PAPER IS MY NEMESIS. Just sat with my husband and made him go through every recipe he’s printed for the last 17 years! Tossed out a trees worth. Before Christmas, said hubby said I had too many Christmas decorations. I did clean a lot out and donated them. Donated close to 150 children’s books to local reading program. Children’s toys, my son and his children went through everything and the rest is getting chucked! I’m older…so I have been in this home for over 40 years and limited years to accomplish this clutter so when I look at stuff that’s been hanging around in my attic, UNTOUCHED, for over 40 years…I realize that enough is enough and suddenly that big black industrial grade plastic bag is my friend. I love you and your show. I’ve just found you and you’re stirring up good ideas in this house 😊. I’ll let you know how I do later.

I’ve been trying for a couple years to fix the mess up. It’s bad; most people would consider me a hoarder. My cat died suddenly and I want a kitten but it’s not safe to bring one home. For the first time I seem to be able to sustain progress. Wanting makes all the difference. It amazes me how nice it is to walk down the hallway without being concerned about tripping

Pregnant mom of soon-to-be-3 little kiddos, and we have 3 dogs, 2 cats in a very small space. my husband works out of state, and my house is literally the tidiest it has ever been. The easiest it has ever been to clean, and I’m doing less work than I have ever done in my entire life, from my teenage years on. I’m not going to say it’s effortless, but it’s functioning, and i couldn’t have done it without you, Cas, and TYHB.

Wow! You go, girl! I wish I had heard of decluttering and Cas when I had littles. My house was SO SO hard to maintain, and I usually failed. Hubby and I had 8 children .. the oldest was 14 when I had the youngest. It was tough. Small house and TOO MUCH STUFF!! Hubby is a pack rat, we didn't have much money and I felt horrible getting rid of anything that might have "value". People would give us giant bags of clothes and things and then I had THAT to go through. Ugh! Fast forward 15 years and now things are much better. I still have a lot of clutter in the closets and drawers and shelves, though, and hubby still has "ideas" of how things should be done (can't stop storing things on the floor!), but Cas has motivated me to keep at it!

DID IT! Grabbed a trash bag. Cleaned out & rearranged a big cupboard and found lots of expired flours, cereals, old baking stuff, etc. Also moved some dining supplies that fit much better elsewhere. 🙂 Now when I opened the doors, all my baking goods are grouped together in open, labeled bins that I can easily pull out AND nothing fell out on the floor OR on me!! Also I know what I have now. Yippee --- I won the skirmish - - - I ❤ WINNING!!!

I am mentally, spiritually and emotionally broken. I lost 2 adult children in 2 years and gained custody of my grandchildren. My house is as much of a mess as my mind is. I finally had enough and started to purge. Today I have started my granddaughters room because she is becoming a hoarder. She lost so much losing her parents at a very young age that she holds on to stuff like her life depends on it. This video popped up just after I emptied the contents of her room to my living room aka the sorting centre. I am definitely saving this video because, Cas, it’s like you are directing talking to me. I have decided that NOTHING can stay in my home unless it has value because I definitely don’t have the capacity.

Watch A Hoarder's Heart. In recent months she discovered that she felt like she was throwing herself away whenever she decluttered something she found significant (she's got a ton of stuff), much in the same way she was bullied growing up. It helped her separate her feelings from stuff that really was just random stuff. Good luck with the grands ❤❤ Sorry for your losses 😢

Decluttering for me is a stress reliever BIG TIME. BUT I can only do ONE task at a time. I have been working on my house since April 2024. I been ruthless in getting crap out, trash out, donate out of this house. Back to the task, I get overwhelmed by the mess decluttering causes. And I have a hard time staying focused on the one task. But I have gotten the kitchen, dining room, Living room, pantry, master bedroom and main bathroom and attic done. The sewing craft room is work in progress. Still have guest bedroom, half bath, family room and laundry room to do. Over winter break I took 4 car loads to donate, 7 trash bags to the dump and shredded 8- 33 gallon bags of paper. I'm on a roll.

My best friend is a Scandinavian minimalist in contrast to my maximalist home. She laughs at me every year because my perpetual chorus is that I intend to get organized. I don't say that any more. I loved your 5-minute challenge. Now, I try to tackle a small corner and not just move piles but get rid of or find a legitimate place for everything in that 5-minute corner. In the last 3 days, I have filled 4 small boxes of paper going to the recycling bin. With chronic fatigue, I have to force myself to get on my feet, but my mantra this year is, "I can do it for 15 minutes or, ok, 5 minutes." I finally mailed my last Christmas gift today and am determined to be on time with birthday cards this year. Thank you, Cas. You have been a big help!

