This is a beautiful and deep story. I am a Nigerian with nieces and a nephew in the US and I get scared all the time for them. I know sometimes it seems like I am being paranoid but the thought of living in a country where I am judged by my skin color seems scary. I have only lived among people that look like me, and for the most part of my life have had little interactions with other races. My heart goes out to those that have to live with this reality and I truly pray the world becomes more tolerant and respectful to all races.

I like the story. Ratoya and Jesse had great chemistry in their roles. I like the "talk to my pillow" scene😂. Marvelous work Tian Liu you need your own shout out as well !🎉🎉Wonderful work to all background workers in putting together a great a ahort film. I'm nosy and wanted to know what happened next between Carson and Vivian.

This reminds me of my first love. My family and I had just moved to the East side of Detroit. I met my first love in Church. He was 7 years old and I was 6 years old. So fast forward seven years later when he was 14/15 and I was 13/14. The Dynamics changed. We started to "really" like each other. He was Hispanic and Italian. We lived in a totally multi-cultural and multi-ethnic neighborhood. He was so Handsome...so kind...so loving...so fierce...so loyal...so protective of me. We would have deep talks and discussions like they did in this movie. However; unlike the movie, I was fortunate enough not to get pregnant. My Mama didn't play that ( His visiting times with me were regulated to the steps on the front porch, while my Mama kept watch over us from inside the house. 😂😂😂) and neither did His Mama play that. ( He would always find a way to come by and see me against her wishes....She couldn't stand the fact of him wanting to be with me....A Black girl...She didn't understand why he would prefer to stay in perpetual trouble and punishment with her...unless we were having S*x ). However; the truth of the matter was that we both were virgins. Life was different and innocent back then in 1977 then it is now. But that year also became a tumultuous year for me. My Step-dad passed away and his Mama didn't like the fact that her Handsome son...( Think Tom Welling in Smallville ) was falling in love with a Pretty Black girl..( Think Trina McGee in Boy Meets World ). It was fine and all good when we were little kids and that we were just friends. But it hit differently when we became teenagers. Unfortunately my Mom moved us out of Detroit. We ended up breaking up because of those extenuating circumstances. To this very day I often think of him. I just hope that wherever He is; He's Happy, Healthy, and doing Well.❤

Did you ever think about searching for him?
@wow4real142
@wow4real142 Ай бұрын
@rhonda5056 Hi Rhonda. Thank you for asking....I have thought about searching for him and for the most part, I know his last known address. And according to this information; He's only a couple of cities away from me and It's about a 45 minute drive. But here's the problem... He's married to the woman his Momma wanted him to be with in the first place. His mother preferred blonde women for her sons. Every single one of his 6 brothers ( a total of 9 sons ) married blonde women. Two of his brothers passed away before they got married. The only one who didn't marry a blonde was his oldest brother. His wife was a Brunette and boy did she catch it from her MIL...( And by the way...The Brunette sister-in-law was friends with my mother...😆😆😆talk about irony ). In the meantime, 47 years have passed since we broke up...I don't want to pop up 47 years later and have him relive the trauma of our breakup. So for now, I just pray that he's Happy and doing well. But I ain't going to lie...my heart still misses him Dearly!!!

When I first heard Jesse speak the first think I said was “he sounds like Tyler Posey” and then I saw his name in the end credits and realized it’s his brother. A family full of great actors.

I understand both sides. It's a fine line, unfortunately it's a reality.. as a Black mom it's a harsh & sad reality that most people don't understand if they're not Black. I used to tell my white friends that my reality is totally different from yours. The talk that i have with my son about the world, would never enter your mind to have with your white son.

This is so real and sometimes it does not end well while in other instances it does. His family not seeing color is a bit alarming because it perpetuates the problematic notion of not acknowledging her entirety as a person. Nonetheless, I appreciated that she still felt welcomed in his family. That's important. Overall, I enjoyed watching this short film. I'm definitely going to share it with others.

Sad to say but those kinds of conversation are needed

Now I have a question: Why should all those issues arise after they have a child on the way? They didn't have that kind of discussion before having a child? They knew that their future unborn baby would be biracial obviously, right? Unless the pregnancy was unplanned?
@williams4productions
@williams4productions 2 ай бұрын
@@ManissaSoubrayen It's not that these issues just came up-Carson consciously avoided these difficult conversations because they hurt him too much. Unfortunately, situations like this do occur, where couples don't have important life conversations until it's too late.

@@williams4productions Yeah and that’s unfortunate like you said… Very few couples actually have those types of important discussions during courtship or while dating.

@ManissaSoubrayen... Not necessarily but no one is able to prepare for everything (and whatever fears she had were deeply hidden until the baby became real to her). Still? I'm glad she isn't my mother as I'd have grown up neurotic and having a deep disdain for (some) others based primarily on the fear of my mother. Blaming people for judging you according to the color of your skin while doing the same thing? It's absolutely nuts....

She is living with trauma and needs to deal with her own fears and then deal with reality. The worst thing is to pass your fears along to your children. Reality with logic.

I respectfully agree with you! I also believe that some people’s lives are so riddled with complex trauma and tragedy that it’s difficult to heal from all of the things.
