Dr. Brauker, I just bought your ebook and will be starting improving my 40 acres here in NW Ohio late this winter after observing sign to see where they are utilizing the property now. Thank you for sharing this information for us all, it is much appreciated!

Dr. Brauker I enjoy your e-book and love these videos with Mr. Ward. Always good stuff on to video number #2. Look forward to more from you too as I know you are basically rebuilding your deer woods!

It's great to see new material from Jim Ward and Dr. Brauker. I enjoyed the discussion immensely but for pedagogical purposes, I would have liked a map key or an explanation of the map features, including topographicals, right at the begining of the discussion when Jim initially started referring to the map. Some guys can pick it up right away but I was a little challenged on this. Looking forward to the continued discussion.

ha, the salt conversation... clients of mine freak out when I mention Redmond mineral to get micro nutrients into the system. Most soils are short on micros and seas salt has everything in it in proportion. Sodium leaches out of the system with rain, so in rainy regions its gone shortly.

man this is cool. I wish I could have only 140 acres of lush land to hunt whitetail on! haha in some parts of central or east TX one certainly could, and people certainly do. And let me emphasize that I certainly agree with everything discussed. That said, regional differences for the methods are huge, for some regions. Like me, we lease property to hunt. We do not own it. We lease 10,000 acres! Yes. Ten thousand acres. We lease from a rancher in West TX. It is nearly impossible to “walk” the property. But it is fun to hike the hills and gullies while watching out for rattlers. But we do have topographical maps. And the terrain is extremely rough. Plateaus and canyons region of west Texas, south of Midland, TX, close to the border. There are fundamental deer management principle that apply to any piece of land, anywhere. And simultaneously, at the same time, there are real and major regional differences that land managers must take into account, given local topography, terrain, soil quality, et cetera. Example, I used to have a place in central Texas that we could grow food plots on. But at our lease now, way to dry and dusty and rocky to grow any food plots. The focus is much more on supplemental corn and protein feeding, yes the kind that some folks love to hate on, and also deer population management, i.e., buck-doe ratio of 1:1. In this manner of wildlife management, we are able to take trophy bucks and have a healthy wildlife herd even in super dry desert areas of West Texas.

I have seen JW throw the minerals all around over his food plot before , and he recommended it again in this video. Does spreading minerals over the plot hurt the plants at all?
@ExtremeDeerHabitat2 жыл бұрын
As long as the plants are not wet it does no harm.

“Same spot later that day” was also at night … Doesn’t prove anything except maybe the opposite of your point

Well, Jim killed a 160 plus buck on that property last year after working it in September and October so there is that.
