Miranda is smart, professional and well educated, has achieved a high financial position through her work. Charlotte is well educated, rich and also a professional (she took her work seriously until she devoted herself to her family). Samantha, most likely, did not receive such a good education, but she archieved a lot in business, she is smart and she is professional. All three of them achieve a lot in life due to their efforts. They are fighters. All three of them. The only one who falls out of this list is Carrie. She is not a fighter, she is poorly educated, ill-mannered, she does not even try to take care of finances. She is basically not their class. The only thing they can talk about together are cocks... The same goes for Mr. Big. He can choose from women much classier than uneducated, ill-mannered and not even that beautiful Carrie. They have no common topics for conversation, Carrie is not interested in anything except well... him, men in general (but only as sex partners), expensive shoes and cocktails... Sex - ок, marrige - no, no way they can be partners.

I remember this movie (unfortunately). It was a glam red carpet premiere hosted by my mother in laws work. She did not want to go and asked if I wanted to go with a friend. 2 months earlier I had my firstborn, so I was excited to leave the house again. We arrived at the party, champagne and red carpet and everything (I was a little underdressed, because I did not fit into my pretty clothes yet, but hey, nothing would rain on my parade). Then we went into the cinema, the movie started... and my friend and I looked at each other from the first minute like: "wtf is this bullshit!?!". All characters were out of character. Nothing made sense. It was not funny. It was degrading and clueless towards other cultures. We could not believe what we just saw. And I regretted going there and miss out on potential sleep instead... lol. (It was till late and we had to drive there). We still joke around about it sometimes, that is the upside. The beginning of each characters story in the film had such potential. Carrie, deciding if she wants to have children or not. Miranda, finding the work/life ballance. Charlotte, and the pressures of motherhood and Samantha, going through menopause. Rich storytelling about what it means to be a modern woman in western society. AND THEN they scraped all that to 'just get away with the girls' and go to Abu dhabi to flaunt disgusting opulance, privilege, cultural ignorance and xenophobia. Its so cringe and uncomfortable to watch. 4 Obscenely wealthy white Americans mocking another country, whilst be waited on hand and foot in that country. It's so removed from reality. To say unrelatable is an understatement. AND over two thirds of the film arnt even in New York! Which is like the whole point the franchise. The show wasn't flawless and had its moments of prejudice and privilege but its was forgiven cause of all the other pros it had. BUT THIS...this is another level. I completely agree. Even the concept of leaving NY I could forgive (I personally loved the show’s LA two-parter and even the Atlantic City episodes for exploring who the ladies became when they were out of their natural habitat), but it became clear very quickly that this film was not driven by a desire to further explore these characters, but a desire to capitalise on a deal with the UEA (who, by the way, are also homophobic as fuck). I will say that I don’t think this film quite the dumpster fire that some claim it to be. The ending is surprisingly gentle and apt for the series, and the idea of Carrie cheating with Aiden is a great callback to the show. But overall it should not have been made. @@hwr7903 Million reasons why hijab/niqab is oppressing women. Women are not diamonds, pearls or precious gem to be hidden. To call them those things is an insult as those are material items men gives value to, then fight and kill each other over it. In a normal society most men have appropiate manners and know how to treat all ladies with respect with hijab or not. If a woman weares hijab and admits that it's her fault how a man acts towards her, unfairly she is shifting all the blame. Boys should grow up knowing how to treat their mamas and sisters better. The frequent comment that Nuns wear one too. Nuns are a small minority in the Christian community who decide not at childhood, or puberty to wear a habit but, as an adult who is aware of their decision to devote themselves to God. It’s not imposed to them. Hijab ensures a woman's fidelity... but not a man's. Is this anything to be proud of? Wearing a hijab would be an insult to those same women who fought for women to be seen by men as equals first and women second. You say a hijab doesn't stop you from doing things, your right it doesn't. But you only enjoy those privileges because of efforts made by women in history who did not. It can sexualize girls and women. You're covering them up so they don't attract the gaze of men, which makes out women to be inherently sexual objects, even girls as young as 10 and under. Does that mean she is instantly a sex object if she doesnt wear a piece of a cloth on her head? That is just a men’s miserable excuse for not controlling themselves and behaiving like animals without sense. Look up for a clip called Sexual Harassment in Egypt where Awel El-Khayt takes a closer look at the causes and consequences of sexual harrassment and try and understand the mindset of the harasser and what motivates them. Unbehaived man will always find a way to harrass woman, even if she walks naked or like a mummy. Teach men to behave themselves and to control their desires. And this comes from a man. If you are worried about how society thinks about you, aim to change society not yourself. By wearing a hijab you are running away from the problem not solving it. Let's teach our boys to treat all girls with respect, and teach girls that they are not judged based on what they wear, and that they will be loved and accepted regardless. And mostly, men pretending to act all nice and polite because of what you wear. Women should appreciate men who act polite all the time period, and if they only act polite in the presence of a hijab what are they really like? And modesty has nothing to do with clothing, don't flatter yourself to think that you are more valuable then some western women who dress like they want.

