Been gardening for over 40 years….put wood chips/bark down as mulch in your beds. It will basically become compost. Add every year for about 5 years & stir b4 adding more bc, each year you will add less. Once established, your beds will look very groomed. But, you have to keep weeds at bay for maintenance. Plant perennials you Love, so you don’t have to spend so much $$ every year. Add annuals for pops of color each year. Good Luck !!

Hey Kayla Are those bushes in your front yard, Azaleas? If so, try using 'PINE BARK" MULCH, it provides "acid" which azaleas need. Just a thought, I used it in my 'azalea beds" and it made a big difference.

Those rocks!! They’re back! I don’t like those rocks, especially for a patio. I don’t think people at a wedding will want to walk on rocks in nice shoes. I don’t like walking on it in raggedy shoes. Pavers would be so much more beautiful and functional.

When you get ready to do your front beds.. Trust me Rock is a bit more pricey but it will save you soo much time effort and money in the long run..invest in the thickest weed fabric you can find. You can get a cheaper rock for the main filler then they can use another color for accent to sprinkle on top( not mixed in because you want ALL your good rock on top where you can see it). My sister in law got her whole front done and delivered for about $200. Have them dump it on a tarp close by.

When adding dirt, mulch, stones etc to landscaping I have found it pretty economical to go to places like mulch and more located 2226 hwy 34, Newnan Ga 30265. For instance 1 yard of mulch is only $36 which is much less expensive then purchasing bags of mulch dirt etc. and they deliver. You will need a rake, shovel, wheel barrel but it is worth it.

Hey just a little tip from a gardener, if you’re planning on planting wildflower seeds around the bird bath you should probably remove the weed fabric so the plants can fully root out. Unless you’re popping in plants then all you gotta do is cut a little hole in the fabric and pop the plants in!

What about using Lava rock, I had that in my some of my beds. I used black instead of red. Columbine is pretty too, irises. Order from Michigan bulb, Brecks. Lilacs, Rose of Sharon. Myrtle is a nice ground cover for maybe in the back it has purple flowers. 💜

I can certainly appreciate all your hard work. I’ve been gardening FOREVER, so if your seeds don’t do as you hope they will, remember perennials are the way to go. Last spring/summer I chose perennials for my containers……..then in the fall I put them in the ground. My flower beds are blooming like crazy. Plan to do the same this summer. Also, remember bulbs. I ordered 200 from Breck’s. My new cutting garden is beautiful. And, they guarantee them. So…..don’t get overwhelmed. It will be beautiful. Just plan for the future. Best wishes to you guys.

Hey girl glad to see you back. Couple of tips. You need to dig those weed roots out because if you don’t they will continue to come back. Don’t shake the dirt off because some have seeds or bulbs at the ends and you could just be shaking in the bed defeating the pupose. I have picker that looks fork with only two picks on the end you dig dug twist and plucks out most of the roots or I use a shovel if it’s tons of weeds. Keep doing this and mulching you will see your beds have less and less weeds. Also I suggest you buy and mix you’d beds with perennials and annuals if you want full bloom beds for the wedding. Seeds will take too long.

Hello, you two! The yard will be luscious and beautiful in time for the wedding. If you start veggies now with seeds, you can grow squashes,zucchini, melons, and stuff like that. Peppers and tomatoes may take a while, so just buy the starts. Same with some herbs. Here's some tips to make your transformation eco-friendly. Use recycled cardboard instead of plastic as a weed barrier, avoid using toxic weed herbicides since they seep into the soil and into water and are causing harmful effects for people and animals, try to buy soil or mulch by the truckload at a local compost provider indtead of buying it by the bag which creates more plastic waste and use bricks or rocks to line areas instead of plastic edging.

So excited for this series! You have such a gorgeous lawn and I know your going to make it look incredible for the wedding! Smart to do that so you spend the money to upgrade it but it will last for a lifetime, not just one day! Couple of things to note; just make sure when you re mulch the front area you put down plastic lining so weeds can't grow through again, and also, I'm sure some other people have already commented this in past videos, but just wanted to make sure you guys look into if that is ivy covering the tree's in the backyard. It looks super pretty, and I'm sure you definitely want to leave it for the wedding, but I know long term some types of ivy strangle and kill tree's causing them to falling hazards. So would be good to get an tree arborist out there to make sure if you haven't already.

If you’re looking for an easy flower to start by seed zinnias are the way to go. They’re beautiful, there are a ton of varieties and colors, and they take off quickly. I agree with others about the hydrangeas. I also think peonies are a must though they only bloom for a short time they are the prettiest of flowers. My wedding flowers were peonies and hydrangeas. 🤗

I tell you, you two motivate me, your moving right along with your projects. Your yard is huge!! After the wedding I'm envisioning tables and chairs a med. sized stage (built by Marcus) LOL for entertaining family and friends, singing , dancing etc. oh don't forget solor string lights. Hey my wife and I went with full rubber mulch from Sam's. Not a blend. It will not blow away and the color last for 12 years as oppose to 12 months with traditional mulch. Sam's have the cheapest and biggest bags. We went with the red. We have already had major winds and storms and the mulch did not move an inch. You will love it. trust me! Blessings!

Hi you guys have done and are doing such a great job. Get supertunia bubblegums or just supertunias from proven winners. Salvias, Roses. sunflowers of course sunflowers, hydrangeas. If you get perennials they'll grow back every year, annuals are temporary but a quick planting for celebrations and beauty

I’m so glad you enjoyed your Spring Break, but even happier to see videos on the next DIY project. Unfortunately, I have no suggestions for flowers or veggies as I am perplexed about what to plant in my own yard. Thanks for providing your experience with the mulch. I was thinking about getting something similar. You and Marcus have gotten a lot completed and I definitely look forward to seeing the entire backyard transformation.
