Yess Thankyou! It’s so dangerous to get second hand car seats. We have roadside throw out days in our area and when throwing out car seats you’re supposed to cut the straps so people won’t take them before the garbage truck comes. I always see uncut car seats in people’s piles and I’ve literally started carrying scissors in my bag on council throw out weeks and cut the straps myself because it’s that much of a worry and a pet peeve to me too.

Used to work at once upon a child, when we got in baby toys and equipment like strollers, cribs, car seats, or playpens we were required to check for recalls. If the item had a recall or was manufactured before a certain date we couldn't sell it so we would have to throw it out . But, first we had to take a box cutter to it and destroy it so the dumpster divers would be less likely to use it .

It varies depending on the type of medicine and state laws. Depending on what it was the company would take it back if it was OTC but usually if they wouldn't we would put it on clearance the month before it expires after that some could be disposed of via trash etc. Worked in a pharmacy as well

As a paint seller this is why we have a shelf in the back on paints that were mistakenly colored, like when you chose the wrong size or base in the machine, we always shake it and paints a but on the lid so cheapskates can see what it looks like if they don't like what we offer for free... well then they will have to pay to get what they want like everyone else. And yes people ask for free samples with no intent to buy anything every now and then, most leave when they can't choose the exact color they want The most common mistake is choosing the wrong base so a white base for a darker color wich normally creates a brown color (some of those look pretty nice but most are ugly) or a transparent base for a light color wich creates basically no cover (some of those can be saved for a darker color if you just check the recipe and makes adjustments). Other bases are pretty noticible when you open the lid so you won't make that misstake. If you make the wrong size you just have to calculate how much more paste to put in or if you added to much paste get a can that size and put in the amount for the smaller can then mix the 2 cans together (if it's worth it, it depends on if it's a color we can sell or our painters can use themselves)

For Christmas and Birthdays when I was little (early 90’s) my parents would take us dumpster diving. We’d find and repurpose toys or cheaply fix them. Find clothes and shoes. It’s actually one of my fonder childhood memories, if that days anything lol. It’s illegal in most states nowadays.

It's electric yo. The ones by hand are maybe that price. Anyways, buying used electric isn't that bad bc they have closed systems which means no milk passes go into the actual pump. Buy new flanges, etc (the parts that actually touch your breasts and pump the milk); save on the pump.

My grandfather was a dumpster diver.. in a way. He did trash collection for a really big city, and his route was typically in a fairly wealthy area. He would grab whatever was thrown away in perfect condition and bring it home. If my grandparents could use it, fantastic! If not, they would help someone else with it. ...but digging through a dumpster for nearly-expired prenatal vitamins? ... medications? Car seats? Absolutely not. There are things you should spend money on.

But I was just touching on the expiration date issue because people don't realize that for meds....it actually doesn't really matter if its past its expiration date...it may just not work quite as well. You don't have to throw it out though.

I think it's the earliest possible date before it could start going off. So the majority of the time it's still good but 1/1000 of the item could be bad and that would cause big legal issues for the company
