Heather, I am so surprised by the amount of negative comments you receive. The music is too loud, you talk too much, etc. etc. You are just starting in this new venture and everyone feels they have to critique you. 10 percent is useful, but the rest should stuff it where the sun don't shine. You answer them very diplomatically. I give you credit for your patience. Can't everyone just stop finding fault with everything. It makes life just miserable with all their issues and opinions. If they must voice their opinions, find the closest mirror! Heather, you are like my best friend I am talking with. You are doing a great job, keep it up. I could never attempt what you are doing, I give you tons of credit. You are beautiful, have a great husband, an adorable dog and some people want to bully that. Wish you success with your new venture. Sue (you don't need to answer me. Don't want to offend any new subscribers for you)

I will answer you because I find you to be like a friend. We have removed all the music from the beauty videos and that was a constructive 10%. There are a few other comments to that have helped. It's people like you that inspire me to keep working on these videos with passion and purpose. Thank you for being there today, I just read a very hurtful comment and it was definitely set out to bully me and scare me away. Soon after I read it , I read yours. Thank you, I appreciate you taking the time to inspire me to keep on this track of helping those who need some encouragement in their mature years, Heather

Heather...I know the article you mentioned. It was so vindictive and mean-spirited. These people must be very angry with life. It is hard to ignore what they say. My empathy went out to you. How emotionally difficult it must have been, but you have Bill and Hurricane to embrace you and make the hurt feel a lot better. If I was there, I'd make you a cup of tea and just sit there and talk. After the warm tea, we can move on to the wine and go visit the Phoenix Tree just to remember it's true meaning. Even hugging that tree after a few glasses of wine will make everything seem laughable, even if your neighbors catch us. It's just the "hippie" generation resurfacing again.

Wow Susan, you are truly amazing! I actually printed your response and put it on my wall where I can look at it. My daughter says Haters hate us, cuz they ain't Us. That's a great quick saying to move onto the other wonderful, encouraging comments that I get... but yours reminds me about Bill, Hurricane, my kids and my wonderful community with people like you. Maybe one day we will have a glass of wine together and laugh at it all under the Phoenix tree!! Big hugs, Heather

Susan, I feel like you do about Heather, and I found this same issue of the “Haters” on another channel I subscribe to. Some people were just being horrible to this person...nit-picking about petty issues. As my daughter says...”haters gotta hate”....& that’s so true! These people have nothing better in their lives, so they feel the need to belittle someone so they can feel better about theirselves. The bad thing is....it only works for a short time, so they rag on someone again & again...misery loves company ! But, I love your videos , Heather, and I love you !!! Oh, and Linda, I find it rather funny that you mention a Phoenix tree. I’ve never heard of one, but I live in Phoenix....Arizona !! Lol I hope that someday the 3 of us could sip that wine around the Phoenix tree !! Happy Holidays to both of you, your families, loved ones...and “fur-babies”!!!

Lol, I just lost my whole post...but here it goes again. Heather, I don't pay much attention to the comments on your videos, but I just read Susan's post and I just can't believe how hateful some people can be. It's not you, it's them. Some people choose to be negative and picking on others somehow makes them feel bigger. I cannot believe anyone would have mean or negative things to say to you! You are beautiful and so very pleasant to watch. I am truly grateful for stumbling on to your KZbin videos! I know it's not easy putting yourself "out there" for other people to criticize, but I am thankful you are here to help mature women with their makeup and clothing, etc. I, too, am a 62 year-old woman and I could use your help! Keep your chin up and whenever you read something negative from someone, take it with a grain of salt. Try to remember that it is them that has the problem, not you. You are the most gracious and wonderful woman, don't let them change that. Remember: Make Love Not War...lol...and that might be a great way to respond to them.

I have read way too many comments on Heather’s videos being fraught with “unnecessary verbiage” ! I subscribed to her videos for precisely that reason, because I felt like I was talking to a girlfriend, not a “teacher”!!! I’ve also read some truly mean comments....as someone else wrote on here, if you have nothing good to say, be quiet ! To all those who wish to change Heather, I say this: there are very many channels on KZbin on mature women’s makeup , etc. I’m sue you can find ones who aren’t “chatty”, or have too much talking!! Leave Heather alone....either subscribe because you like her & ALL of her, or go find the bland, no nonsense kind of tutors you seem to want !! I’m sorry , if I’ve upset you, Heather, but I am extremely sick of these women tearing you down ! We women need to believe in one another. We should be encouraging, uplifting, & loving each other, instead of criticizing, disrespecting, & tearing one another down !!! Whatever happened to unconditional love? Has all these tv shows that embody backstabbing, rudeness, and self -centeredness become the ideal we should strive for ? I for one will NOT bow to those very wrong ideals !! I stand for respect to everyone, unconditional love, and honesty !

