I frequently see women wearing black liner all around their eyes and it always ages them so much! In my opinion, it makes *most* women look older, and is more harsh and “hard” looking. I’m glad you did this video and I hope that people will try this tip. It look so good and much more fresh, bright and youthful! You explained everything so well, too. Great video, Angie!

I agree, the dark, thick eyeliner is harsh looking on many older women. I quite lining most of my lower lid a couple of years ago, it really made a difference in how my small eyes looked, now they don't look as small. Some of my friends have been doing their make-up the same way for 20-30 years including their thick kohl eyeliner and over-plucked eyebrows, and need to update -- but I'm not about to tell them! ha ha

Future SLP Women should be able to wear whatever they want. This is just makeup have fun with it, there are no rules. If someone wants rock black eyeliner all around their eyes more power to them. Whether it ages them or not that’s a matter of opinion. I’ll be rocking my black eyeliner until I die. I don’t follow these silly rules.

I’m in my late 40’s and truly am thankful for your time, effort, and money you spend on making these tutorials and showing the good, bad, and ugly using new products. I always watch your evaluation on a product if you have it before I buy it. I’m a mom to a very large family and never have time to just shop and play with products. But I still wanna wear makeup and feel as good as I can about myself. Thank you very much. I appreciate all you do.

OMG such a difference. I showed the finished look (paused) to my husband and he said "wow what a difference!" As someone a bit older than you, but with similar coloring, I'm so grateful for these subtle but critical steps you're sharing! I have a wedding/family reunion coming up in July and have not seen these particular people in 10 years -- the 10 years (age 49-59) that my face has undergone a lot of gravity-related changes. My goal is to go to the weekend looking like I don't have a lot of makeup caked on but also looking my very best. Your tips will make all the difference for me. Thanks so much.

You make an excellent point about adjusting makeup as our face changes. Back in the day I wore a similar look as your "don't" eye which was a "do" in the 1960's for me. Now it's definitely less is more, thinner gray liner vs heavier black. Unfortunately I wasn't blessed with thick dark lashes like my sister and brother so I still need good mascara (Jealous? Who, me? 😄).

I am so happy that I came across your videos. I'm 41 and my face took a hard nose dive over the last few years. I have all of the issues you talk about in your videos. I gave up wearing most makeup and haven't done much for a long time. It just made everything look worse and made me even more self concious. I recently got botox and lip fillers and it helped so much. But it doesn't fix everything. You are the first person in my age range that does makeup videos and advice for older women. Thank you for this tutorial. I really enjoyed seeing how you press the wet dark color eyeshadow into the top of your lash line. You have many tutorials where you have shown this before but it really stood out to me in this one since you make the point to show the difference in the comparison. I have been using eye pencils and though I love the ones I use -- I make sure they are creamy and they glide on easily -- they still can skip at the lash line and I find I am trying to "draw" into the upper lash line to get the same effect as you did here with the wet eyeshadow pressed in with a brush. I am going to finally try this. I think my challenge is that I do not focus on my makeup and I default into my "routine" I have developed over years, and yes, you are so right, at our ages we need to be ready to adjust our methods. Also, I have tried your up-wing but it hasn't seemed quite right on me. I see now that it is because I am going to the end of the eye instead of stopping sooner to go up. A third tip I appreciate in this video is using the lighter color eyeliner for the lower inner half. This does have a dramatic eye opening effect. It all does make a difference. I notice a lot of comments love the "don't" look, but I'm with you, I am always trying to find ways to make my eyes look more open. My eye shape is similar to yours, almond shaped to begin with, so age now makes them look squinty, especially if I am smiling in pictures. Again, thank you Angie, for this specific tutorial! By the way, those earrings are stunning on you!

I always want to start some sort of routine now that I’m just starting to see some fine lines, but there’s so much out there and I don’t want to pay a lot if it’s not worth it. Your video and information was well researched and explained in an easy to comprehend manner. I also appreciated you didn’t just present your favorite products. We all have our favorites too and I do like those type of videos too, but on a topic I don’t know much about I appreciated that you focused of active ingredients vs brand, and also included links to research. Your videos all seem like you put a lot of thought and research into them, so I just wanted to make sure you know that hasn’t gone unnoticed and I for one truly appreciate it and look forward to watching more. I signed up for curolgy using your link. I was intrigued and am a sucker for monthly delivery services, but mainly did because I loved your video so much I felt you should at reward for the work you clearly put in for that video. I know you won’t get much from that, you deserve more, but hey every little helps IMO. 🙌🥰

I absolutely love your channel. I've been desperate for someone to teach me how to do my makeup now that I am 62. I especially have trouble with a crepe look on my lids. Some eyelid moisturizer helps. Currently, I know that if I stay on an anti-inflammatory diet, don't drink alcohol, and drink lots of water, I look fresher, but the makeup is necessary for my career. I discovered you in your video on how to look your best when having video meetings. I had lamps and books and all manner of things on my desk for an important meeting, and I looked straight at the camera, and I felt it helped. Thank you!!

At the 3:48 mark - where you use eyeshadow, that you dampen, for eyeliner - one thing I always use that works magnificently is Eye Drops. Just basic saline solution (CVS/Walgreens eyedrops). 1 drop into the palm of my hand or into a very tiny salt dish to dab my brush into - and there you go. Perfect... and also sterile.

