not being taken at this time. We expect the SBA to begin processing the applications already received until the funding is exhausted. The SBA also changed the $10,000 grant to be $1,000 per employee up to $10,000. This will allow more businesses to obtain the grant. However, we believe the funds will run out quickly based on the number of applications already received by the SBA.
