Always remember you don't have to fill a large planter with soil, use items to half fill the planter. Usually, we use empty plant containers, then fill to the top with soil. That way, your plants don't sink so far down in the planters. Remember, it takes time to newly plant flowers to perk up. They look beautiful

About the plants. Put more soil in to begin with, add a root booster, especially if you are going to do any cutting or root displacement. Feed the plants on planting day. Finally, be kind to yourself. Not all plants are going to survive that type of sun, and mix. 💗💗💗

The flower you cut up is called Kalanchoe. It is part of the cactus family. It requires full sun/partial shade. It may not do well with the flowers you have paired with it, as it will take most of the water itself and hold onto it. Love love love the patio

Amazing job! I love how crisp the pavers look with the grass! I would add another wall just because I like privacy but y’all do yall! Also, we see all the blemishes on our own stuff when everyone else couldn’t pick out the flaws. If someone saw the rust on the lanterns, they probably would have thought it was antique or something 😊

I love, love, love the whole setup with the pergola project. Hubby and I plan to use your project as inspiration for our backyard. Btw we purchased our home 14 years ago. Since then there is nothing we haven’t replaced about this house from driveway to privacy fence, roof, landscaping to every wall, ceiling, new kitchen with addition expansion, both new bathrooms and various other spaces. We have for all practical purposes rebuilt this house from scratch. We also sold our dream home we built before buying this house. I felt the same as you as I’ve watched you transform areas of your home. It was all worth it for us empty nesters as we were able to purchase this home and turn it into our dream retirement home mortgage free! Good luck to you and keep up the good work in your journey of projects. I’ll be watching as you continue those dream projects.

Hi Lynn, Awesome outdoor project! Everything looks great! I also agree with you about another 4 foot fence on the other side but It wonder is there a way to do fencing something like the roof where it can be open/closed? This is the mom/MaMaw part of me watching the younger kids play in the backyard (swing set & etc) solid or not I think a fence would look great there. I would of just left the flowers in their pots. Some need more water than others. It might look nicer knce they settle in...they will wilt before they perk up. Leave them in & don't mess with them. Plants are resilient....don't over or under water. They might surprise you in a week or so. The patio area came out really nice. Such a relaxing place to sit.❤❤❤ I love the pavers with the turf between, so classy. Love the wall design. Great job guys!!!!!

Give the plants a chance. They need to absorb the water and nutrients from the soil. I always mix miracle gro when I water my plants to give them extra nourishment. I never cut my plants in half. They need to stay compact and root sturdy. I think they look great in the planters on the porch. I think the partial sun and shade on the porch should be fine for the plants. Don't over water. Wait until the soil is not wet and then rewater. The back patio looks great.
