For the canvas I would add another color. It doesn't need to be a bold color, it could be an off white just so it doesn't look bland or a blank canvas when in the wrong angle. If possible you could get even more "chunky" with the paint. With the spatula/paint knife you add more paint and try not to smooth it out to add more texture. But if you like how the texture is already idd add a off white or somthing soft color to tie in all the colors you have in the room. Maybe a light brown or if feeling bold...black or gold.

She reframes what “badass” means, to me. The amount of positivity, drive and poise, its kind of like witnessing a master class in living your life on a mission. Yes her makeovers are gorgeous, and shes incredibly skilled, but its seeing her work ethic and graciousness in the midst of everything behind the scenes thats just DAMN.

Absolutely beautiful! I’d probably do a round mirror on the other wall to break up some of the angles, since you’ve got the square pillows, the square table, the square canvas, and the angular chairs. Absolutely stunning, can’t wait to see it when it’s done!

I’m loving how these spaces are coming together! I think if you keep the canvas wall green and then paint the side wall where the doors are a white, it can help with anchoring and distinguishing the space while maintaining the color palette and not overpowering the space with all the green. I can’t wait for the next phase of this reno!

I watched a few vids back when you were starting your DIYing and I just got into my starter home.... Now finally want to look into making my house a home (even if for a little while) and loooove the upgrades, realness, and excited to see the more recent vids with full transparency! But this one really has me planning because my dining room is similar (bleeds into small kitchen, no extra dining- but patio door and half wall in same place). Seeing things that I had also thought of, like the vanity credenza as seating, lets me know my ideas are headed in the right direction! I know Holly designed all of this series though so props to her too; just as a pure beginner after some failed paint choices, I’m so nervous I’ll hate whatever I do next 🥵. Anyway, long comment to say: Thanks for giving this beginner some home that there’s a lot of progress in my future, by sharing yours!! 💕

I would do like a black and white gallery wall maybe mixed in with some gold details and some artefacts instead of the one art piece on the main wall. It would give wall more character and talking points. Or you could do a wall of decorative plates or some other kind of decorative items. The single canvas in white looks kind of plain and off-center. Then a round mirror with a wood finish or some narrow black shelves on the small wall would look good with few decorative things. I'm sure you both will figure things out as you go... Loving the light fixture, benches, cushions and table decor...

Rachel, I get so excited when your videos come up on my notifications. I love how you show the good the bad and the in-betweens. That is realism. Things aren't always so perfect as I see on other videos. I do agree that Holly's taste is stellar. And your execution is so helpful. I hope that you will include detail on how you will be making that corner blend in as you put the little bar situation together. often those are the things that stop me from such projects.

I can’t wait to see a full fully finished walk through with everything finished! Also for the empty wall, I think a nice textured moment would be nice; maybe a macramé wall art, something white and angled to bring in some geometry. Simple enough to DIY and light enough to add a hook/nail and take on/off when needed! Great video once again!

For that blank space maybe thrift some basket lids in circular shapes like wicker or even small wooden bowls in different sizes and hang them up. The circles would nicely offset the canvas, it would add more texture instead of another flat picture AND they would be decor that’s unique to the space since they’re thrifted!

I have a trick for stirring paint without a stick and I've been doing it for so many years with great results, saving time and mess. Before you open de can, take it by the metal handle with both your hands and lift it between your legs. Then what you want to do is reproduce the movement of a paint shaker by shaking it forward and backward so your hands (therefore the handle) move but the can is just balancing in the same spot. This way, the paint is kind of folding on itself inside the can, bringing the bottom to the top and so. Do this vigorously for like 10-15 seconds and there you go! Hope this helps (if it's clear enough 😂)

Do some simple lines with a dry brush in the green and brown (like the wood and leather) tones over the canvas. It will bring out the texture. Leaving most of it white. I like it a lot! Love the progress you make!

Suggestions! 1, Paint the trim of the canvas art a different color. Preferably dark, so that the art/frame pops against the light is color of the wall. 2, With all the seating this room offers, a bigger dining table may be needed. Unless of course, this table is expandable...then never mind! Other than that, this room is coming along beautifully! Can’t wait to see the progression of the rest of the house!

Love how those wooden benches came out! Reckon on that side wall you could paint something abstract right onto the wall. Triangles or something, pull in shapes from the cushions, like a minimal mountain scene. Subtle colours, not too big. Or full abstract, DIYDanie did something similar in her entryway recently. Would stop it being plain but wouldn’t be too distracting or get in the way when you’re sat at the table.

Everything you did is amazing. Continuous creativity has created perfection in the design and arrangement of the rooms. I have tried to find and order decorative products on the website: daisycorners.com/. Unfortunately, we cannot find the designs in the article, but the products here are also very beautiful, the price is not too expensive. I am satisfied with them. The rooms have completely changed.

On that blank wall some shallow wall shelves (stained the same color wood as the drawers on the benches) and some plants, etc. would bring some nice interest and dimension.

I live the idea of a circle mirror! Also I do my best work in the middle of the night so I get the midnight truly, Netflix, painting vibe 👌

I think a circle mirror on the empty wall and the canvas centred to the table/light would look nice!

Since the light fixture and the canvas have so many clean, straight lines, maybe do some sort of abstract art on the blank wall that has curves instead of straight lines? Possibly something black and white to match the pillows. Also, I LOVE that paint color with the furniture. It compliments it SO WELL and adds a pop of color without being overbearing and stealing the show. Great job!😍

Ohh that’s a great suggestion! Something a bit abstract/funky here could really pull it together 💕

Big round mirror on that left wall! And paint the trim black of the painting? It will pop more! Love the green color on the wall! Its subtle and cosy! Not too much at all 😍😍

Great inspiration Rachel! Suggestion on the blank wall: small natural wood shelves with gold pots & plants, random or a step pattern. Would compliment the gold in the light along with standing out on the green wall. Would still look good on a white wall. Thanks for sharing as always, looking forward to more home projects.

Definitely shelfs! I think the mirror will give the same effect as adding another painting. With a shelf you can add some green, small pictures or an small mirror.

Looks great! For the other wall, maybe two or three brass wall hangings if you don't want to use another canvas - to tie in the metals in the chandelier

How I wish you could do virtual makeovers too. Adding a round mirror will do, Rachel. It will break the rectangle-square scheme and will make the area look more spacious. :)

On the empty wall you could do a plant wall feature with either wall planters or a faux succulent/plant frame.

Nice. I think a mirror would be lovely in the blank wall. It would reflect the light or candles nicely.
