I think that driving range should be measured like fuel economy, but instead of city/highway/combined mpg, do warm/cold/combined range in distance. Have the warm test be in sub optimal conditions and the cold test be 32F or below to be fair to everyone in every climate
@swaroopajit2 жыл бұрын
The amount of money it would take to make a temperature controlled test facility like that probably puts it out of the minds of manufacturers. And also keep in mind the speed at which the car is driven does affect the range, so the testing would now be a set of warm highway, cold highway, warm city, and cold city.

Thanks for another awesome video, guys! After watching this video and looking through a couple of other resources, I made the decision to get the 2024 Mach E Premium AWD long range. I had to take the car in to Ford for a minor sensor issue, and got to drive the 2023 Mach E GT as a loaner for a couple of days. And boy do I now regret not getting the GT. To be fair, I’m not a crazy car enthusiast, and I don’t get into the technical nuances. What I can tell you is that the GT was a lot more fun to drive, feels significantly punchier on the acceleration, and the 5-second max power really wasn’t an issue, as I’m never stepping on it for more than 5-7 seconds anyway. It felt equally as comfortable, and I didn’t notice any real difference with the suspension from a sensory standpoint. I like the look better, and just enjoyed driving it so much more every time I hoped in. The lesson this reinforced for me is that it’s super helpful to listen to experts and reviews, but ultimately, I have to look at my own needs and real-time and experience and make a decision from there 😊

Does Ford make a profit on the Mach-E? If the COVID-19 pandemic wasn't hard enough on automakers, they're now being pummeled with skyrocketing prices for materials. The prices of raw materials have increased so dramatically that the Ford Mustang Mach-E is no longer profitable.Jun 16, 2022. This is not sustainable for Ford as they are currently $138 billion U.S. dollars in debt 2022. Ford Motor cash on hand for the quarter ending June 30, 2022 was $36.700B, a 10.57% decline year-over-year. Ford Motor cash on hand for 2021 was $49.593B, a 0.74% decline from 2020.

Hmmm. I like a lot of their videos. I don't always agree and this is one I can't agree with. Thomas is trying to make his case but offering very little logic, and James seems to be struggling to affirm him but really just not wanting to disagree. I've had my GTPE since November and it's the best car I've ever had or driven. And that's a lot of cars. I also have a 2016 Mustang GT supercharged making 900 rwhp, which is very scary fun. This is super composed fun. I throw this one around curves at full throttle and never feel like all 4 wheels are going to come loose. The rear wheels kick out giving just a little oversteer and the front motors just keep pulling it around the curve. It's amazing. It's heavy but it feels so nimble to me. The magneride is fantastic. The only two gripes I can see anyone having are 1) 5 second limit truly sucks, and 2) no electronic tilting telescoping steering. Maybe the absence of cooled seats but most women hate them because I think it feels like aunt Flow is visiting. I tested a premium AWD for a while and it did not come compare to the GT at all, in handling or speed. I almost wanted to cancel my GT order after getting out of my Mustang and into the premium. I'm so glad I didn't. The Mach-E GT is just a blast and so practical. That said, it is not my road trip car. I have a 40 amp charger in my garage amd always leave on a full charge. I have a GT PE, and you're right, it's not worth the upcharge vs a Premium or something like the EV6/Ionic in pure $$$ ROI. But, is any "performance" trim period (not limited to just EVs)? It feels kind of bizarre to hear you guys say those words out loud, and then talk up the GT500 which is even more expensive than a GT PE and only slightly faster to 60 in perfect conditions... Which is faster in the snow? Which is more confident in the rain? Which would you rather drive 1000 miles if you can't wear ear plugs and have to pay for fuel? Is a GT500 really $35k (USD) better than a GT anywhere other than a track? The 5s thing sucks, it shouldn't be there. Does it matter 95% of the time? No. The car is dangerously quick at any speed south of 80mph. It's honestly scary how quickly you can go from 30->70 mph. Comments around DCFC infrastructure might be valid in CA, I don't know. It's not like that in the US, in settled areas. Yeah, the infrastructure sucks, it absolutely needs to get better. It sucks even more when you get off major travel corridors, but that is a locale specific problem. For most people, in most cases, it is fine. If you drive long distance a lot, especially to the hinterlands, it totally makes sense that an EV isn't the right solution for you. But is a 13MPG GT500 a better solution? The point of this car, like every other performance trim, is to push the envelop, and put a smile on your face. It is more of a pure performance compromise in great weather compared to something like the GT500, but as a four door performance wagon I'm not sure that's the right target either. If you have the space and budget to have a bunch of cars, the GT PE probably doesn't make sense if the goal is to have specialist workhorses, but that's not how the majority of consumers prioritize their disposable income. Obviously, I'm biased here, but I also enjoy having space for 4 adults comfortably, space in the back for my kit, and being able to walk anything that doesn't have a Tesla badge from the light in any weather :). Keep up the great work. There are very few channels where I will click on every video with the confidence that no matter what, I will learn something, and be entertained. Kudos.

Now that the 2023 prices are out consider that the standard GT is $3600 more than a premium and a GTPE is $8600 more if your gonna buy a MME the GTPE is worth it for the better suspension

I really want someone or an organisation to come up with an actual proper real world way of authentically testing the range of EVs on a full charge. I’m sick and tired of manufacturer’s deliberately manipulating and “massaging” the figures to help them boost performance figures on their product.

I recently checked out the 2022 Mustang Mach-E GT Performance. Initially priced at $88K CAD, these vehicles are now listed for $44K CAD as we near the end of 2024. However, there are a few issues to consider. Firstly, the battery performance can drop by up to 50% in cold weather conditions. Secondly, the basic warranty only covers up to 3 years/60,000 km. Due to these reasons, I decided not to purchase one.

Even with current gas prices being a factor paying $80k for this while you can get a comparable SUV for $60k or less ( Subaru Ascent , Infiniti QX50/60, Hyundai Palisade , Durango , ETC) and have $20k in the bank for gas for the next 10 years .

Normal Mach e feels heavy when cross shopping the id4 for me at least when I drove them back to back the same day.

Do those two cars also weigh similar?
@CruiseControl12 жыл бұрын
@@Daniel-dj7fh very close in weight. Both average 4,700lbs however can range depending on single motor, dual motor, extended range battery. Right on an id4 goes from 4,500 to 4,950lbs. Mach e goes from 4,400 to 4,900lbs.

The mach-e has a battery buffer like most other non Teslas. So 100% is not actually 100% charge. They refer to it as “usable battery capacity”
@jamespaul25872 жыл бұрын
Tesla's have buffers also, although they are quite small

After driving and "enjoying" a 2020 Bolt for 2+ years now and owning a C7 for the fun stuff I've concluded that EV's are simply an "Appliance", if you just look at them that way then enjoyment can be had in just a different manner. The rapid acceleration and quiet is fun and when you want the "spirited" and "Soulful" aspect you go get in your C7 and get your fix.
@independentmind852 жыл бұрын
This is exactly how I feel. I've had a Bolt for a few years along with my Sonata N Line and I definitely view the Bolt as an appliance that I drive.