Cas, I’ve been decluttering for 8 years. I have a capsule wardrobe… minimal shoes and bags. I buy new underwear, loungewear, and socks once a year. Every year in that weird space after Christmas and New Year, I throw out my year old underwear and socks and bring new ones in. I edit my wardrobe. I’m not perfect and it’s been a long process and I’m not done yet but my mindset is there. Now I’m dealing with my 10 year old son’s clutter. You know those art and science projects and his hobbies. Those things stay in his room and I declutter his notebooks and broken color pencils and crayons at the end of the school year. We can do this friends. We deserve to live in an uncluttered home. Happy New Year, Clutterbug friends. Wishing you all a happy and healthy 2025!

Love TYHB! It has changed my life. This will be my 4th All Day Declutter. The first one, I just watched like any other KZbin videos of yours; just watched all day. The second one, I knew what to expect so I worked alongside you all day and made progress. The 3rd one, I planned ahead and made a list of areas to work on, like coat closet and bathroom vanity, etc, and made a lot more progress! Now, headed into 4th one, I started my list last month AND have been throwing easy stuff away already. I have completed some of the areas on my list that were supposed to be done on the 18th! I keep adding to the list , but keep decluttering the areas as I go. (No worries of me running out of areas yet, but someday I will). This morning when I was getting ready for work, I got rid of the 3 open bottles of mouthwash that I don't use/like that expired in 2019, 2020, & 2022. When you are actively being aware of spaces you could improve, and you have strengthened your decluttering muscles, it DOES become easier. I am so grateful for All Day Declutters. Thank you, Cas. ❤

My husband taught me something interesting about the difference between a cricket (me) and a ladybug or butterfly (him) is that it’s not just about putting it away fast or finding it fast. He said if he puts things into smaller categories that he doesn’t remember where it is, but if it’s in a larger category he remembers where to find it and doesn’t have to open all the small compartments looking all around to find it again.

That’s great! For me, I simplify this same idea in a slightly different way: how much friction can I tolerate to put something away/get it out? That decides how I’ll organize it, where I’ll organize it, and so on! I can only take 1-2 levels of friction (I.e. 10 moving something aside to be able to 2) open a drawer in order to 3) move more things out of the way so I can then 4) open a box to get the thing. Too much! So I can 1) have something in a drawer (with NOTHING IN FRONT OF THE DRAWER!) and then I can 2) move something out of the way to get the thing. That’s the level of friction I’ll tolerate to get to the item, or else I’ll just sit there *thinking about getting the item without actually getting it!* 😂😅 Sad but true! But once I realised and acknowledged it, it changed how I organize, how I prioritize how much I have (because it will directly impact having to move things out of the way!), and how much more I get done as a result of not coming up against so much friction! So happy you and your husband are finding concrete ways of making your own needs clear to yourselves and giving yourselves the tools to succeed! ❤

Guess what I did Jan 1… I rearranged my bedroom, switched the furnitures around all by myself. I’ve been wanting to do it for more than a year now but the first 2 attempts I did I had my husband to help me lift the furnitures but he kept saying it won’t work so we stopped in the middle and put back. I’m realizing Buddy system doesn’t work on us. It feels sooo much better (also decluttered!) And then I found a KZbinr who does Feng Shui and found my exact bedroom dimensions and it is the best bedroom setup. No wonder it felt so much better! Should’ve done it and enjoyed it more than a year ago. Kicking myself for that but high fiving myself starting my New Year right!

Thank you for your straight talk - I’ve been listening and shifting my mind set for about a year now, and my house is getting easier and I don’t miss any of it or even remember what was in those 100+ bags/boxes that left my house, and that is all awesome, but today you spoke to my heart - you are right I’m still valuing stuff over myself - I didn’t really understand the trash bag before - I thought since my house even before I started looks fine at first glance - I had the capacity to sort/fold/document (for taxes) each item - not that any of that is bad, but right now I just need to throw it out to change my mind set, to show myself that I am more valuable - instead of ‘loving on’ that stuff I need to love my peace of mind and throw the stuff in the trash!!!!! Thank you for your passion and energy you put into your work - I’m sure at times it feels repetitive but I am so grateful!!!!

Unfortunately it was near the end of the time I had help on a regular basis before I finally watched enough of you and Dawn to finally have the real mindset change. I’ve discarded tons of stuff and I still want to get rid of 75 per cent of what’s still in my house.

I was working on my kitchen today. I want it to be functional. I have done 14 cabinets and 13 drawers and I was coming up to the Tupperware cabinet. I have so much from that brand and haven’t ever used it. I could feel decision fatigue hitting and I stopped and know I will start with that one in the morning. I know which ones I use almost daily and which ones I moved with in 2021 and haven’t used at all. I told my friend earlier today that I need to be ruthless with it and as watching this replay I heard you say the same thing. I feel like I’m moving in the right direction.