Wowza this Video seems to have caused a bit of a polarizing atmosphere ROFL! I’m late to the party, nothing new there!! ❤️Here’s the thing (from someone that dabbles in the production of films, cable& theatre), Miss Angie’s features are picture perfect, so yes indeed both looks are going to incite a double take when she wears them! She’s a show stopper, period!! But for the rest of us, lighting & makeup technique are going to matter A LOT! In an artificially, lighted setting, makeup isn’t going to look the same as it would in daytime sunshine. I think the helpful lesson being shared is a LIGHTER, UNIVERSALLY FLATTERING version of what can otherwise become the dreaded heavy black liner on eyes over 50!Challenges of deep wrinkles, dry skin, puffiness, redness, problems using products due to skill level, problems using products due to sensitivity and allergen concerns!! THAT sort of eye with heavy black liner is to be discouraged, my fellow Angians!! So this is a way to have a stylishly shadowed & lined EYE, teaching in great detail how to do your own, UNIVERSALLY FLATTERING look, beautifully created with a LIGHT HAND!!!! P.S. What makes Angie’s videos so special to me is the lengths she goes to in order to visually involve her Viewers as she compares products....for instance, she shows how each sunscreen looks (cream, gel, lotion, matte, tinted, white cast, etc) then how quickly (or not lol) each sunscreen applies and absorbs on plain skin, THEN how well the sunscreen does with foundation being applied over the sunscreen.....and on and on!! It’s one thing to talk about the properties of a sunscreen and quite another to actually demonstrate all the differences! Her reviews have saved me $100’s and $100’s of dollars!!! Thank you Miss Angie!!

Another great video. 😂 I'm sorry, but I have never been a "wing" girl. I always thought that was just a little bit too much, however, I have ALWAYS lined the insides of my eyes, and you are the only person I have ever known who does that. I even had the bottom insides of my eyes tattooed black a long time ago and while it has faded a little, it still does the job. My eyes are blue, and it makes a big difference in my appearance. I have tried lighter colors, but black still works better for me (I am now 60). I have to say, that you have the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen, so no matter what you do to your eyes, they are absolutely gorgeous. From what little I can see of you, they are by far, your most amazing feature.

Love your videos! I'm so happy to finally see someone over 50 giving makeup tips and etc. I am 54 almost 55 and also have very hooded crepe loose eyelids. I've tried applying eyeliner both ways but just haven't had any luck yet. I have small eyes and I'm too sensative to tightline. I'll keep trying though. You certainly look beautiful! Hopefully some day I can get better at this makeup thing. Right now everything always looks the same and just blah. I also have such a hard time putting on eyeshadow because of my droopy hooded crepe eyelids. I guess I'm just going to have to watch your videos several times to see if I can get it any better.

I do love the Do eye but if I do my wing like that, that up turned, it would not be smooth from all my wrinkles. I have to bring it more straight out with a slight up turn. I really like using eyeshadow for liner though.

Make up is rather amazing. Yes I see the 'do' eye is much more uplifted, than the 'don't', I'm not a fan personally of drawing into the water lines, though, it's too close to my eyes.

Great tips!!! I have so many clients sit in my chair & tell me how they're "too old for eyeliner" or "black eyeliner is for young people." I ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS show them exactly what you did by not using the liner all the way across & only the 1/3 on bottom. BOOM, they love liner again. I'll definitely add some of your tricks here to my next consultation!

Leah, wear what makes you happy. I'd add, as someone who always rocked a smokey eye look. The moment I crossed the Rubicon (aka, turned 50) into Menopause, dark, heavily-lined eyes are aging and not a flattering look on me. I want to look youthful and refreshed. To each their own. If you love it, wear it.

As I said in the video, there's nothing wrong with the "don't" side... it does make the eye look bigger and is a look anyone can wear, but it's also a look everyone already knows how to do. This video is about showing the difference eyeliner technique can make to help older eyes look more lifted... the "do" side definitely lifts while the "don't" side pulls the eye down.

Great videos. I have a question about deep-set eyes. I have deep-set eyes and I cannot do the dark-color-in-the-crease thing because I already have a shadow there and putting the dark color right there makes me look like a skull! I look like Skeletor trying to find He-Man. It seems like your eyes might be a little deep set also. Could you, or have you already, done a video on this? Thank you.

I loved both eyes actually! Droopy eye corner is not necessarily a sign of age. I think droopy outer corner is sexy in a puppy-innocent kind a way. Marilyn Monroe had a very droopy corner and her eye gaze is everything!!! You don't need a "cat eye" to have sexy eyes!

You did an excellent job explaining that!! The "do" side looked so much fresher and lifted. I see women rimming their eyes the whole way around in thick black liner and although it can look pretty, it definitely makes the eyes look smaller, more deep-set and aged. I have given up on liner years ago for that reason. I will try this for sure!!

This is just my opinion, but I think most people saying the dont side looks better or just as good isnt looking at her whole face either. Look at the still photo before you play the video and really study it. Her whole face (not just the eye) on the "do" side is more lifted than the "dont."

Chari Price I agree. There’s nothing wrong with the ‚don’t‘ side, if you just look at the eye itself....but the other side has an ‚uplifting‘ effect and that’s so so flattering, especially, as you get older!
