Before her childhood sweetheart @JordanBPeterson catapulted to fame, Tammy Peterson was living a relatively ordinary life. Almost overnight, their family of four became central figures in an ever-raging culture war. As if these new pressures weren't enough, Tammy was soon diagnosed with a rare cancer and given 10 months to live. But as she shares with Maybe God guest host @justinbrierley the very thing that aimed to end her life birthed a surprising new faith in God and conversion to Catholicism. So what does Jordan think - and is he next?

Not surprised because In the discourse of The Emmaus Road - Luke 13:30, the disciples eyes were opened when Jesus broke the bread and disappeared and then they believed that the bread and wine were truly Jesus in the flesh and that he would therefore never leave us!! It's a hard teaching but after all his disciples left after hearing his teaching on the bread of life discourse in John, he needed to ask his apostles then if they would leave him also and Peter no and said where would we go as you have the words of everlasting life. Hopefully more people's eyes will be opened soon!! ❤

Denominations aside. The holy spirit was instrumental in my becoming a new creation, with new attitudes and a progressive love for my saviour through prayer, daily surrender to his will, daily battles against sin.... My faith is only strengthened because what the Scriptures said happens has happened to me thru no merit of my own...purely God's mercy and grace to me a sinner When you sense his love in relationship and daily presence denominational label will be something than one doesn't have to hold onto as if one has the monopoly of Godly wisdom over another Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again John 3:5-7 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead 1 Peter 1:3 ❤✝️

@@martinarooney6102 - My vote is the Spirit has been working in him for years...and through him. Maybe he hasn't officially converted. Maybe he is leaving a willful decision up in the air. In a recent interview he mentioned how he operates on the fringes ( or borders? ), which IMO sounds like his thinking is dealing with paradoxes that the masses don't deal with. Not meant in a pompous way, but that's the way he's gifted and is. Makes sense to me, though like with anything it can be yet another defense or distraction from dealing squarely with God re: spiritual re-birth and conversion.

Nice interview Tammy. I joined the Catholic church as well twenty years ago. I practiced native spirituality for close to twenty years before that. I had not very many good things to say about the church in early adulthood...mostly because I believed things I had read, or heard in society. What was different perhaps is that I decided to do the 12 steps. I had worked in dysfunctional settings for many years...much alcoholism and felt like I was on the front lines with no ammunition. It was in that intimate look at the 12 steps that I was able to recontextualize the teachings of surrender. Now I consider surrender, forgiveness and letting go as the same things. A similar thing is my brush with cancer. I also took the doctors prognosis as his opinion and surrender was a minute by minute process back to health.

Wonderful, well conducted and respectful interview. Tammy Peterson's life-long, slowly developing and blooming miracle has influenced her, Jordan and their son and daughter differently but surely, attesting to the power of Most Holy Mary's intercession through the Holy Rosary. Tammy simply, genuinely and so naturally inspires those deeper into the Faith, she inspired me a lot about my own crosses, while Jordan simply, genuinely and so naturally and passionately inspires those who are seeking from further away from the Faith, both illuminating heart and intellect in their very personal, very own ways. A true miracle, a very simple, genuine, natural and supernatural, love-centered miracle that is powerfully changing lives, and mine. A holy family for the circumstances and challenges of today. To the interviewer and to the Peterson Family, for everything, again, thank you!!

@@historian9484 - You might be correct, you might be wrong. I can just as easily see him not going public with it, because he delivers a unique presentation and serves a godly purpose in bringing to Light many aspects of the Truth found in the Bible. Unlike any other pastor, preacher, professor of the Christian Faith I've ever come across. I've seen him asked if he "believes in God" and share his prickly frustration over the question, as if it as simple as it sounds. I don't even agree fully with my fellow Christian brothers and sisters about the Nature of God. All the more that I can relate with Jordan in his digging his heels in over playing to politically-oriented, almost gotcha questions from Christians who want to claim him in their tribe.

