I grow mine in an stainless steel teapot. I soak them in it too. The built-in filter makes the daily rinsing easy. The larger lid makes inspection and removing easy too. And last but not least, I don't have to worry about microplastics etc leaching into the sprouts.

Thank you! Very helpful. Do you ever use cartons from non dairy milk? Wondering if you can get them clean enough? Do you just rinse the carton well or are you sterilizing it somehow?

what about mung beans in a jar? Can that be done?
@LovinglyPlantbased3 ай бұрын
Yes, mung bean sprouts can be grown in and on almost anything! Just bear in mind that mung like being weighted down and keeping them in darkness makes them taste sweeter. If however you just want to sprout them for a couple of days so they have a little tail, then jars are fine. I used jars for mung sprouts for decades 👍🏻

I have a theory about this technique. I believe when they get jammed together like this they don't get a chance to grow long roots, and so the sprouts get fatter. I don't buy milk in cartons but i'm going to try it in one of my smaller ziploc freezer bags. For darkness I have some really black cloth. Of course it could also be the fact that you soak them for a little while when you water them they get plumper that way. So I'm going to try that too.

Sorry, only just seen your comment! Your theory might be right! How did the ziplock bag experiment go?!
