This was helpful. I'm kind of contemplating Unifi Protect and wanted to see how they handled door locks. I currently have a Kwikset ZWave keypad deadbolt and it's simple but works well. The Unifi stuff is probably way overkill for me, but it looks awesome.

Can this be programmed to be open or do you have to use the card every time you want to enter? Or to put it another way, can you leave the door closed but unlocked?

The magnet lock is what's keeping the door closed. You can still have a door handle and a deadbolt but in order to get the door latch to pop open it has to be triggered using the Access system. You can set up a passcode to enter in addition to a key card. On the inside the the building there is a scanner you can just wave your hand over to open the door.
