I really enjoy it when you talk about nutrition aspect along with value for money. Sometimes I am less interested when people are just about ‘how much I can get for $1’ vs how much quality I can get for a dollar. Thanks for sharing 🥰

Hi Cristine! I work for dollar tree, and our prices have been 1.25 here since the beginning of December. (I'm from California just in case that matters lol) but I can tell you even though the prices have changed they are bringing in a lot more quality items, items we never used to carry before, more seasonal items and so on and so forth. It still has value in many different departments. But ofcourse just like any store shopping around is always a good idea. Different stores have different prices and that's just how the competitive world of retail works. Dollar tree is also sister stores with dollar general. And atleast here in my state they have never had 1$ items so I wouldn't say that they are necessarily better. Employees also do not get any kind of discount for working there. So we are in the same boat as all the customers. And in the way the world is now for anyone reading this, please be kind to your local retail workers. We are short staffed everywhere and doing the best we can. 🖤 I hope you have a lovely day, stay safe and I hope I was able to pass on some good information! P.S. jokes about the name change have gotten so old so fast 😂

I'm sorry to hear you're upset. It's not an easy transition for anyone. Especially those who live on tight budgets as it is. But we are very lucky the corporation decided on only a 0.25$ increase instead of a dollar. Which they very well could have done. Unfortunately the new norm for the world is steadily increasing prices... It was only a matter of time until it effected the dollar stores too. :(

I also have worked retail for a billion years. Thank you for your comment. In Florida we are also very understaffed. And I work two jobs. I work in a restaurant as well. I've not had a day off in 17 days now. It's rough and customers sometimes make my day and can even put a smile on my face. But these days I've had a few customers who have ruined it for me. We really are doing our best and sometimes working more hours than is healthy. Please be kind to everyone. Its a different time we live in. And if you are looking for jobs they are everywhere. Please apply

I know some people will balk at salmon from the dollar tree or certain other food items. But, if someone has to stick to a strict budget for whatever reason, it's a better option than many other things. No one said Dollar Tree was the equivalent of Trader Joe's or Whole Foods

I have bought the Dollar Tree salmon; it was pretty good for frozen. I will buy it again. I liked that it is the perfect portion size for my daughter and I, (I get a package for each of us). And if my daughter, (15 years old) wants salmon for dinner and I don't or vice versa, you are not thawing out a big piece of salmon that could go to waste. Our local dollar tree has gone up to $1.25.

Thank you for this, and thank you for the plug for food pantries. I used to work at one, and recently our employment situation has made it necessary for us to use that service. I am really grateful for those who donate food so that people in need can have healthy options. I was really humbled by receiving fresh produce and other foods that have nourished my family while we work to get back on our feet again. There really is no shame in seeking help when you need it.

Jamie I sincerely hope things are getting better for you and your family. I am so grateful that you and your family were able to get the help you needed. It is heartbreaking to me that as one of the wealthiest countries in the world we still have a need for food pantries. We need to do better with helping our neighbors. My grandfather saw the need in my community when I was young. He started a program with other local farmers to donate their fresh fruit, veggies, milk and eggs along with a certain amount of cows, chickens and hogs to be butchered to help those in need. He also teamed up with local hunters and during deer season they would donate the deer they killed to be processed and used to feed our community. It meant so much to me and knowing he’s been gone almost 25 years but the community keeps his legacy alive by continuing his work warms my heart. None of us in the community had much but we all gave what we could and nobody went hungry. We even made deliveries to elderly, disabled and people without transportation, nobody was left out if we knew there was a need. No questions, no hassle, it was an honor system and with it being such a small town we all knew who truly needed it.

My Dollar Tree in Southport NC has made the price change sometime between the beginning of December and mid January. I honestly am surprised Dollar Tree as a whole waited so long to make the increase. I feel like over the last few years they've started carrying better products and offering more. Even at $1.25 most things are still well worth it. On the other side of that there were things at $1 a piece that I didn't find worth it so it's just really all about your own judgement.

I recently found your channel and have enjoyed watching you! I'm in Utah and our Dollar Tree is still $1. We're good friends with a few managers at different locations around the Salt Lake area and they've said they plan to raise prices around March/April. We're doing under 40g carbs/day, so we don't get a whole lot there. We do love the pork rinds, bottled olives, riced cauliflower, bacon, and block cheese. When I have a "treat", I splurge on their Jennifer's Garden Spring Rolls. I LOVE them!

The almond milk at the dollar tree is great! It tastes the same as the name brand unsweetened almond milks, and is a WAY better deal! On Amazon (where I bought it before) I was paying $12 for 6 cartons the same size, so would definitely recommend getting almond milk at the dollar tree👍🏻

Prices have gone up at my store in Texas. My favs to buy are the frozen fruit and veggies. I also like to carry the protein and energy nut packs in my purse for a quick snack as well as in my get home bags.

If you toast your quinoa in a dry pan before cooking or rinsing, it gives it a nutty flavour and crunch. I toast it for 5-10 minutes, rinse it for ten seconds and then cook with rice as normal. It is so good.

For those of you who are experiencing really expensive eggs go to dollar tree. If you don't see the eggs in the cooler ask the cashier. My dollar tree has to keep them in the back to prevent other stores from buying them all and then reselling them at a mark up. Also, dollar tree also gets in seaweed (3 packs for a $1), pesto, whole wheat pasta, turkey bacon, turkey sausage, and other healthy options. My biggest advise though is go slow when you are there because you never know what is going to be available. Every dollar tree sells different items so if you find an item you like make a list then order it online and have it shipped to the store. Yes, some items you have to order a case but other items you can order smaller quantities.

The canned vegetables are usually cheaper at Walmart or a grocery store. They might be worth it to save in gas if you have a DT near but would have to drive further to Walmart or other grocery store.

I live is South Texas. In the first week of this month the dollar tree in my little town and the surrounding towns went up to $1.25. Honestly with the prices rising everywhere else I was surprised they waited as long as they did to up the price. My town is the big town in the area, and I do have other options, I still buy quite a few food items at the dollar tree. I keep a stash of almond milk in my pantry. It is good, not the best, but good. I can froth it for dairy free lattes. Flavor wise the pepper jack cheese is my family's favorite. In my area all of the fish (sans the shrimp) is the best price per pound.

I live in DC on the Maryland line and go to the Dollar Tree in Maryland near me. As of yesterday, Sat. Jan. 22, it was still a dollar. We also have a Family Dollar near me and even though they are owned by the same company they are so different. I like them both.
