I want to extracting slope (%) for my river and for that reason, I use the Profile Tool. However, I have an issue with the measurement unit of X axis when plotting the longitudinal profile. It is not in meters. I don't why this happen. What I have done are: 1. I convert the projection of DEM from EPSG 4326 to certain UTM zone (in this case, EPSG 32749 - WGS 84 /UTM Zone 49S) 2. I also convert the projection of the river polyline layer to EPSG 32749 - WGS 84 /UTM Zone 49S as well. What should I do to fix this issue? I use QGIS 3.28.9 Firenze

For some reason horizontal distance on the profile is wrong in my case. It's 1.6 times bigger than it actually is, kinda like it's trying to convert from miles to km, although I have meters in project settings. Any help?

yes, basically any interpolated surfaces can be.

Thanks a lot for the great video. Very clear and easy to understand. I got the reliable results using terrian data downloaded by SRTM downloader, but when I used another DEM(.tif) that I already downloaed, the results are different. Horizontal profile is the same, but the elevations are different. May I know why, please?

If you are using a projected coordinate system, typically the distance units are in meters

Once you have the path, you could digitize and create a polyline object, and save it as a shapefile

i dont know if you solved your issue but you can save your line as a dxf which you can then open in autocad or Illustrator
