Great video, very helpful. I just wired two KC HiLites A-pillar lights to the pre-wired Aux panel in my JL, and I'm not sure I could've pulled it off without your video. Two additional comments, though. 1) I found that wiring the switch hotwire on the KC harness to the AUX wire did NOT work. The harness has it's own main hotwire that connects directly to the battery to power the system. Instead I connected the switch LOAD wire to the AUX wire and presto! Fully functional lights. 2) The lights pull only 8.5 amps, but I connected them to the 40 amp wire instead of the 15 amp wire because I will also be installing additional lights to my front bull bar. I want to run those lights to the same Aux switch, which would then in total exceed 15 amps, so the higher amp wire was the way to go. Again, thanks for the great video!

Love that Jeep added these switches. What would make them better is if you could replace the switch buttons with oem style that were labeled "lights", "winch", "compressor", etc. instead of "Aux 1-4". Really surprised the aftermarket hasn't done that yet.

As long as the total amperage draw of all the lights don't exceed the amps of the switch (15 and 40) all your lights can be wired together on one AUX switch. It is best to stay under 80% total draw (12 and 32) per circuit.

I wonder if an AUX switch could be wired into the AUTO Stop/Start to ALWAYS be turned off when the vehicle is restarted using the Power Source=Ignition and Recall Last State? If Jeep doesn't provide a firmware change a third party will provide a hardwire hack. I've been buying 4X4 vehicles since 1972 and MPG has never been a concern of mine. If you're concerned about MPG buy a PRIUS.
Do I need a wiring harness if I have the aux switches already? I got a 20” light bar from dv8 and was wondering if it’s safe to just extend the hot and ground wires and just install them like you did in this video. Not trying to blow my shit up lol

my early 2018 JL does *not* have those wires under the hood to attach the lights up to (just checked, as i was hoping to be pleasantly surprised at the ease of supplying power to the lights that i’ve already installed on the plastic front bumper). supposedly, i should find out soon, they are only on the inside of the passenger compartment under the front passenger side kickplate, together with the connector kit supplied as part of the AUX Switch Option.

@TheNextThing3 жыл бұрын
You might already know this, but the winch will draw more amperage than what those wires will supply directly. You will want to use a relay in between the winch and the battery, then you can power the relay using these wires. That's what I did and it works perfectly!
