Definite improvement. Regards ambient noise: I believe all relevant ambient sound is a major component of interest provided that audio is well below voice when vocals are keyed.

I contribute a lot to a question and answer platform. One question was (as I paraphrase here) are all sailors capable of fighting fires on a ship and on the flight deck in particular? I explained that shipboard fires are serious business and that all sailors go through shipboard fire fighting training and the flight deck crew in particular train on aircraft fires as well. I explained it's literally an "all hands on deck" event. I used your ship with photos to show how serious it is and the damage it can cause. I wonder if they still show the film for training?

My father was a CB Chief stationed at Kingsville ( In charge of the Hobby Shop). I saw the Blue Angles perform there in I am guessing 1959. I was a MM on the USS Sample DE 1048 and we operated on Yankee Station with the Oriskany plane guarding, upon his passing I was transferred by helo to the Oriskany then catapulted off on a COG to Da Nang, remember that like it was yesterday and I was told it was half power, C130 to Clark AFB, MAC flight to West coast, a AF Generals DC 3 to San Antonio, commercial to New Orleans. The Navy got me home. Great video and brought back a lot of memories of Kingsville and Yankee Station. Thank you for being out there doing what you do, it is amazing.

My Dad was a WWII Navy carrier pilot and involved in the invasion of Southern France. It started shortly after D-day as no aircraft carriers were directly involved in Operation Overlord. He passed a couple of years ago, so I enjoy these carrier pilot videos. Thanks for the channel.

I was an ABH yellow shirt in Fly1 on this very deck back in the early 90's. When people asked what I did in the Navy, I would say I had one of the few enlisted jobs where an officer had to do what I said or he might get in trouble.😂

I love these videos. I used to enjoy my father's stories from when he worked on the wooden flight deck of the USS Wasp in the mid 50s. One night the entire flight deck caught fire when a Grumman AF (anti-sub plane) made a hard landing and ruptured its fuel tanks. I believe they sailed to Japan, where the deck got re-planked with teak.

I love these videos. The flight deck crews are amazing, and remind me of an old advertising campaign here in Australia for the RAN in the early 1980s. “You’ll be wet, you’ll be homesick and frightened but the pride of the fleet will be you!”(search that up on KZbin) We even had a CATOBAR carrier back then too, until 1982… a whopping 20,000 tons full load displacement with one cat and A-4s and S-2s which barely fitted… 😂 I joined up anyway later in the 80s…

I want to pass on a big time thank you for these videos. I’m a DC (Docent Candidate) on the USS Midway museum in San Diego. I am one of a small percentage of candidates that are not veterans of the Navy. My father was a Navy veteran and I have a son in the Coast Guard and I have always had a great appreciation and respect for those who served in the armed forces. My wife’s grandfather was a highly decorated Marine and Medal of honor recipient and at 65 years old I figured this is my way of giving back just a little for the sacrifices my father, son and my wife’s father and grandfather made for my freedom. I find your videos an indispensable training tool for my Docent program specifically on cats and traps talks with many keys on PriFly and other aspects of flight operations on board an aircraft carrier. Thank you for these incredible videos and for your service.

Excellent video, as always. Thanks for making the video as a single shot without interval edits. While it makes the video longer, WE DON'T CARE. We're interested in seeing ALL of what's going on. You do a very nice job of filling 'dead time' with lots of good information. The nice thing about voice over is you can minimize exterior noise (don't ever cut it out completely) and adjust voice so it can be easily understood. Voice over also allows for calm (unpanicked) presentation. And don't EVER add music UNLESS (maybe) you're making a nice relaxing scenery video such as through clouds during a beautiful sunset or over mountains or the Grand Canyon, etc. You're videos are setting a new 'high mark' for everyone else. (You'll NEVER be able to make enough of them to satisfy we aviation nuts!)

I loved the C2 Greyhound. We were doing exercises down in GITMO, and we had to come back to the ship after 10 days training. Our group loaded into a C2 and we landed aboard the carrier. Was a unique experience seeing the long wake of the ship, and it was just a tiny sliver, then all of a sudden, you're yanked to a stop. Most of us had the same thought when we first saw the carrier so far out from us: "Are we going to really land, on THAT"? lol

A friend, CDR Pete Fey (EWO) was involved with the Growler training program at NAS Fallon when it was the replacement for the EA-6B (VAQ-135 Black Ravens) he had flown from NAS Whidbey. As a Helo Aviator (U.S. ARMY), I had flown onto the deck of The Enterprise, a Destroyer and a guided missile frigate when stationed in Danang. Just can't imagine the unleashed power of a catapult launch during heavy seas while conducting combat ops?

All American's should watch videos like this. Watching this gives me great respect and confidence in our military and especially in our fighter pilots. Beyond impressive. Shows that these pilots are intelligent, rational and cool headed soldiers and it strips the negative "Iceman" stereotypes that are seen in the movies.

Hi PAIL, first, thank you for what you do. Also, thank you for these amazing videos. My dad was on a Mitchell B-25 crew in North Africa during WW II (Army AIr Corps). After the war, he worked at Jax NAS as a civil engineer, so I grew up around aviation. I have always been interested in what exactly goes on during a Cat launch, and your videos are right on point. Due to an injury at age 3, I could not join the military. But through your amazing videos I can experience what goes on during a launch and a recovery. Thanks again, keep them comming!

Lots of fun to watch your videos. My successor as Civil Air Patrol squadron commander is a retired F-14 RIO and TOPGUN graduate. He has some great stories about his carrier days. The Cessna 172 we fly these days is pretty tame compared to a Tomcat, but flying is flying. Give me wings and an engine or two, and I’m a happy camper.

Dear GJ, Thank you for recognising my comment! As a child I was fascinated with reading books and also watched the very few available news reels on British TV of the WW2 US Air Force daylight raids on Nazi Germany and later aircraft carrier pilots taking off in the Pacific Ocean to take on the formidable Imperial Japanese Navy. I’m in awe and comforted that the Grumman Hellcats and Corsairs I remember leaving the flight decks appears the same way you do today, with steam driven catapults and clearly recognisable body language/signals from the motivated ground crew! Let alone the balls to sit behind the controls! There appears to be the same fearless approach to duty and dedication to the profession. In the past canopies would be open, arm’s relaxed and take off like it’s just a Sunday afternoon cruise in the car! It really looks the same today but I’m sure so much more regimented. Rock on 🤘 Many thanks Ian

Great stuff. Always wanted to be a naval aviator. Unfortunately I couslnt pass their test so I ended up getting my private all the way up to twin commercial floats and instruments and flew in hawaii and alaska. Thanks for your service and keep the videos coming
