I’m a JLR service advisor and the new SVRs are really nice. They sound freaking phenomenal in person and they drive very well.
@beri232 Жыл бұрын
As a service advisor…. can you elaborate on reliability for the newer models? Cuz the previous stuff truly has been garbage.
@Fastzeefo Жыл бұрын
@@beri232 So they generally have gotten better but all engines across the JLR lineup still have their issues. The 4 cylinders are plagued with coolant leaks from the turbo feed lines. They also stretch timing chains and destroy camshaft sprockets. You’ll get a nasty timing chain rattle on cold starts and when they’re really bad it’ll do it on every start. It’s not consistent, some will be dead reliable and some are just pieces of shit. The supercharged V6s and V8s (same engine in the 24’ SVR by the way this is the last model to use this engine as it has been in service since 2010) are plagued with coolant issues…BAD.. They mainly leak from the water pumps, outlet pipes and rear coolant manifold pipes, you have to remove the supercharger to access them so it is expensive to do. It’s not a matter of if it will fail it’s WHEN it will fail. Other than that they honestly aren’t bad engines. The superchargers start to get noisy when high miles but I rarely see catastrophic failures with all of the engines across the board. The V6s and V8s will come in blown up because they’ve leaked coolant for so long that they overheat and cook head gaskets but again it’s rare. They still have infotainment glitches across all JLR models that’s something that won’t change. Boy that was long winded, that being said I would still happily own any SVR preferably the older ones because they sound the best.

So we had the dealer price it out...and he came back with wide eyes and said "this is not like anything I've seen before." The RETAIL price of the 3 year, 36k additional mile warranty was nearly $10k! They were willing to discount it to $6500....but the price of the car was only $32,000! Maintenance is not that bad and parts are reasonably priced if you do some digging for them. Like most cars today, these vehicles are all made with nuts, bolts, screws, and push pins which is a good thing! You can work on them yourself if you are handy at all and have a wonderful driving experience. In 40k of ownership I have replaced a fuel pump, vacuum pump gasket. Everything else has been regular maintenance.

It's nuts that JLR is still plagued with the stigma of its past as unreliable rust buckets. The modern JLR is no worse than the German equivalent for reliability, and even better in some aspects.
@Onecrazybird Жыл бұрын
Completely agree - I own 3 JLR products - all rock solid - 2 2023/2024 BMWs - M4 Compétition and an i7 - both had issues on delivery. I have never had an issue with any of my JLR products (2 Range Rovers, Ftype, Project 8, Defender)

I had a 2021 X6, then got a 2023 F-Type in June 2022. Then discovered the F-Pace SVR videos on YT - and had to have one! Ordered fall 2022 and delivered to me May 2023. Love it and exceeds expectations - especially on the highway. It's an SUV version of the F-Type, with better infotainment from Pivi Pro. F-Type is sunny day garage queen (so always sparkling clean) and my favorite vehicle ever. F-Pace is rainy day ride and/or hauler for items that dont fit in F-Type. Highly recommend both - especially F-Pace over the German options.

Wife has the 2020 version of this. 44k trouble free miles so far aside from a 360 camera issue on delivery. Brakes needed to be replaced at 35k miles, expensive as rotors needed to be replaced as well. One of my all time favorite cars.

I need to test drive one of these some day. I hear even the supercharged V6 F-Pace is quite good but yeah, this SVR is an angry, snarling beast so thanks for giving it some screen time.
@Uildo Жыл бұрын
Having the V6 supercharged I can assure you that this is the absolute sweet spot (great sound and acceleration)! The car is so good and fun I wouldnt even know what to ever replace it with…it’s reeeeally hard to find anything to complain about except that the sportiness comes at the price of a slight harsh ride for an SUV - but then again, it is astonishing how light an confident this drives around corners. Also, the cargo space is huge compared to the competition.

I sold my f-type r and ordered an f-pace svr in brg for my newborn as a dad wagon, just love that AJV8. It’s been surprisingly good, interior and tech is premium German, if not better in some areas. The ride was fine for me, given it’s on steel springs, jag know how to tune a chassis on those bumpy British b roads, that they can get a 2T suv to ride better than a German sports sedan is impressive, but that was in isolation - picked up a new Grecale trofeo for my wife and that on air rides noticeably smoother and handles flatter, it has none of that secondary roll you get in some German SUV’s on air and every RR product. I have an rs6 performance coming next year to replace the svr but these videos make me question keeping it - I’m going to have to remove the opf and tune it to get it to sound right

Gentlemen. Yes absolutely! Stunning! Has been around for a while, the face lift has just elevated the Jaguar. It is 'under the radar'. The Range Rover SVR is the usual choice between the two. Beats the Lambo into a cocked hat! And yes better than most of the German rivals. [Not sure if the Jaguar salesman would agree, but buy a pre-owned face lifted version and you have a future classic. Amazing piece of kit! About to be 'killed off'. Thank you for a true review.

I own a 2023 C8 Z51 loaded yet had to buy a new loaoded 2022 Jaguar Ftype SVR and it is a beast with 550hp AWD. That exhaust note is a beast. The ride is a blast and have blown the competition off the road. I get more was inspiring loos in my white SVR then I do in my C8. Love it that I had to buy it new because I’m keeping it regardless of JLR reliability. What a blast to 4drive.

The reason no one buys this Jag or the Maserati or any of the other sporty SUVs is because auto journalists have ruined the marketplace. You guys are one of the few journalists who are willing to make videos of these "outlier" products, but magazine comparison after magazine comparison, and video shootout after shootout and the only luxury vehicles ever talked about are the Germans. They'll be 10 videos for an Audi, BMW or MB for every 1 video for any of these other products. It's ridiculous. I love you guys and love that you are one of the few outlets who haven't completely sold out to the German brands and you're willing to make videos of these other products.

They seem to be making some of the most underrated vehicles. On the plus side, that means can pick up used Jaguars for a small fraction of what they cost new. I picked up a used F-Type and have really enjoyed it. It was the most car I could find for the money.

What a load of bollocks. Had my F pace Svr for a year now. No problems whatsoever. I have owned many supercars and sports cars including, Porsche, Maserati, Aston Martin, Ferrari, Mclaren, BMW and Mercedes etc. performance beats many of this in a 5 seater practical car. Does everything. Up there with my most favourite cars I’ve ever owned.Just because the odd one has a problem 98% will be fine. All other top Marquee cars also have problems some more than others. Jaguar bad reliability is hopefully a thing now of the past.

Love Thomas' T-Shirt! We always hear about how poorly Land Rover's hold up but, when I have looked on-line for fun, there are a lot of them with higher mileage, so they must be spending some amount of time on the road and not in the shop. Hopefully, this would be true for the F-Pace, too.
