Shannon Wooster Mayte was working for Prince at that time and they were dating as well, so the song was not about her. Prince just put her in the video. The initial track may have been about Carmen E but I think this version is about someone else.

Shannon Wooster Little Red Corvette was not about Denise/Vanity. She was also still with Prince when he wrote the song. He just dedicated the song to her after she passed. LRC was inspired by Mai Ling Stone, a girl that he dated in the late 70’s. She has discussed the lyrics and her connection to that song. I Hate U was definitely not about Mayte. He had her working for him as a dancer with NPG and used her for videos too. He was just acting out some of the lyrics to the song.
