This.... Most people dont know it...I didnt either for decades. There...3 variations of the blues scale....b5..........b5 , maj7......maj3, b5, maj7 X = option note R.................b3...x....4.....x......5................b7...x....R transfer to Major R....x...2,....x.....3...................5....x....6..................R This........it's a different scale (you have to learn it as a different scale) You can mix it later...but it's going to be magic playing over Dominant chords. it's playing the Maj3 and b7...and getting that dominant sound Once you get it under you fingers...it's totally cool The DOMINANT pentatonic. R...x...2.....x....3...................5..................b7..x....R Notice the 5th degree..It's mode's interval is this R..............b3.........4............5............6................R ( dorian ish) MAJ6 You can play the dominant over the Mixolian You can also do this.......Melodic minor = Dorian maj7 it's II chord/mode is Dorian b2 Lydian dominant melodic min Mix b6 dorian b2 You can also play the Pentatonic minor over the II chord. dorian b2.................. The 5th degree mode over Aeo b5 R..............b3...........5................b6.........b7.........R if you play pentatonic min over II dominant penta IV dominant penta V you;ll still be within all the notes of the melodic min ...lol

landing on the blue note sounds better if you omit the 4rth and the 5th in the scale...
