I found it to have a condradicting plot twist. Depicting the Irish as the villian but yet subjected to the same cruel treatment in one part but given preferred treatment in another part. Considering both the Irish and blacks were slaves at one time. But its only a movie. It would be nice to see more movies depicting the real reason how and why the Irish came to America and what happened to them when they did and how they over came the obstacles thrown at them while fighting for not just their own but everyone's freedom.

They pitted the poor against the poor for work and lands. This was a very effective way to keep the majority (Poor) from rioting against the Rich (minority). The poor had the numbers and our ancestors were tricked into believing other poor people were the real problem. The rich accented our differences to create fear. It was never about race but survival and money. Every time a new mass of strong immigrants arrived they were targeted. The faster they adapted and joined forces with other groups the less likely they were oppressed.
@missstandoffishamy64102 ай бұрын
Because the oppressed can STILL OPRESS. Also Chattle slavery and the Irish famine are in no way the same. We are talking apples to oranges here. This however does not negate what happend to the Irish. Oppression is still oppression. BUT, historically the Irish being enslaved was nothing compared to chattle slavery of Africans OR the holocaust. This is a FACT.
@christianamcguire8662 ай бұрын
@@missstandoffishamy6410 All nationalities or heritages that were involved in being enslaved have the right to have their side of the story told on the genocide of their people. Regardless of what side feels they got the worse treatment. To downsize one sides pain to illuminate another's sides pain to be more severe doesn't even make sense. It was all wrong. That's the FACT. Also tell that to a person of Irish descent who sees through the fog of b.s therefore refuses to allow the unfair, ill treatment of their people to be just swept under the rug in favor of another nationality nor will they allow others to cloak themselves in their energies to tell their stories of abuse and contempt while their own stories are being downplayed rendering them as the culprits in many cases. Which still goes on till this day. Until a person has experienced this and how deep it goes, they can not comprehend. The potato famine was just the beginning. But all sides deserve to be told.
