Eye Photography - How to take a sharp Image of your Iris

How to capture images of your iris with incredible details using a 1:1 magnification lens together with the raynox DCR-250 adapter.
In this video I will share all my tips and tricks how to take the best image possible using a small torch, macro lens and a tripod. Fixing the position of the head got the greatest impact on the image quality, because it allows us to use a long shutter speed at low ISO without the need of taking a flash.

This is a fantastic video of how to get the pictures. I do ancestral eye reading and am shooting pictures all day but now it's important for people to be able to get their own photos to send to me for readings. I'm excited your video is out there for me to send people to. My own video gives good instructions but the quality is very bad. Thank you so much for creating this! For those of you wanting to just have the iris photo - if you have a Mac computer you can go into Preview - Tools - Annotate - Loupe and loupe the eye and then Tools - adjust color - and when you slide down the contrast it will black all but what you have "louped" (no extra software required).

The easiest setup is: Off camera flash at 45°-60° angle, so there are no reflections visible on one eye (better: 2 off camera flashes from side). No diffusion needed.

For the only reason which really counts spending 60 instead of 25 euro, is the option the easily put it on top of my 90mm without the need of removing the lens to add the rings (and dust!). I guess the sharpness is a little bit better with the raynox, but the difference is very small

Thank you! Yes it works great on video, but the short focus distance is a challenge, also with getting enough light. It is safe, but ONLY use it from side and never at full power;)

According to Iridology when people are ill it can be reflected in the iris's, for example nerve rings for stress, do you know if anyone has taken stop-go pictures over time to show changes in the structures of the iris's, I think it could be so beautiful.

No, the probe is actually not the best choice as it is not as sharp as "ordinary" macro lens. Most of the time I use my 90mm 1:1 of sony

Nein das ist kein Problem, so lange du von der Seite (80-90°) leuchtest wird nur die Iris angestrahlt ohne das Licht ins Auge kommt

Hey, I only have used macro lens of sony and laowa... Laowa produceses pretty sharp lens which also offer 2X magnification. I*d recommend to take a look at laowa lens as they range around 400 Euro which is pretty good for the quality.

Thank you, The light/torch was orientated about 70-90° to The eye, it came from The side. The Person was Not blinded The Iris closed a little Bit and some shadows revealed Details

Biggest issue I have right now is exposure. With 60mm there's practically no ambient light in my eye and the macro light I have isn't so bright. I'm gonna get that high lumen flashlight. How do you practice safety with that light? Is there a certain focus you use it on or is it fine to use at the smallest and brightest setting (from the side of the eye)?

Also when shining a light next to your eye, is it normal that one eye sees a different color temperature for a little while?

When coming from the side/back the Iris will Open up. The Iris will ne lit but there is almost no light going into that eye (otherwise the Iris would close). I think thats a good indicator how to dose light
