Love how the “heather” in the song referring to literal heathers in the animatic! Heathers also have a lot of symbolism; purple ones show beauty, solitude, independence, pink ones show good luck and balance, as well as passion. In general, they can also represent healing from within :D The first purple heathers appear from the wound where Gregory Edgeworth was shot, so they could represent the beginning of Miles Edgeworth’s path of solitude after losing his father. Dahlia also holds purple heathers of a similar shade, which matches most of the purple heather definitions. (Little detail, but most of what would be “red yarn” and paint splatters are a periwinkle color, similar to most of the heather colors in the video.) When Miles falls, he’s surrounded by blue-purple heathers slowly turning a warmer purple, possible representing the beginning of change. Here’s where it gets interesting. Von Karma’s bullet wound is the first time we see pink heathers. Good luck for Wrightworth winning the trial, and balance as they found the correct criminal. Passion might also apply for how hard Phoenix fought to defend Miles. Lastly, when Miles hugs Phoenix! Pink heathers bloom, representing general good feelings. Could also be interpreted as “love in bloom” or moving forwards.

Heterochromia Phoenix is best Phoenix. Headcanon - Phoenix always had mismatched brown/blue eyes, but they freaked out the other school kids, so from childhood onwards wore muted contacts that turned them grayish brown. Edgeworth always needed glasses, his eyesight is pretty bad, but Von Karma said wearing them was a sign of weakness. Edgeworth’s signature glare evolved from having to stare intensely at a thing just to make out the details. Phoenix stopped wearing his contacts around the time Edgeworth stared wearing his glasses.
