Sir, I Drag Cape-Open Unit operation and I click OK but there is something happend, the flash unit of column distilation is nothing, so what is solution for this Problem?

I have a question: In the flash distillation unit, is correct that the ethanol is in the top of the column(consider that the boiling point of Benzene is 78 C and Ethanol is 80 C) ?

Hi Juan, Thanks for your interesting question. Yes, it is true in a binary mixture of ethanol and benzene that ethanol should be the bottom product. But the addition of p-xylene as a heavy entrainer to enhance the relative volatility of ethanol over benzene. Hence, ethanol is separated from the distillate of the first extractive distillation column while the bottom stream containing benzene and p-xylene is sent to an entrainer recovery column to obtain benzene from the top of the column. I have some questions: 1) which are the difference between complex coloum and azeotropic distillation? min 11:00 2) why you set total liquid reboiler on the second coloum? It shouldn't partial liquid? 3) My ethanol stream has only 72% of ethanol while you have 96%?

Good day Sir, I've followed all the steps you did in the video, but when it comes to the ChemSep column, I am not able to see the thermodynamics window, and as a result, my simulation gives me an error. Do you know how can I be able to activate such window?

well, I am not sure about it. because I did this simulation in the previous version of DWSIM. I will suggest you upgrade to the latest version of DWSIM and then see whether it solve the problem or not?
