I used to be like Eric in just having the essentials. I kept my apt bare. I moved a lot. I didn't want stuff and I was never materialistic. I didn't want to waste money on decor. It wasn't until I was driving thru a neighborhood in December in seeing the Christmas decorations that I realize it made me happy. So I got a mini Christmas tree. Every time I came home to it, it put a smile on my face. That's when I start getting art work & decorating. Looking at aesthetically pleasing things raises endorphins whether its looking at beautiful sunset or an attractive person it has the same affect.
