Sunshine 🌞 State here. My sweet potato 🥔 plants all suffered from power leaf mole and white flies so now no leaves for me to enjoy with my salads. S0 sad 😔 still waiting for it to cool down here in Florida. It is by far the worse year for gardening and farming. PEACE and blessings 🙏

Gardening is fun. It's a great way to get 'fresh' food. What is remarkable is that it isn't very hard to produce food. No huge yards, just some thinking, cheap to get cartons, soil and water. I've been doing more and more as my wife love food right after picking. Okra tastes better, she loves young eggplant and fresh peppers. Now working on potatoes. These videos encourage to try different varieties of food. Thanks to EY Gardening.

Did you know that the leaves of Sweet Potatoes are a vegetable? You can cook them like this. Get enough leaves, wash them and leave them to drip the water out. Take 1 big onion and 2 medium tomatoes and fry them. Once cooked, put the leaves in the mixture and fry for about 4 minutes. Then it's ready. We usually eat that with Nshima also called Bugali. It's cooked using Maize flour or Mealie meal. Just try it. It's very very taste.

Sweet potatoes mature in 90 to 170 days and they're extremely frost sensitive. Plant in full sun three to four weeks after the last frost when the soil has warmed. Make holes 6 inches deep and 12 inches apart. Bury slips up to the top leaves, press the soil down gently but firmly, and water well.

If you want bigger tube roots, by the time your sweet potatoes leaves start drying leaves, check with a stick or any garden tool for the first roots and remove them can be one per basket to allow other growing roots avoid competition for minerals and trust me by the end of the harvest you will have same sized tube roots of potatoes.its what we do here in Africa

BE careful applying chicken manure , its high in nitrogen and that will cause more leaves and less root formation. Also , Its a hot manure and it can burn your foliage and root systems . Instead , use rabbit manure, it wont burn but its also high in nitrogen, so use less, but its a cold manure and wont burn your foliage or roots. Its great for any leafy plants , no odor .

I mean - we grow 400 to 500 row feet each of 3 varieties every year - a literal ton (2,000+ pounds this yea) of harvest - and dump near pure, pelletized Nitrogen on them at planting and twice during the season. I dont know where the "too much nitrogen" bullshitery got started, nor why it persists. To get big tubers you need big, healthy, robust, vigorous tops. The bigger and greenwr the top vine growth, the bigger and better the tubers. You csn safely dismiss the "too much nitrogen" myth, folks. Its a load of hoo-ha from folks who have no clue.

Yeah we are making sweet potato leaves salad here in the Philippines. We choose not so matured leaves together with the stem. Wash them with water, while still wet put in a hot pan then cover it a few mins it is already cooked then you placed it in a plate.. add chopped onions, tomatoes, salt, a little bit ground black pepper and chili sauce.. . It is cheap but nutritious.. (sori for my grammar.. hehehe)