I makes me feel amazing that women like you are enjoying listening to me talk to you as a girlfriend on the videos. Some people need this platform to be who they truly are and that's what it is. Thank you for the suggestions of eye makeup for glasses. I heard quite some time ago that navy eyeliner makes the eyes look brighter. I use navy all the time along with lavender eye shadow and a silver gray in the crease of my eye. I like the idea of an upward turn at the edges of the eyes and will have to try that.

Thank you for this. I can’t see anything close up without my glasses and they do magnify my eyes, so this is very helpful. Wrinkles underneath the eyes are really magnified. I use a good creaseless concealer, but I think the color is too light. Do you have tips for this? Maybe I need a narrow frame. Thanks!
@lovingourage
@lovingourage 7 жыл бұрын
A magnifying mirror will help, which you might already be using. A good creaseless concealer is good but don't over powder (makes the wrinkles stand out) under your eyes and on top of the concealer. An anti-shine cream takes away the shine but isn't a powder (most drugstores have this). Usually you want the concealer to be light because most times the glasses make your eye area darker. Maybe in your case the glasses make your eyes lighter. Check it out. If so, make sure the concealer is the same shade as your foundation and not lighter. I could be a good idea to go to the optical store and try on different frames, a narrow one is just a personal preference and if you need bi-focals, astigmatisms etc ... you can't wear a smaller frame. I hope this helps, Heather

Believe it or not Maybelline makes a great concealer, that young and more mature folks like. It's called "instant age rewind" "eraser, dark circles". It's light weight, but if you have very dark under eyes the light coverage isn't enough.

Hi Heather, so happy i found your video's enjoying them all so far i have seen. i have been struggling with the hooded eyes in my older years, and also age marks, fine lines. i have found i have to learn to redo my whole makeup routine from my younger years, lol I am also now wearing eye glasses that magnify my eyes somewhat and those eye wrinkle lines... So most the time i do not wear anything but lipstick... unless i know i am getting my picture taken of course, or for a special on occasion. Q-tips have always been my friend when applying makeup most all my life. i usually apply my mascara before the shadow due to a shaky hand and mascara around the eyes, this is the q-time, lol...Anyways keep up the awesome video's for us older beautiful ladies... Hi Jacqueline, I didn't put this mascara (I'm going to mention now) in my blog but one of my favorite mascaras that is easy to put on, stay on, non smudge and easy to take off is Dior Show by Dior. It's pricey but very easy to control and it goes on thin and you just layer as each layer dries. Remember to take off any excess that is on the brush before applying. Hope this helps, Heather

Great video I now own some nice tinting “Alexander MQeen” transition lenses. I don’t wear them as much as I should. This is a very helpful video. Heather what’s your opinion of putting colour or eyeliner in the waterline, upper or lower?
@lovingourage
@lovingourage 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Rosemary, I haven't put liner on the upper eye waterline for years now and I don't think it makes that much of a difference. As for the lower water line you need to be careful that your eyeliner pencil is not too old and make sure it's clean or you could get bacteria on this very tender part of the eye. Having said that I like a dark blue or black liner for evening and I either leave the area natural for a daytime makeup or if I want to open my eyes I choose a white or natural eyeliner pencil, hope this helps, Heather

Have a great holiday season to you, Bill and Hurricane. These are the best days of the year to celebrate and enjoy everything together. I have not felt the spirit of Christmas yet. Thinking of you Susan, I know you've shared some disappointments with me and truth be told Bill and I have a few interruptions and disappointments too. Today I reflect on the amazing positive things that are in my life. I'll also do that tomorrow and the next day and the next etc.. until the habit of seeing my life with gratitude kicks in for good. I know so many people that have a story and they have it so much worse than me. We started Awesome over 50 to remind ourselves and others that life can be awesome. It's not all rainbows and lollypops but when I feel the overwhelm, disrespect and sadness coming on I remind myself that I truly have many things to be happy about. It's the holiday season so I hope you don't mind that I shared this with you as a small gift. Maybe the Phoenix tree is "you", to rise up and live differently, Hugs, Heather

Heather: Such a wonderful wish you gave me by saying that I should be the "Phoenix Tree", both physically and emotionally. That was just the metaphor I needed to reconsider my life and a new direction. We have been doing legal papers at this time, so it is dredging up sad emotions. After the holidays, we will start rising above the ashes as a new reincarnation of something better. Thank you for the best xmas gift. Sometimes words make the best present. Have a great holiday season.

