Gorgeous gorgeous girlies priortize their mental health… which is why I’m doing a little stress-reducing prep for the holidays NOW by decluttering and organizing my hostessware!
On ANY given week (not just the holidays) we can be serving 10-25 people in our home, and getting my collection of serveware under control and re-organized is on the top of my to-do list!

Hey! My name is Natalie and I love sharing about my life as a mom and homemaker/homesteader. Around here we embrace the coziness in the chaos and the magic in the mundane. I believe simple joys and a home filled with love (not STUFF) are more important than "keeping up with the Joneses." I'm glad you stopped by! I hope you find some encouragement and gentle motivation and a cozy corner of the internet that's full of peace.

I'd love to see a video where you walk through one of your menus and talk about the ins and outs-like what you feel like is something you can that can wait to be warmed later etc. I know you've talked before about your menus but I guess what I mean is I would love to hear about how you schedule it out, why, what things you feel like are still good but made a few days prior etc. I guess like the logistics of your menus?

One thing I do to avoid getting stressed about prep is making a to do list with approximate times!! I start with the time I want to serve everything and work backwards from that. I make as much a couple days early as possible. Easy pumpkin pie recipe (everything in a blender and voila!!) goes in a mason jar in the fridge, etc.🥰🇨🇦

As a person who loves to host as well, I love the sentiment of blessing and not impressing the guests. I will keep that on repeat in my mind. I tend to strive for perfection while hosting because I love the details in things, but often find I'm stressing out way too much. I've been getting better at not sweating the small stuff, but it definitely takes work for me. Thank you Natalie, and thank you to your lovely Mama!

I'm not much of a hostess. It does stress me out. I like to have impromptu get-together. We do have friends over each Saturday where she brings the food and we provide the setting we live out in the country with lots of space to walk, and they live in the city so this is there get away place. Nothing fancy - paper plates a must. They feel so comfortable that they know where to get drinks, silverware, and serving spoons. She even likes to wash up the dirty dishes. That's my idea of hostessing. No decorations or fancy food. We do host Thanksgiving for friends. No family in the area, except of course our son who will join us if he doesn't have plans with his friends.

I throw the linens in the dryer and use wrinkle release. I try to decorate the tables a day or more in advance so I can focus on food. Housing birthdays for our kids, I'll take turns with my best friend and her kids during the party running the refills and clean up so the hostess can engage with her party guests. It's such a blessing!

We do a fare amount of hosting also. Yes, it is work but the bond created between our guests and us is priceless. I'm a simple kind of gal when it comes to table decor, etc. I have some but rarely use it. I feel our guests feel more welcome when I keep things on the simple side. Your cabinets are such great storage and I think the candle sconces and picture is very pretty. I respect and admire you for all that you are. I'm thankful God created you and that you are willing to share your life and your family with us.

Lovely chatty vlog😊. Funny what you declutter, I use every time.😂 I use my wood lazy Susan for sauces and condiments or ingredients for eg self made wraps, rice rolls, tacos, etc on a table.. they all stay together and people can turn it to get what they need. I use my 3 tear glass plates for nibbles, treats, afternoon tea during the holidays, birthdays and celebrations.. we love it. You are a "cosy minimalist"😊.. just not an "extreme minimalist".. but most people aren't extreme minimalists...and wouldn't want to be!. ..and as you always say "and that's ok!"😊

being organized and prepped always pays off. stews and or slowcooker meals can be done in the morning, prepping the veg to go in the crockpot could be done the evening before, oven dishes like shepherds pie, lasagna , moussaka of whatever you like, can be done in the morning afternoon and just bake an hour before guest arrive, when I watch home make over or house hunting shows I always giggle at we like to entertain, we need a big kitchen, but noone wants to see you cut up steaks or the pile of dishes in an open kitchen..trust me ;-) been there done that. Nathalie you've done well with the decluttering and whatever works for you is the best way for you. I have a ting for little meusli bowls and I decluttered many, but still have many, cos they're pretty and I can use them as individual soup boalw, icecream, meusli, dips, sauces, cut up veggies, just cos it's meant for soup on the label doesn't mean you have to use them as a soup bowl, might put cat food in it if I want to, basically I trying to say: your house, your rules, do what makes you happy

Oh I love those tiered wood and metal pieces. Might keep an eye out for some like that. We never host other people, ever 😂 we were actually considering getting rid of some of our plates as we never reach the ones at the bottom, I started rotating them so they don’t get dusty but I don’t know why, I should just donate them. We do however do what we in NE England call a ‘choosy tea’ quite often. Which is basically a table filled with snack foods and afternoon tea type food which you just pick at from brunch to supper so a lot of the serve wear we have comes with lids. Great for leftovers in the fridge afterwards too, for when our eyes are bigger than our stomachs 😅

Not ready for the holidays yet, but as a family who celebrates a liturgical church year we prepare early for Advent and the 12 Days of Christmas. I have a liturgical book that I have different things in for the year. It helps knowing what we need to do for each thing.

In our church we have Thanksgiving on October 1st. Because we decorate with mostly our own harfest and by the time real Thanksgiving comes by everything is canned already lol we also have a big feast in church so this helps to cut down the cost as we are using a lot of harvest to prepare the meal

I am with you. I am not trying to rush summer but I have started (and finished) some of my Christmas DIY's for this year already. I would rather start them unseasonalbly early, enjoy the process and pack them away until December than rush through them and stress out closer to the holiday. Separartely: TONGS...After the entaining video with your mom, I too went out and got extra! Suggestion for your teeny tiny bamboo tongs (and the credit for this might go to Lynn White): they can be used to get toast un-stuck from the toaster. Love your channel and I am digging the jazz background music you have beeen using. Happy Fall! 🍁

My favorite serving dishes are the family's simple white pizza plates. They work for everything from cakes to sushi to Christmas roasts and dumplings...

For those just starting to purchase serve ware and want some festive seasonal items. Nora Fleming has a line of basic white serve ware with changeable charms. They have every theme you could imagine. I think something like that might be nice for a wedding registry.

I took a picture of what my cabinet looked like with everything neatly in it. It helped my family figure out my "Jenga" way of storing everything. LOL

I used to get really stressed about hosting. Then i realized that all the people ive invited into our home are people that i love. They have hosted before too! And know sometimes things get a little crazy. And in all honesty they are just happy to be there, hanging out. Glitches don't matter. Making memories does. Enjoy it.

The little wooden tongs that you were going to declutter…I think they are for taking toast out of a toaster so that you’re not sticking a metal knife or fork or something in there to grab your toast if it doesn’t pop up far enough. 🍞
