&Lisa Thornton I’m 49 (time FLIES) and am still looking to perfect techniques. I thought I was pretty good until I started watching KZbin. I can never get the transition shade even close - actually never heard of that term until recently - I grew up doing light all over first, lid color, then outer V (remember the Covergirl eyeshadow trio palettes ?) I found an old picture of Maybelline eyeshadow and one looks like the Norvina palette colors. Nothing new, just new to people who grew up with UD Naked palette.

Another great tutorial Lisa. Just watched one of your older eyeshadow videos. Great tips in both. I think why the black liner doesn't look the best on you is your hair color. I have very dark brunette hair (now graying lol) and even now the black liner looks ok on me. I don't use it as much as it is aging so like you I go brown or plum now but I think hair color is what might determine it. I actually loved both looks on you. I doubt you could ever look less than stunning. ❤️❤️❤️

You have beautiful eyes even before you start your makeup and it’s funny how we all like different things. I think your right eye looks so much bigger and more shapely than the left which looks a more natural enhancement to me. Funny how our tastes change over the years too. I'm definitely in the minority, but sometimes, I think that a darker smoked out look that you've got on your other eye can actually have an enlarging effect on the eye as well. I think what really closes the eye off is a harsh liner all the way around the eye that doesn't have any blend/ smoke accompanying it
@annesmith3722 жыл бұрын
I agree. Especially for hooded eyes.

The black eyeliner looks better with the darker shade here as well. For the brighter look, the sharp black eyeliner is too much of a contrast for her eye colour, the rest of the makeup and her skin tone. If the eyeliner on that side was lighter, more muted or smudged a bit, it would look better.

Lisa, you’re wonderful! I really needed this tutorial. I have smallish hooded eyes and wear glasses so these tips help so much. Could you please tell us which nudish color pencil you used on the lower lash line? I only have white and it’s too stark. Also can you recommend a lash product that I can use in place of mascara almost like a mascara without color. Every mascara I use winds up under my eyes! I use primer, waterproof mascara and even set my undereye with powder. Nothing helps. I’d love a colorless mascara that gives my lashes length and volume. Sorry about the long message. I appreciate your time!

Thank you for your teaching. I am trying to learn how to do my eyeshadow. I have been collecting a few palettes and want to use them all. I have trouble with application on the outer corners because I do not know how much to put on and where to place it. Also I cannot put liner on the water line because I wear contacts and get eye infections. I have to apply on the lash line. I have started to use a lighter shade of shadow on the lower lid and a liner on the upper but not all the way over. I am loving learning technique and by watching you, this is the first I've seen, I will learn more.
@leboranickas17605 жыл бұрын
Excellent video. This video was so helpful with technique and brush selection. I have difficulty in placing the outer corner color. Once I saw your placement of color I saw what I was doing wrong. Also I have the Sigma E 30 pencil brush and the Mac 219 pencil brush. Almost identical but the Sigma E30 works much better than the Mac 219 for small hooded eyes. The best transitional/crease color I have found is the Anas Beverly Hills in the color Birkin. So many shades are too dark or too light. This color is just right. I would love for you to do a video on lid colors for small, hooded, creapy lids. Shimmers and metallic colors don’t look good. Possibly a matte selection based on eye colors would be so helpful. I haven’t seen any videos on this subject. Thanks again for all the helpful techniques and product recommendations.

Very helpful tips :) The left eye look is one I wear every day. I hardly ever use black eye liner, mostly brown. I also when in a hurry like to use an eye crayon/pencil shadow or cream shadow of a light taupe all over the lid with lots of mascara :)

I am 65 now and so, I firmly believe that less is more. Although the more subtle make-up and shadowing on the left eye is more natural, creating a more open eye, I do prefer the darker shadowed eye best. I do my eyes with a darker shadow and black liner, which I like, but when I look at myself in the mirror, I think I look harsh.

Thank you for explaining things in such detail. I'm a 55yo M2F transgender woman newbe and alone without friends to show me anything and makeup is so very hard for me just because I don't know anything about it or more importantly having the correct tools. My hole life I have turned wrenches on everything so I know how having the right tools for the job is the difference between success or failure, and I'm not good at failure. I know I am some how going to have to find out what these brush numbers are and what # does what. I've also done a lot of custom pearl and candy paintings on cars and bikes so I'm familiar with shading and making things pop or fade so I have the ability in me but I'm really a show me in every detail no matter how small once and I've got it. But all the primers and brushes. I have a hole set of brushes that they give me not one hint for each one's use that I just have to try and guess. I wasn't even aware of fading like you was doing, so any of my makeup is very little and I just don't have a starting point. Like people say get this and that and don't say what they do or why or what happens if I don't do this. I'm let to find what is being called a setting powder. I see nothing in the store that says setting anything and get frustrated and just walk away. I could give you a list of things to customize you car or replace a sink fixtures or whatever for you to pick-up but if I list it in a gear head slang term instead of what's on the package your looking for like Monkey Wrench you would never find it because there's really no such thing it is an adjustable pipe wrench in sizes from one inch up to a 60" that I have used. That a 5 foot long wrench. You get the point and I have gotten side tracked and am sorry. You did the best job breaking this down more than any other 101 tutorial even by transgender woman I have been able to comprehend. And I'm not the only one out here having trouble just finding a starting point. This is a new Era of transgender people who has lived a fake life like myself for a half century and has had options for once in our lives to change and we are starting as infant's nearly and have hardly anyone that wants to be around us let alone teach us the basic of the simplest things. Love your video I subscribed to your channel

This is so wonderful. I can feel my heart expand with excitement when I learn from you. Quick Question: Do you have a video describing which brush is good for which function? (I feel in the dark on this).