Aww, I'm so glad. I'm using our metaphor many times myself with some surprising new difficult situations that have cropped up. I know 2018 will be amazing for us Phoenix Trees!!! Hugs, Heather
@rosebudsue3056
@rosebudsue3056 6 жыл бұрын
Heather: I think this "Phoenix Tree" is taking on a life of its own! A lady wrote that she lives in Mesa, Arizona, and she never heard of the Phoenix Tree but she is going to look into it. Then we can all have drinks under it someday. I giggled a little at the misunderstanding. I thought I should tell her not to waste her time looking for the phoenix tree because it is really a mishaped tree in Toronto. Then I said NO! Each of us should find our own "phoenix tree" inside of us. As we tackle problems in our life's journey and everything seems to turn into ashes, we alter our "phoenix tree" with our will to live. A fired rebirth occurs when we gather our strength to accept a different image. However we must struggle with our will to go on and accept this new image. Then the "Phoenix Tree" lives on! As a writer, it gives me new themes for stories. As an artist, I have free license to draw whatever image I want. We can have our own T-shirts to wear with the Phoenix Tree on it and even a short saying. But thru your vid, you can mention the meaning of our Phoenix Tree and see if it catches on with your viewers. To me, it carries such meaning and encouragement, I love it more and more as each trial is thrown my way because I am the Phoenix tree. Someday we might even need a trademark!

I love it! There are so many metaphors and meanings here. I will mention the Phoenix Tree in future videos and think that writing about it and drawing it is also an amazing creation for you. I think you're right, each has her own tree in her own city or town and looks for it and then sits under it or goes there for meditation or inspiration. Toronto can't be the only place for these wonders. I'm a visionary and saw a pencil style drawing of a woman in the tree branches with her arms and fingers out-stretched rising up as I was typing this. Oh my, what wonderful symbolism! Let's each rise up with this new found metaphor and share it with others who need it, hugs, Heather

Before putting on the far- sighted (magnified) glasses, I think that your left eye (on our right) already looked larger- before, and after make-up. Just an observation. Thanks for doing this for us hooded glasses wearers. Bill I am also very far-sighted, thank goodness lens have come along way, and their not so thick & heavy.

It's interesting how the studio lighting changes things sometimes from what we saw in daylight. Bill has undergone many different lenses over the years and I agree that eyeglasses are almost a fashion statement now, Heather

Just stumbled upon this video, which is very helpful as I have ptosis and wear bifocals that magnify my eyes. But I have dark brown eyes, olive skin, and dark hair. What colors should I be wearing? Purple and pink don't do it for me.

Hi Theresa, I did a video on my 10 minute makeup routine and I'll put it at the end of this comment. In this video I used a brown palette for the eye makeup and I think that would look nice on you. Just go sparingly on the eye shadow for your first tries. I would also apply the shadow on an un-moisturized eyelid (a dry eyelid) so it doesn't come off looking greasy. Here's the video, hope it helps, kzbin.info/www/bejne/pZqXn3Sqhp2Hra8

I absolutely have to wear glasses as contacts don't work for me. My problem is that my eyebrows are decidedly uneven with one higher than the other. One follows the line of the frame and the other rides just above it. HELP!

Hi, I did a video on brows and mine are almost gone on one side. Hope some of the techniques work for you. Maybe brushing up with the wax or clear mascara on the lower one can help to even them up or filling in with pencil on the lower one. Here's the video kzbin.info/www/bejne/e2Kti5pqZbiHhZo Also if you want to know where to see the products they are on my blog, here... www.awesomeover50.com/beauty/heres-a-list-of-some-of-the-makeup-i-use-in-my-videos/

@lovingourage

Are you using a magnifying mirror? Also make sure the pencil you use is almost gel-like so it smoothes on easily. When I was modelling they used to pull my eye slightly at the corners and then apply the liner. Also do not apply the liner over any shadow, it has to go on skin. Here is my list of some of the products I use, the eye liner is on the list www.awesomeover50.com/beauty/heres-a-list-of-some-of-the-makeup-i-use-in-my-videos/ Heather

I’m sorry Linda, but I like Heather’s “talky-ness”! I feel like she’s just one of my friends, and she’s showing me some new makeup tip, or hairstyle, accessories, etc.she thought I’d like. It’s exactly what made me subscribe to your channel, Heather!!! Some of the other video tutorials were kinda dull...no offense to the other people who make them ! I just feel comfortable with how you present your tutorials, Heather ! So, I say....be yourself Heather....you’re genuine, you aren’t afraid to laugh at yourself when you make a faux pas...it shows that you’re human. You’re a little quirky, and there again.....you’re fun, sweet, beautiful, & totally awesome....just the way you ARE !!! Happy Holidays to you, Bill, & of course...lil Hurricane!!
