To stretch the beef you can add diced mushrooms and/or brown lentils. They take on the flavor of the dish.

Chorizo is amazing. It's meat, fat and oodles of flavor with all those spices all in one lovely yummy parcel! I always keep a few rolls by for when chicken is on special, chorizo and chicken are great together! Love how you add as much meat as possible into this extreme budget grocery haul. Your family is going to eat so good with lots of flavor! I grow my own cilantro every year so I have that and the coriander to use all year round

I do the same thing. Our tap water isn't the best; it's very hard water and it leaves a bit of a taste even after cooking. Not a big deal, but it kind of grosses me out, so if I have bottled water to spare, I'll use it for soup. Something like pasta or rice gets tap water, because the difference is less apparent.

There is a Lebanese spice blend called Baharat (also called 7 spices, even though it does contain more sometimes, based on recipe). Recipes can be found online. There is also a Japanese (7 spices) version, though I'm not sure that that is the one she is using here.

I agree! Why would you not just wash the carrots and use them......? They grow literally in dirt. The meals look really good.

Maybe she doesn't have clean water to wash the carrots? Idk. I've noticed she cooks with bottled water and not water from the sink.
