there are very fine pores visible on the grip scales, so those and all the black stuff on the accessories are in fact carved very high quality ebony, not molded hard rubber/ebonite or plastic. you can mostly see the pores as longitudinal shiny streaks on the smooth rim of the grip scales, and a little as dimples on the endgrain at the grip's butt end. it's typical for very high quality ebony to have the pores in its heartwood fully filled in with a hard black resin that is visible as shinier than the wood if the wood is finely sanded or lightly worn.

I'm not much of a gun owner, collector, or user, but I find the things just so damn interesting mechanically. As a work of engineering, guns are among the most intriguing things humanity has ever made, and this revolver just blows me away. Not only is it an example of an engineering feat, but it's also a work of art. I could never fire that gun, it's just too damn pretty. That's a display piece if I ever saw one. I love it.

When I saw the 2 barrels and the 2 parts on the hammer I thought gun would fire both barrels at the same time. However what it actually does is cycle between top and bottom barrels each time the hammer gets pulled back which I think is really cool. Kudos to the original gunsmith for that mechanical design choice it totally subverted my expectations in a good way.

Something I noticed for the hammer that might have something to do with the wing pattern on it, is that it looks similar to a screeching bird of prey, with the top hammer and striker representing the top half of a beak and the bottom one representing the smaller bottom half of a beak.

This a 20-shot pinfire revolver. All craftsmanship is of the highest quality. It is inlaid with gold and plated with gold. This object menaces with studs of gold. On the item is an image of a bird and feathers in gold. On the item is an image of a human face and leaves. The leaves are encircling the human face. On the item is engraved the name "E. L. Malherbe & Cie Liege". The engraving relates to the creation of the 20-shot pinfire revolver in the 1800s.

Very unique. I tried to look at the hammers when you were talking about how the cylinder and hammer alternated. From my vantage point it looked like the top hammer wouldn't go in far enough for the lower hammer to strike the firing pin. That's just from my vantage point, though you had a closer look