Could you have someone discuss this: Here's an easy argument. The body is mapped onto the brain as the SOMATOSENSORY HOMUNCULUS, that means this brain map and the body parts must be "identical" or the body parts don't work and damage to the brain in those areas will cause those parts not to work. If the body parts are working then the map is identical to the parts. This is the cause of "phantom pain" for amputees, the body part is cut off, but the map of the part is still in the brain and they still feel pain in the body part they no longer have. 1. "Gender confusion" may be in the "mind" but it can't be in the brain if it was the parts wouldn't work. 2. Amputations, or rearrangements, ALL have this same problem. 3. You can't rearrange the brain because the SOMATOSENSORY HOMUNCULUS exists, complete and unchangeable, before birth. Gender "reassignment" if possible would have to occur in the fetus before the hormones stimulate the growth of the body parts, BUT this is the cause of actual hermaphrodism and still doesn't change the gametes because the SOMATOSENSORY HOMUNCULUS is still body plan for the original gender in the DNA. This is a simple argument, just look at the SOMATOSENSORY HOMUNCULUS and it's function. It's also a necessary argument because autism is actually a "brain wiring" issue but it can't affect gender and that comparison with autism is the bedrock deception that is allowing autistics to be abused. I've helped people "cure" themselves of "gender confusion" just by explaining this and showing them the SOMATOSENSORY HOMUNCULUS.

We DO NOT ALL UNDERSTAND GOD.... WELL, I suspect some do, but I don't, other than perhaps a handful of thing that might help us to COMPLETELY SURRENDER OUR WILL AND OUR LIFE, TO THE CARE OF GOD. . HOWEVER, I ABSOLUTELY DO KNOW that GOD KNOWS AND COMPLETELY UNDERSTANDS, EACH AND EVERY ONE OF US. FOR ME, MY SIMPLE UNDERSTANDINGS IS MORE THAN ENOUGH FOR ME TO ENGAGE IN A VERY STRONG, VERY DEEP, RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM. AND 'THISIS WHAT MATTERS TO BTH, GOD AND MYSELF. THE EASIEST, BEST WAY, TO BECOME ONE WITH GOD, IS TO RECEIVE HIS HOLY SPIRIT, AND THEN SIMPLY FOLLOW THE LIFE & THE TEACHINGS OF, JESUS CHRIST OF NAZARETH, FOR CHRIST IS TRULY ONE WITH GOD, AND, WITH GOD's Holy Spirit. And, at Baptism and/or AGAIN AT CONFIRMATION, WE RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT, TO LIVE WITHIN OUR HEARTS, AND THE HOLY SPIRIT(?): IS GOD. NOW, FOR ME, THIS STILL, DOES NOT MEAN THAT I UNDERSTAND GOD, FULLY, BUT IF I DO MAINTAIN A CONSTANT CONSCIOUS WITH GOD, THROUGH DAILY PRAYER AND MEDITATION, IS THE CLOSEST I NEED TO UNDERSTAND. PLUS READING THE GOSPELS AND THE BIBLE, AND ATTENDING MASS, PLUS DOING ALL THE THINGS THAT WILL IMPROVE MY RELATIONSHIP. I AM VERY CEREBRAL, SO I AM ALWAYS CRAVING MORE KNOWLEDGE, HOWEVER, TIS ISWHY, I , PERSONALLY DO NOT DESIRE TO UNDERSTAND GOD BY THIS PATH. PLUS, I TRULY BELEVE, AS ACHILD O GOD, WHAT HE WANTS MOST, IS TO HAVE A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM, AND CONTINUE TO SURRENDER MY WILL & MY LIFE, TO HIS CARE. AND SO I DO MY BEST TO START EACH DAY, IN THIS WAY, AND END IT WITHA GRATITUDE LIST..❤️🕊☝️⚖️🌺🐝☀️⚔️🛡🌴🦋🐓🔥🌟🌙💫🇺🇸✝️

