► Hair Color:
This a custom color job, created by a stylist at a salon, using a professional system not available in beauty supply stores and which requires a valid cosmetology license to purchase--no I do not know the name. It cannot be recreated precisely and the shade looks different on me every time she touches it up since she blends it up on the spot and it changes shades every time I wash my hair.
Bleach was not used. We have been lifting my hair lighter and lighter over time using developer (which is not bleach) since October of 2015. I will not post a video on how to color because I am not a licensed cosmetologist and I will not give directions on how to use chemicals that I do not have a good understanding of. If you'd like help with achieving this color, please consult a LICENSED professional who specializes in natural hair because coloring will alter your hair and can damage depending on your texture and the process.

The rules of a perm rod set are a lot like a 1950s roller set (wet set or dry set) when the ladies use to do their hair in roller sets or pin curls. Almost the exact same rules. When my hair was relaxed (natural now) I use to do roller sets every night. It was my favorite hair style. The only thing I did that was different was that I rolled my hair at a higher angle 📐 pointed upward like my arm to get higher volume. If I rolled the roller at a lower angle then I would have less volume. And my setting lotion was the texture ID but I was allergic to the fragrance so I use the one with the Afro on the bottle, The doux mousse def texture foam.

You explained this so perfectly. I grew up wearing rods since the 90s and learned a long time ago how to do them myself AND get the roots straight as possible. The key to that is simply, don’t put much hair on the rod so the heat from the dryer can penetrate all strands. And my hair is thick. You are awesome sis!!

Thank you! Hair is gonna do what hair is gonna do when it gets damp/wet, regardless of if it’s moisture from sweat or whatever. I personally don’t mind frizzy, textured hair, I think is Beautiful, so I don’t do anything, I’ll just pineapple it after while. Either you can find the beauty in it or you can protective style or style your hair more often.

Ok...note to those whose hair is finer when it's wet....let your hair dry a bit before doing this or your hair will just slide right off the rod. And I'd almost advise stretching your roots by drying the roots and leaving the ends damp because this is VERY hard to do with shorter just below the chin-length hair. It's tough.

Which type of roll is adequate to our african hair... because I recently bought the kinky pointy ones looking like a toothbrush cinnamon roll and I feel they are gonna cause some extra shrinkage to the deep conditioning process even they might bring more attachment to the hair strings. But I couldn't find them in a flat surface... Am I being too paranoid? Also... Way is it better a deep conditioning during night than a intensive conditioning by applying just Fresh air by an blowdryer once we added the conditioner and make the rolls??
