There is one feature missing in beamng that would drastically improve realism to me, and that is thermostat. Engines , when starting cold, IRL, increase the RPMs until achieving working temperature. The increase is not dramatic, for my 2007 Ford Focus (piece of trash) it would be ~100-150 RPM higher idle. About 5 minutes idling in winter (~15 degrees centigrade) and the engine is warm and idle drops. My carbureted scooter has an electric enricher which is composed of a tiny hole that is open inside the carburetor, and the enricher is a plastic covered stick like shape, sitting outside the carb, with wax inside it, covering a small tube that plugs right into that hole. A cable that is connected to the AC circuit is heating the wax, which in turn pushes the metal pin, that plugs the "extra fuel" hole in the carb. The AC circuit is powered only when the engine is powered (and generating power by stator), and not related to the 12v DC battery. I need those things in beam :(

Set a low environment temp and run without radiator. Also, you may test the picollino, since it's aircooled Edit: Actually i did that myself, it doesn't matter the temp, it seems that the cars won't start and run because they can't get enough air. If you set it to -270ºC and start to climb, there will be an altitude that the engine will refuse to rev up and will "lock" itself, it seems that Beam has a air density simulation that gets all haywire with those extreme temps. I went as far as running the engine only on nitro haha

Hmm..... temperature on Beam bugged, or maybe you'll need to see the temperature of the engine/oil because you might have to let them sit after adjustment..... because I live in North Dakota..... Once it hits 0°F and you don't have a block heater things start to not want to start, -10°F after sitting for 3hrs and you'll be sluggish starting, -20° and no block heater or battery plugged in? It's either going to have extremely limited voltage for starting, or your oil is so viscous you're struggling to turn over. I've had vehicles that won't start at -10°F, -30°F is usually where they don't want to do anything if they've sat for over an hour with no assistance.... everything else at -30° is great too, infotainment systems struggle to show their screens, stuff is tight and doesn't want to move....so yeah temps definitely bugged on Beam, or they need to "soak".

@100GTAGUY Жыл бұрын
@@JoNJamEz1 is it your first new bike ever, big bore or small bore, 2t or 4t? Could just be strong compression and if it's a bigger engine and you're new to this it's gonna fight ya tooth n nail. Some newer 4t bikes come with hot start kits installed, make sure that's not accidentally engaged when cold. And if you're kicking it over like 70 times and it's not firing, up try turning the engine over slowly until you feel the compression stroke fighting you. Keep pushing till the pressure let's up slightly, and then jump and kick into the starter using both gravity and muscle power. If you've got an injected bike leave the throttle closed unless specified to crack it in the manual, these newer bikes don't like throttle on startup. Carbed engines don't mind a smidge of throttle, particularly two strokes. But it sounds to me you're having a lack of fuel, spark, and or also compression, I'd consult your manual for further information. Could be something as simple as the spark plug being too loose, or something silly like cellophane on the air filter from assembly.

The real problem is that -280°C is less than 0° K, so it’s simply impossible to do, every molecule is absolutely static for thermodynamic’s laws and that’s why engines destroys as soon as you start them Moreover, I think beamNG let starts cars because you start them with engine already heated and only few seconds after changing the temperature… You should wait 10 minutes between every change and then try again

@kt2492 жыл бұрын
That's actually wrong. If you set the temp in the game, let's say -10C and fast forward game time you'll see that cars take much longer to start. I remember watching a video about that; some youtuber tries to start cars around that temp in the game and they take a lot of time to start. I think what's happening here is although air temp is low, cars are not yet cold enough to have problems starting. Wait for a long enough time and try this again, you'll see different results.
@Avetho2 жыл бұрын
Given the diesel rough idle, they likely have a placeholder for engine temperature simulation, but its not worked on yet. When programming anything, you generally put in framework and placeholders for the things you want to add, and you come back to them later after you've finished fleshing out the core components. The Beam devs have done most of the core pieces so now they're visiting the smaller things that add even more realism to an already awesome game.

I think the only reason the cars had trouble with -270 temps is because the air density was severely changed. The required fuel from the injectors was way out of the scope of what they could provide so you were running way too lean and the engine efficiency went to crap. If you look at the airspeed indicator in an app you can see that they do model the air density. If you set the temp below 15c and drive at sea level, the airspeed will read higher than the ground speed, varying depending on how much lower than 15c you go due to increased air density flowing over the "sensor". Temps above 15c have the opposite effect.

Did you enable the start at environmental temp feature
@Gabriel-he6ih3 жыл бұрын
Oh shit, there actually are cold starts in the game now?
@redninja1258 Жыл бұрын
The fact is that cold in a desert is all sorts of janky

I live in the desert and literally just got six inches of snow today, might hit single digits tonight even lol. Not all deserts are near the equator like the Sahara, and often times they're quite cold come wintertime.

What a video. Its just always the same engine start
@0rangeGhost49 ай бұрын
you should've warm the engines to working temperatures to see if there is any difference on that lowest possible temperature between cold and warm engines

Unlike water, gasoline does not freeze at zero degrees Celsius, but only at around minus 60 degrees. Diesel begins to flocculate at around minus 22 degrees.

5:27 when every rule of physics goes too far, but not too far like temperature.

I hope my 2007 Skoda octavia 2.0 Tdi would start that well too in -200°C 😂
@HoweDoYouDo19993 жыл бұрын
In this case -100 degrees ain’t exactly doing shit because those exact same cars are starting like nothing 😂😂
@thesoloquener32393 жыл бұрын
importance of 0.5 degree lol
@EverythingAwesomeTech Жыл бұрын
It would be cool to see the cars actually drive in their minimum temperature limits!
@beamng33legit3 жыл бұрын
Wait how did you Chang the temperature
@jessesteinbar3 жыл бұрын
How do you know if the engine is at the environment same temperature or at a higher temperature?
@Aviation_lad_123 Жыл бұрын
The limit is -271 if enemy further engine will lock up AND you need to respawn the car and then it will affect it
@Bennyboysgarage_3 жыл бұрын
I find this hard to believe I had to start my car once at -27 and everything was so slow and it took a while to start. It’s a gas car. So these cars starting at -250 and firing up no problem seems very unreal
@abeef93682 жыл бұрын
Almost as if its a game
@tylermatheson43764 ай бұрын
Ok but how do you change environment temperature in game anyway?