It does not mean it’s the only authority, just the only infallible rule of faith. In other words, other rules of faith can err. The love of God moved me to share this personal true testimony. God told me this story is important for the evil atheist demoncrats to hear but I hope it edifies all the super loving Christians as well as my fellow Saints and Trump supporters. I was doing my morning ocean swim in shallow water when I was attacked by a shark and I barely made it back to shore. A large part of my thigh was missing and I was losing so much blood...I knew I was a goner and would never be able to make it for help. But then out of nowhere a surfer showed up, he looked exactly like Jesus, the white version. On that day I witnessed one set of foot prints in the sand leading away from where I laid. I called out..."hey Jesus looking dude...are you just going to just leave me here"? And he said.."do you know how much you weigh...hell yeah". And then I died. But don't worry I came back three days later. Proof! How could I have written this if I didn't come back from the dead? The End. By the way, I did find the Jesus looking dude after I came back from the dead. Ironically his name was Jesus but with the Spanish pronunciation. He was in awe of my miracle recovery from death and has become one of my apostles. I am sure my story will be written about in about a hundred years. Now is a great time to get in on the ground floor...I am sure there is a lot of money to be made.

Thank you for honoring my freedom of speech. According to the first Catholics … Jesus Jewish father in the sky SENT him to earth … knowing full well that Jesus … his only son … was going to be murdered by angry Jews that were indignant and royally perturbed that Jesus (as a full-grown Jewish Rabbi) betrayed his own Jewish family … friends … AND heritage … to start preaching Catholic doctrine. And to add to that unlikely story … (way back then) other Catholics started a different story … that as a Jewish Rabbi … Jesus “followed” the Catholic John the Baptist into the Jordan River to BE baptized as a Catholic … which would mean that John the Baptist STARTED the Catholic religion … NOT Jesus. The lies are out in the open for all you Catholics to SEE … if only you don’t CHOOSE to stay blind-sighted. If those first Catholics were going to start a new religion … they HAD to start those rumors … even though they probably were aware that somewhere down the LINE … the conflicting stories would be exposed and would unravel … to the downfall of the Catholic religion itself. And along with the Catholic Christian religion … goes the hanger-on Protestant Christian religion. Had Jesus been other than a myth used to start a new religion … he would have been a Jewish Rabbi until he died a natural death … among his Jewish worshipers. Unless FORCED with threat of death … religious Jews do NOT start … nor do they convert TO … a Catholic religion. Thankfully … now that hundreds of members of clergy of various religions are leaving their indoctrinations behind ... there is hope for everyone. From the book ... Apostle to Apostate: The Story of the Clergy Project … authors … Catherine Dunphy, Richard Dawkins When you are reared to think of your faith and its leaders as infallible, dissent can be an unsettling thing. This is particularly true for clergy, who have devoted their lives to the subject of faith. I therefore especially hope that this story reaches those clergy who have yet to articulate their doubts. As they struggle through this process, I am thankful that they can look to the Clergy Project as an example of community and humanism as an example of good. As former clergy who have left churches of every denomination, synagogues, mosques, convents, monasteries, and theological institutions, we stand as examples of the reasonableness of doubt and its thoughtful conclusions. I cannot help but think that we offer a compelling voice for why science and secularism do a better job than religion and superstition of answering the so-called ultimate questions.

We have no idea about the power of belief. We call it placebo, faith or will power.. So don't be too quick to cast stones at whatever story you hear.

I haven’t experienced that kind of loss and it’s understandable to question why that happens. From other personal experiences I have learned to search for that answer with faith. Sometimes tragedy is when God reveals himself because he doesn’t cause the death of a child. Tammy only talks about how she was strengthened but doesn’t credit the prayers for the miracle, only God.

Thanks for honoring my freedom of speech. I suggest that to claim a miracle for self is obnoxious ... considering that people who prayed and prayed and prayed some more for miracles were and are continually dying while being totally ignored by this supposed god. I would be embarrassed to claim that I was "blessed" by a "miracle" from a god.

