Hey Dani! I'm just 4 minutes in, but feel a bit homesick. I work as a photographer in that part of the Alps during the summer. Got some photos of the vultures. They are flying on the top of the Stelvio pass in the summer almost every day, several times. Lots of people = lots of garbage and food leftovers. Some marmots are almost as friendly there as your squirells. End of May, first weeks of June is the best time in my opinion. The valleys are yellow from the flowers and there's still some snow on the mountain tops. It worth a trip that part of the year too. You can get some serious discount for long term booking (one month), that way you have time to discover the place. I live in Hungary, but I start to think that my real home is the swiss Alps.

I am German, but live in Switzerland for 15 years now. I can confirm you swiss experiences. A very strange sense of humour, sometimes hilarious. Very particular about dirt, all over Switzerland. And the bearded vultures are everywhere, but you hardly see them, far less than the eagles. Their territory is huge. They are raised and released in a well organised program. Young ones fly very far, were found even up the french atlantic coast. But they tend to return to the alps after some roaming to find out where it is the most beautiful. These birds are enormous. they look big in your video, but, as you know, they are much more impressive live. Nothing compares to seeing such a creature soaring by with your own eyes. Your last day was just around the corner where I live. The mountains you shot are the view from my bedroom.

What a wonderful film, thank you for sharing it with us! We were lucky enough to see a Bearded vulture near Peterborough in the UK a couple of years ago now, it was a truly epic bird, we got a great impression of it's size as it was being mobbed by crows, they looked like sparrows! Very sorry to hear you lost your images and video film, very upsetting, I imagine you'll catch more amazing images and films moving forward. We've subscribed so we can keep up with your success! Seasons greetings!

Dani, you said that you failed in missing the shots you wanted of the vulture. Consider the bigger picture of now having an opportunity to revisit the location and perhaps get even better coverage. Time will tell and you still brought hundreds of more people with you who will never get to experience what you shared. You may have missed a few shots, but you (and Jaun) opened the vistas for so many of us. Thank you.

This was so beautiful. And as ever, so calming an experience . I’m still sorry about the loss of your pictures, but all hail the heroes with you for being there with excellent images to kindly share. The black squirrels are gorgeous, looking as though wearing formal tuxes, with the white breast. They must almost look like puffs of smoke among the trees. Best of all is that this was a wonderful lesson of the meaning of the most important missed opportunities, and not to lose sight of others within reach if a set goal isn’t possible.

Lesson learnt I hope regarding the hard drive! We have all been there and now I take two tough drives and back-up twice. Once at home I backup to a NAS you can never have enough copies. Great videos and why your not picked up by BBC Bristol wild life section I will never know. Your delivery is so much more human than many of the offerings they have. Keep going your only going to get bigger & bigger.
@fatherdamo2 Жыл бұрын
We have 200+ physical servers and endless VMs at work and I know how often hard drives/SSDs fail. So all my pictures go to two memory cards within my camera, and then they get backed up to one external drive via a ravpower usb/ssd hub (no computer required, one button backup). When back at base data is then copied to my Surface computer and in turn online to Microsoft onedrive. When the memory cards are full, I change one to read only and archive it in a box! (I have so many in that box and probably have never used them to recover but I know everything is there for if the worst happens). I add another card into the system and format them both in the camera . Cards are so cheap now, there is in my opinion no reason to reuse them time and time again, once is enough in my setup. I lost data some 20+ years ago on a Psion series 3.... never have again!

Great video Danni - super quality and narrative - you are getting better & better! So true that most people have no idea the lengths you need to go to to "get the shot" and like most of nature's endeavours how often you have to bounce back from failure. Funny though how often I get my best shots on the way back or unexpectedly - animals don't read scripts🤣
