At last, extra credit is possible in Blackboard Ultra. Anthology is working on updates to bring a better solution. In the meantime, here's how to set extra credit in your Blackboard Ultra Course.

Are you able to do this in the natural Overall Grade Column. That is the column that sends the grade to the SIS?

Thanks for the video. Some of my students' grades in my added "Overall Grade w/ Bonus Points" column went down. I was under the impression that the bonus can only increase, not decrease their grade? The bonus grade category is excluded from the overall grade (have checked about a dozen times at this point) Wondering if I'm missing something really simple?

This is correct. Unfortunately since this is not a true extra credit feature, it will decrease the bonus point calculation grade. However, since you have excluded it from the overall grade, it will not effect their final score. Try setting the extra credit point value to 0 then awarding the students what they have earned. Instead of 5 out of 20, they can earn 5 out of 0 which tells the gradebook to give them more points, not less.

Can I make this work with weighted grades where the point values are not weighted equally? For example, both a quiz and a test might be worth 100 points, but the average of the tests equals 25% of the grade while the average of quizzes is only 15%.

Is it possible to set the extra credit up with "max points" and then based on what the students do, they will receive up to that max points or all the points? It seems as though the feature give a set amount of points, rather than allowing for a max point.

When I exempt the extra credit category, the value I inserted returns to "0".