Interesting point June. It's definitely difficult to wrestle with why God heals some and not others. I wonder if what we sometimes consider God "ignoring" us is actually the difficult answer "no." I would love your thoughts on this interview: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hWOkqXeFaaeIgrM

@@MaybeGodPodcast My thoughts on that interview, is that the stories are all fabricated ... as are all stories of gods and miracles ... or punishment from gods. Without the word "soul," there couldn't be any religion. All flamboyant stories are based on what the soul is thinking, and what the soul is doing, and where the soul came from, and where the soul is going after death of the physical body. Fortunes have been made by theologians who taught that the soul is a gift from God, and that women must never have abortions, because abortions offend God's gift to humanity. Evolution of the soul is a huge seller in religion. It means that your soul is ever upgrading and will hopefully soon make the grade of God's "entire" approval of enlightenment and salvation … or … that in the afterlife something horrible could happen to your soul. If you remove the word "soul" from religion, you will not have anything but ground zero. From the book … THE QUOTABLE SKEPTIC: Bits of Wisdom From Notable Heretics and Apostates … author Jehovah Yahweh “Assure a man that he has a soul and then frighten him with old wives’ tales as to what is to become of him afterward, and you have hooked a fish, a mental slave.” ~ Theodore Dreiser.

@@MaybeGodPodcast No soul … no afterlife. Just imagine the burden this poor man was under, by being certain that a god exists that was judging his “soul.” I read a story in a book that was written by a neurologist, who told of a Protestant minister, that in turn tried to end his life by gunshot, but failed ... and how when he regained consciousness, he said he was so ashamed. His words were “I couldn’t even do THAT right.” Now from the book Suicidal: Why We Kill Ourselves … author Jesse Bering. “Unless you’ve been there yourself, you’ve no idea the balm such a thing can offer to a secretly suicidal soul who, his whole life long had been laboring under the unlikely premise that he had a soul to begin with. What a burden! Without a soul, there’s no afterlife, there’s only the theater of the now.” And now from the book … Apostle to Apostate: The Story of the Clergy Project … authors … Catherine Dunphy, Richard Dawkins … Leaving a job in ministry is unlike any other career change. Not only are there feelings of isolation, but there are also fears about how to communicate one’s skills in ministry to another Job. Most members who had already left church work detailed a long arduous journey to find employment outside of religion. Many, if not most, of them returned to school, seeking degrees in psychology, social work, business administration, and computer science.

@@MaybeGodPodcast Non-believers do not invest faith in the theory that a creator of the universe exists. Nor do non-believers invest faith in the existence of an afterlife. As a result, non-believers will be concerned only with the suffering that occurs to self and others in this one lifetime. Those that believe in the existence of a Creator, will be concerned with the suffering that occurs to self and others in this present lifetime … and … with the horrible suffering that is certain to afflict evil souls in the afterlife. Which theory do you believe is the best way to teach impressionable children?

The Rosary is a powerful prayer. We ask Mary to pray for us, while we meditate, ponder, pray and think ever more deeply about the major events in Jesus's life. It's a beautiful 20 minutes or so (depending on how many of the mysteries you choose to pray), that allows for deep prayer and contemplation. 📿

Dumb question. Person or persons asking this question does not understand the meaning of the word "miracle". A miracle is that extraordinary thing happening in the world of nature, that happened outside of the natural [should not have been expected] verdict of nature, when it was least or more characteristically not expected to happen, given the evidence. That is why we call it a "miracle". Does a meteorite crashing into Santorini in the north Mediterranean precipitating a building a submarine tidal wave swell that ends as a Tsunami that devours and Egyptian mean that it really wasn't a miracle, at the moment that a "Miracle" was needed. YOU are limited by the natural world of natural physical phenomena, and because of that reality you will NEVER really know; you are finite.