Hey Cass, I just signed up for another year for 10$. Here’s my “stayed till the end” funny! Still tired from tail end of flu, I kept passing out then re-winding video till I ended up having YOU in my dreams…what a trip…and honor! You & your film crew were about to work in a 1/2 block of quaint townhomes (probably my dream 4 future). I was home tossing all dried out pens & my son was using battery tester on loose batteries-lol. My house is still cluttered due to a toxic divorce 4 years ago. He left a mess to my son (who’s on the spectrum mind you) and I. 😠 We’re in SW 🌵of the states, I want to live in Canada. A cancer survivor, it’s on my wish list. YOU’RE the reason I’ve kept hope alive~thank you! Happy New Year girl, to you & yours. You’re a genuine, beautiful encouraging soul who has made a difference to so many!! ❤🙏

@@MomCat03 so glad you have God in your life. Just read Ephesians 3.20 the other day. I stuck this verse on my son's book box when he was in Grade 2 because he said, "I'll never be able to read." @ thanks for that. I read it and it’s comforting. My son & I actually use the Bible app every day and do a reading/prayer/ Bible plan..then we go onto the kids Bible app. I was 8 years Catholic school myself, now attend a non- denomination church and it’s such a good feeling to know that I was able to give that to my son. We both got re-baptized last year…(some days I feel I need another dip) lol…we are leaning into our faith and turning our house and lives around this year!🙏❤

Love the vid, so true if you have time for 1hr video you have time to pickup that garage bag and spend 10 minutes filling it! I've been decluttering on and off most of my life I still have a ways to go but KZbin channels like yours finally gave me the inspiration last year to really get down and dirty and just get it done. Like I said still have a ways to go I have all the things that I plan on selling in my basement, that space and the garage is the last places that need the most help. I'm not in the basement much so it sitting there until Spring isn't bothersome to me, the rest of the house is organized and tidy. Now that I've mostly done the decluttering I'm on to the next obsession getting fit..lol.

It's like the size of a dresser, I'm not joking. It's been driving me bonkers for over a year. I started with one drawer, took things out one by one and almost started with my old method...a million piles. then I said, NO, do it the Cas way! I did, it was AMAZEBALLS!!! I got done with that drawer, put my keep things away that went in other spots, etc, then tackled the second drawer! It felt SO good! THANK YOU!!!! I can now find my floors, I have cleaned out closets, cabinets, bins, baskets, etc., but I’m still left with, what to I do with this stuff left over????? I’ve been collecting for 42 years. TODAY, I’m canceling what I planned to do. Getting out black garbage bags, and after my hubby puts the bags in car TONIGHT, I’m going to donation place in morning to get rest of it out!!!!! Then I have someone scheduled to clean Monday. Then . . . Tuesday night when I host bunco I can breath a sigh of relief and know, it’s finally gone! I don’t need the bin of gift bags I was given 15 years ago that I’ve never used. I don’t need 30 rolls of wrapping paper I was given 20 years ago that I never liked. I don’t need the crock pot, or three, that are new that I never use because my instant pot can do same thing. Thanks for giving me the push!!!!! My grown children never wanted it, so why am I storing it???? I’ll stop ranting 29:38 now, but THANKS!!!!!

Having a disability, spending even 15 minutes moving around around is impossible, so now I have a Dopamine Disco; I have a 'happy mix' on Spotify that I put on and every time an adbreak comes on, I get up and do something, ie put an item in the bin, rehome something or put something in the charity bag. You’re absolutely correct Cas. I have had a lifetime of junk and little things keeping me from moving forward. I’ve always thought that each room of the house should have a trap door in the middle of the room….cleaning up and being organized would be so much easier, you just push everything into the center of the room and “poop”. It’s all gone. I’m struggling and it’s getting harder to do now because of physical limitations. I’m going to use your energy (if possible)

I feel the people who nitpick about putting stuff in the trash are looking at it wrong. It will all end in the trash in a few hundred years! Do you really want your home to be the interim trashpile? I try to keep this in mind. Also, I don't remember who it was, but I saw a video or article a while back that talked about giving yourself an amnesty period to get the stuff out however you need to. Then work on being more discerning and accumulating less in the future. I wrote "AMNESTY" on an index card and put it in the middle of my fridge door so I see it every day.

What do you mean by turning the hangers backwards?
@dsmith9796
@dsmith9796 9 күн бұрын
@@CarmenRivera-lg2xg , if you turn all your hangers around on the rod - backwards to the way you would normally place them on the rod, then as you use an item and return it to the closet you hang it the normal way. After a period of time you check your closet to see what you've worn. I find this technique useful this time of year because once it's time for spring clothes I look back in my winter clothes to see what I actually wore and what I want to discard. Usually those items with their hangers still hanging backwards are items I need to donate because they have just been taking up space but I'm not wearing them! I've done this before - it's a simple technique but very helpful if one is wishing to declutter. I usually do it again in July or early August to help me decide on summer clothes that need to go. Hope this helps. Diane in Denmark just posted on KZbin about how to do this if you want to check her channel.
