I also had a “cheap” wedding, but honestly it was awesome. The second to last time I saw my grandmother ( she lived far away, and was ill so I was trying to go back to visit as much as I could) she sternly insisted upon me about $400. I tried to refuse but she put her foot down that it was for my life I was building with my fiancé. I sat on it for a while unsure exactly what to spend it on, until I decided it would pay for our wedding. It took one week to plan and take place. The money covered our licence fee, the officiant fees, a simple dress for $40, a bouquet of red roses and a cake from Safeway, fixings for burgers and salad and a case of beer. We held the ceremony in a friend’s backyard by a lake with my mom, 3 friends and our 2 dogs in attendance. Reception was a barbecue and fire on the beach. It was pretty special. We’ve been married 6 years now. I miss my grandma

What do you call a charger with nothing plugged into it? A receptacle. Leakage current exists, but it’s so small that it’s not even going to register with your power company (for a phone charger, anyway.) if you were actually pushing enough leakage current to get charged for it, your stuff would be getting hot. So, I'm actually a cabin cleaner. A lotta the airport stuff is true. Fun facts (from a United cleaner): - All the blankets are cleaned. Any open blanket bag is taken and all blankets are taken off the airport premises and to another location to be washed. - When we find things we turn them in (as much as we can). It's hard to return AirPods and small stuff. Most of the time it gets lost. While we turn things in, they also get taken before returned by other forces (not trying to name names). Often it'll sit in lost and found and if unclaimed for some time (I think 2 weeks to a month) then it will be auctioned off. - Loose change is not uncommon on planes but, from what I've found, it's mostly pennys to quarters. Sometimes one dollar bills. It's very rare to find bigger bills and lost tens or twenty's. Oh-! And those blue blankets that United uses are so thin, you need maybe three to four to feel warm. They do have nicer ones on the wide body's (your 767/777/787). In first class they have thicker blankets and proper pillows that they give people which is super nice! Though unfortunately not everyone gets the nice stuff on the longer flights

The show giving realistic estimates (for once) of how much she might be saving by being cheap was hilarious. The $6 a year saved by using boiled pillows as coffee filters took me out

And being a flight attendant, you have to be well dressed. Nails. Hair. Makeup. All of it. So the money she doesn't spend on food and power and whatever else, she's spending on her job. But I know flight attendants and you can make a lot of money doing that.. I'm just genuinely surprised she's such a cheapskate?

At least in this episode they are saying she saved $300 a month on her water bill by working away from home or something ridiculous like that. These numbers actually seem legit for once.

Love seeing these comments of people making the most of their wedding without spending a bajillion dollars on it. A lot of people I know are deterred from getting married because they think it’ll cost them thousands but you can easily have a very nice wedding for hardly any money. Mine was a bit more than some of these peoples (about $1200) but we saved tons of money on little things that would’ve added up. We had about 80 people there and my mother, grandmother, and sisters cooked all the food, my sister made us a lovely cake as a gift. A lot of the decorations were hand made (winter themed) by a close family friend, my brother DJ’d; it was fantastic. Surround yourself by good people and when the time comes they will do what they can for you. At the end of the day it’s your wedding and you get to decide how to do it, but just know it doesn’t HAVE to be crazy expensive if you have a good community of people supporting you and utilise their talents.

The unclaimed baggage store that they went to has a website and you can buy stuff and they will ship it to you. Most of the clothes are brand new with tags still on them. I am a customer of theirs. 😀

I paid $40 for my small black dress I wore and the $60 for us to get married at the courthouse. I literally spent $100 to get married. This people aren't cheap, they are entitled. They feel like the deserve to get things they want however they want at whatever price point they give.

With the gas prices right now, boiling those pillow cases would be more expensive than buying coffee filters. At least, where I live.

How much is gas where you're at?? I'm in NZ and I get it the cheapest in probably a 50-100km area and I pay $2.30/L or what would be $9.20/gal NZD. It's crazy here atm.

@yourmother98342 жыл бұрын
Oh man that would be awesome. Some switches are attached to outlets but it’s usually for a lamp and the switch by the door so you can turn a lamp on as you walk in
@LaurenTheorist2 жыл бұрын
I'm Canadian and lots of homes have a switch in the front hallway that controls an outlet in like the living room so that you don't have to walk around in the dark, much like this previous comment said, but I have never heard of every outlet having its own switch. That's really neat. Does it actually save power and money? I didn't realize leaving a phone charger plugged into the wall would use up power.
