A bit of a fun fact, in the original script, Ku is supposed to outright killed by Shriek, as in Ku will not be brought back in the ending like in the current game. It was changed because it was so gut wrenching that the playtesters don't feel like continue playing afterwards.

I get that. I just finished playing this for the first time, and after every single level in the main story, I always went back to check in on Ku - just in case. I couldn't enjoy any of the side quests etc. because I wanted to save Ku as quickly as possible (if it was indeed possible). You can't create a character like that and take her away from us, so i'm glad they changed that
