Thank you for explaing about cutting the branches growing down, really heavy branches and in the center. I always wondered why others have cut so many branches. Beaitiful plant now. And now it's blooming!
@janasher4940Күн бұрын
Thanks for explaining why you cut where you did. And I was amazed that the trunk was able to curve back towards the center without being 'trained' with ropes or a stake.
@SucculentFeverКүн бұрын
Thank you. I always auto correct my succulents without stakes or anything. I just use pruning and direction of sunlight. However, I was surprised how it curved so much. Was not expecting that much

thank you ! I was recently given a jade plant that was so pot bound it was splitting the pot . the root ball was the size of a large fist . I took a lot of cutting & transferred it to the ground .
@SucculentFever23 күн бұрын
Jades will do well in the ground. Depending on where you live just be aware of the hot climate. If it gets above 90°F make sure it gets shade.

Its a beautiful Jade and now seems to be very happy and ready to thrive after your prune & re-pot. Had you thought about removing the smallest of the 4 trunks at the bottom especially as it looks like it is crossing \ rubbing against one of the others? This would then leave you with 3 strong main trunks.
@SucculentFever19 күн бұрын
That is definitely a good idea. I was tempted to cut it while pruning but decided to wait and see how it matures. I might cut it in the future IF i decide to keep the plant. Most likely I will get rid of this Jade plant as it is too big.
@lynnshirleyКүн бұрын
I liked what you did but I so wanted you to cut out that 3rd thin trunk from the base of the plant.

Very helpful, thank you. What is your feed/water regime for Jade plants please?
@SucculentFever2 күн бұрын
No feeding. For watering it depends on your climate. I water about 5-7 days during summer, About every 10-12 days during spring and fall Winter every 15-17 days. I will create another video for that

How do you decide on which branches to remove
@SucculentFever28 күн бұрын
Here is a link for a video of mine about pruning. But I follow 3 easy steps: 1. remove all the bottom branches close to the soil 2. I remove "most" but not all branches that are pointing down 3. prune branches that are too heavy. Trunk is not thick enough to handle much weight kzbin.info/www/bejne/nGi9nYufe9WilZo
@lauriedashner222528 күн бұрын
@ thanks… I’m dealing with a relatively older jade that could benefit from a good pruning.
@geraldrandall156618 күн бұрын
Too many trunks in my opinion. I like one strong main trunk with jade, maybe a twin trunk that has fused.

@SucculentFever13 күн бұрын
I agree with you. It will definitely look better in a Clay pot. I couldn't find one that big(wide) Also I was not planning to keep it so didn't want to spend the money but now I might keep it. Not 100% sure

I’m so jealous right now my friend. I live in Ohio and it’s freezing. My garage has transformed into a greenhouse until warmer weather comes in late April May. It’s a beautiful Jade. If that were mine , I would bonsai it for sure. Well, Happy New Year and Happy Gardening. God bless

I have several 50+ year old Jade plants that were left 1 and 1/2 years ago for my care for the winter months. Owner has left them with me again. I transplanted them all as soon as I first got them, including making a few new plants. They had NEVER been repotted in new soil! Since they were not mine, I did not prune the originals as I wanted to, but I feel I must now since there are too many heavy hanging branches. The plants are under grow lights in a mini greenhouse in my basement and have developed that beautiful orange shade on the tips of the leaves. I had a Jade that had blooms each winter, many years ago and had to give it away due to a move, along with almost 50 other plants such as Orchids. The scent from a Jade’s blooms is more wonderful than orange blossoms. It is so hard to cut so many branches from a Jade, but your result is beautiful. Good video👍
@1ACL9 күн бұрын
I think you pruned so much so you make $ on the cuttings. Ok, but be honest. I think it looked better fuller, imo.
@SucculentFever8 күн бұрын
In about 12-14 months it will be full of new branches again but by then the trunks will be thicker and stronger to handle the weight. When you prune too much the trunks get all those nutrients. Thank you for your support!! .
