In the first part I dissolved the base metals and then dissolved the gold flakes. In the first part I used three times more nitric acid than in the other two parts of the video. The first part is suitable for materials containing not only gold but also silver. The second part is very easy. Fast and low acid costs. I filmed the third part only at the request of subscribers. Sometimes, when gold is precipitated from a solution with sodium metabisulfite, gold and some chlorides precipitate, and many cannot understand how to separate gold from dirt, from chlorides. I myself had this problem many many years ago when I had no experience 🙂

Love the videos thank you! But definitely try to boil down your AR until it’s a syrup after you filter it so you can get rid of excess nitric which I can see in this video. You’ll be fighting to get the gold to all drop if not. You can always add sulphamic acid to your AR when done with the recovery, which will denox the nitric and precipitate any lead prior to filtering.

I definitely would have recommended to do either of these two processes as I’ve been refining for the past 15 years and have learned the hard way in some cases on the proper way of doing this type of materials. 1: Use only nitric and distilled water to dissolve all the base metals first, then AR with a little sulphuric acid to precipitate the lead. Precipitate, rinse, refine again and then should have relatively pure gold. 2: If you insist on AR right off the bat, you can use about 40% (can be a bit less) sulphuric acid by volume and then hcl and nitric acid to put gold into solution, but the sulphuric acid will create a passivation layer on the base metals allowing you to put mostly gold into solution and leave the base metals behind. Decant and rinse quickly from base metals, and then filter and precipitate etc.

Hello. I understand what you are talking about. You don't understand why I did this. I said that I would create a problem in the first part of the video. The point of this video is to help those who are faced with a similar problem and do not know how to separate gold from chlorides. Many many years ago I faced this problem myself and after a month of trying to remove the dirty sediment, I just flushed everything down the toilet😅 I've been asked about this topic several times, which is why I decided to make this video 🙂 Thank you for spending some time on my small channel. I wish you good holidays.

Thank you. Your solution of the lead problem is very useful. Thanks for sharing. The yield is enormous! 🤯 Is there a specific reason, that you do not denox the solution, or use the small increment of hno3 method?

I try not to use a lot of Nitric Acid. You can use more nitric acid and complete the whole process two to three times faster, but I try to save on acids. Acids are expensive. Thanks for commenting and watching. I wish you good holidays 🙂🖐

Was not easier to just ad Sulfuric acid or even electrolite, before first precipitation? Or even after precipitation, instead many boils in HCL, jhst AR again, Sulfuric acid, cool down the solution, filtration, precipitation? Just an ideea, nice video!

Indeed, if not doing step by step standard gold extrac[ion, depending of material, many problems ocurs,. I too, lost alot of gold at the begining, because i tried to do job faster, and did not know how to solve diferent problems.

Hi. Thanks for this video. I've a question. Why did you not use reverse plating, with sulfuric acid to extract the gold of you gold plated pins ? Surely cost less than aqua regia. I guess.

The black at the begining was your gold. Why? As the AR was disolving the gold on the surface,,,, it was cementing back out on the surface of the base metals. I have been doing this for about 12 years, seen it all
@akgoldbear7669
@akgoldbear7669 8 ай бұрын
Hello. Something began to dissolve at the very beginning of the dissolution of the pins in the aqua regia. That is, it could not be gold. Periodic table of Mendeleev. Chemistry lesson in 7th grade school. Gold will not dissolve if the weight of base metals is two and a half times the weight of gold. In the aqua regia solution, zinc, iron, antimony and tin will first dissolve, then honey, lead, bismuth and silver, and only after that platinum and gold. Gold will begin to dissolve when the weight of base metals becomes two and a half times less than the weight of gold. It was lead or some other crap mixed with copper 🙂🖐
@rockosgaminglogic
@rockosgaminglogic 8 ай бұрын
Looks like you only recovered 60-80% of the gold. You need to start with just nitric acid to remove the base metals. Then rinse and use aqua regia. Your aqua regia should start as just HCl and sparingly add nitric until the gold is dissolved.