@@hwr7903 Islamic/Arab culture in general created what we now know as the “hijab”. In short, God commands both men and women to dress modestly and “reduce their vision,” that is to say not look at each other with lust. Specifically, the Qur’an tells women to lengthen their garments “as not to be insulted,” and more particularly, the Qur’an tells women to “cover their bosoms with their khimar” and to not “reveal any beauty [zeenah] except for that which is apparent.” This is what so many scholars have been arguing about for decades. Which beauty is apparent? Is it the hands, feet, arms, legs, face? What specifically should a woman cover? What is the definition of the word “khimar” in the Qur’an? Many online dictionaries offer different ones. Some believe it’s a garment that covers the hair, some believe that covering the hair was just implied but not commanded. Men came nowhere in all of this, no rulings were ever issued telling men to dress one way or another, possibly because they believed being a male automatically meant you were more pious. We’ll never know, but we’ll probably keep living by their standards for a long time. And how it isn't silly that Allah has not ordered men to wear a hijab, but for women he did? Isn't that hypocrisy? Misogeny? Women always have higher standards to prove their modesty in the society. So when a man doesn't follow the rules he can get away, very hard for a woman to do. Isn't that hypocrisy also? And modesty has nothing to do with clothing, don't flatter yourself to think that you are more valuable then some western women who dress like they want. People are trained to believe at very tender age whatever the way you live and believe is fair and correct. Undoubtedly every one will believe what their parents teach them is truth. Once this belief is stabilized in the brains it is hard to seed another truth in that place. Every one’s opinion is shaped by unbreakable faith sown in the minds when they are young. Encouraging the children to memorize the entire religious book before they mature enough to understand head or tail of it is blocking the freedom of children. Many girls were wearing hijab full-time by age ten or eleven. That is an age when people have little ability to decide for themselves what they believe about religion. Hijab-wearing is only one corner of the subjugation Islam’s God foists on women. It fits neatly into a much wider picture. For example, Mohammed was in favor of genital mutilation, and had sex with ten women in a night, and called women “"deficient in intellect and religion.” The deep and obvious stain of Muslim misogyny colors our understanding of why women wear the thing. Women compete with other females for the approval of males, and the stakes are very high indeed. A Muslims adult happiness depends entirely on who she marries. Islam states plainly that females must obey and please their husbands, and that a husband has the right to punish his wife for disobedience. Also he may divorce her for no reason, and usually can take the children from her when he does. Why don't Muslim men wear hijab?

The second film was so bad taste. It was as if all the actors had signed because of a big wager from the United Arab Emirates. It felt like a long advert to holiday in Abu Dhabi - and gave the impression of female Americans thinking they are a cut above. That's not what Sex and the City was about, particularly the characters.
