Extremely Underrated! 2023 Lexus LC500 Review

In my 2023 Lexus LC500 review, I'll show you why this JDM luxury sports car is extremely underrated. The Lexus LC500 2023 model year doesn't get any new upgrades so you still don't get a touchscreen display or a wireless charger. In fact, this still has a CD player and two USB-A ports. However, the Lexus LC500 keeps its 5.0L naturally aspirated V8 that makes 471 horsepower. With a smooth ride and an outstanding exhaust sound, the LC500 is going to be an instant classic in the future.

North of $110K for my nori green ‘22 convertible as speced in the review (but went with tan top). Everything has pros/cons. For me- this car has the pros of exclusivity I was looking for, with plenty of performance, reliability, dealer experience, exterior and interior styling, quality craftsmanship, comfort, engine modes, ML sound system, NAV8 sound enhanced with top down driving, value retention, etc. cons - might be tiny back seat, (but I don’t want people in my car), small trunk (that’s what my wife’s SUV is for), lack of some tech (touchscreens are dusty/greasy finger print magnets - yuck), lack of a 360 camera is annoying cuz she’s got a looooong hood and low lip which is a recipe for disaster), some would say price but not with some GT competition being Aston Martin or the Maserati grantorismo which are tens of thousands more with lesser build quality and scary depreciation. The convertible came out in 21 doubling overall unit #s to 2700+. No other year comes close, making overall US unit #s very low. With any luck the LC500 will, over time, prove to be one of the great JDM cars.

In including frt mine broke $115. I have a Lexus SC430 so I’m used to unusable back seats. I’m the same way, I don’t want a bunch of people in my car. I make people take everything out of their back pockets so not to dimple the leather. I tell people I’m not offended if they choose not to ride with me but it’s my car, my leather seats and my final say in the matter.🏖️

@@alzym1 as an x owner of an RCF and a current owner of an LC500, it’s very evident that an awful lot of work has gone into the exhaust and the intake. The LC500 sounds more exotic than the RCF. No offence meant 👍

@@TeaVR oh im 100 percent agree with you, i love how they engineered the exhaust for LC, it made a big difference, RCF severely lacks a good exhaust note, after a american header and a good borla set you can hear the true V8, but the LC sounds amazing from stock set up, what a machine

Most people have a wrong impression of the LC. The LC is not about the numbers, that's not what Lexus is aiming for. The brand is part of the Toyota Motor Company.Their sales volumes are so big, it allows them to make targeted cars for a very limited audience. They not focused on the big crowd like the German car manufacturers en that's the beauty of it. The LC is a niche product for a niche public. A potential LC buyer is not focused on performance numbers because he is to demanding for that. He knows that performance numbers are relative and very misleading. The cars with the highest performance numbers are not always the best cars to drive. Same with the latest tech, the most innovative tech is not always the best tech or the finest tech. So a LC driver don't want the fastest car with the latest tech. What he want is the most sublime car, because that's what Lexus is all about: Sublimity. And of course a 911 driver will never trade his 911 for a LC and from his point of view he is absolutely right............... but a LC driver will never trade his LC for a 911 and from his point of view he is also absolutely right. They are both different type of drivers with totally different type of cars, but they also have something in common: they are both car enthusiasts and they both know exactly what they want. So don't judge a car by its performance numbers because you could be wrong. Lexus has no competitors because they are to unique en to special for that, and because they don't compete with anyone, they don't have to design or manufacture their cars to a certain standard, which is usually set by German car brands. And that is one of their biggest advantages. The result is: complete freedom, Lexus are breaking the rules on purpose.........................................................................................just because they can. The last thing a LC driver wants when he's behind the wheel of his Lexus is that he feels like driving a car from a German brand ,nothing wrong with German cars only.............the more a Lexus resembles a car from a German brand, the less Lexus it is, and there is definitely something wrong with that, at least for me it is. And you don 't have to take my word for it, but drive one of these and you will be converted. It's art on four wheels, and not only the way it looks but also the way it drives. So Lexus will never join the clock speed war, because they are a little bit too serious for that.

LC500 owners know this isn't a sports car. It truly is a GT. The focus is more towards comfort than at the limit handling. To be honest, it sounds faster than it really is. That 10spd transmission is amazing.

I agree. However, I wonder if that comment is more applicable to those LC500s that don’t have rear wheel steering. I find the handling of mine very crisp. It’s no hot hatch, but it handles much better than the likes of the C63

@@TeaVR I've never driven one with rear steering but I heard it's great. The 2024 LC500 is supposed to have a bunch of suspension tweaks. I like the car but I don't know if I'd buy another one. But if I did it would be USB with the white interior

I ordered my bespoke build LC500 coupe a year ago and bought it in May. I have watched as many reviews of the car as I can, and what most of them fail to mention is that the one “flaw” of the infotainment system isn’t really one after the day you buy it. Why? Because once you are finished with all your settings you won’t need to touch it again. I use the voice command feature and just tell car what I want it to do rather then fiddling around with the touchpad while I’m driving. I tell Apple CarPlay what I want to listen to. I set the climate concierge feature the day I bought it, set my ideal temperature to 71 degrees and every time I sit in the car, it uses at least 10 sensors to reach it within a minute! When your paying over $100k for a car, you expect class, quality and reliability. JD Power ranked Lexus #1 this year. The looks are so stunning that even people that are not into cars will stop me to tell how much they like it. The ride is quiet and the car really has a dual personality with its different modes. I love that it is so rare and I will bet that it will go up in value in 10+ years - and I still will be driving it!

Cars already at or over 100k at dealers.....all a manual is gonna do is spike up the price more or at best since they barely make that many auto models anyway,the manuals will be treated like a special trim at dealers and be Mark up higher than the autos ever were. They ain't sellin any manuals if the autos don't sell along with cars in that price range that'd be better or cheaper to get for all that.

Beautiful car, but it suffers from what most Lexus models suffer from. Lack of a performance and this is a GT car, outdated interior, as beautiful as it is. Lexus should have never cancelled the rumored LC-F with the twin turbo V8, that would have kept the car in the headlines. The people who make excuses for Lexus don't seem to grasp that reliability isn't the end all, especially in this class of car. The 911, SL, F-Type, 8-Series all trounce this car badly in any objective measure, outside of reliability. A turbo V8 and some interior updates would put this car right back in the fight. This car isn't underrated, it's just lacking.

I just traded a 2018 F-Type for a 2023 LC convertible because of the reliability issue. 11K miles and the F-Type needed a new fuel pump and the radio died. Cost: $10,400. I'll take the Lexus, thanks.
