IMPORTANT!!: If your Joyo flange starts making a slow loud whining sound like a siren falling and rising, and it doesn't go away even if you decouple the power source and restore it, *make sure you check it with a fresh battery or power supply* before returning it! It seems to do that freaky thing when it gets insufficient power, even though the LED burns strong (unlike Boss pedals whose LED's dim when the battery gets weak). I thought my unit had gone defective when it started making that sound. Turns out the battery was low on juice. Fortunately a new battery fixed it easily and now it's the same sweet sounding, quality flanger that costs way less than it should, just like when I bought it.

A surprisingly nice, full sound, ranging from subtle chorus to classic flange. Thanks for the video!

Awesome demo! definitely one of the best pedal demos I have seen on youtube. This also goes for the rest of the joyo/harleybenton pedal series. Keep up the great work!

Love your demo's - very charismatic and informative. It is also good how you show pedals in a track context. Regen is best thought of as Feedback or Resonace.and is the main difference between Chorus and Flanging. Therefore a Flanger pedal can be used for both Chorus and Flanger sounds for the musos on a tight budget. The Flange is the metal tape reel. The Beetles, John Lenon used the effect by having a pair of reel-to-reel tape machines both with the same tracks, synced together and when played back pressing on the metal flange slowed one of the tape machines down slightly to get this type of effect. The Delay control is a very short deal say 3 or 4 milliseconds to 20 milliseconds.

Thanks Pete, very helpful. I remember the Tape Reel story from my production classes.

Hi Harley! So, would you recomend buying a Classic Flanger instead of a Classic Chorus pedal? I'm not sure but the Chorus pedal seems to have more dedicated chorus effect. I am thinking about buying a Joyo Chorus pedal. What would you say about? Thank you, and great video!
@andreacaccese11 жыл бұрын
cool review :-) about the delay time, it seems to me that what it does is actually setting how fast will the flanging start from what you are playing: if you play a chord with short delay value, the flanging will be immediate, while if you you put the delay on the other side and play a chord, you can see that it takes a little longer!

Can i get the sound of van halen with this and the hot plexi? And how do i modificate the flanger cause seems it's difficult. And you make really good reviews.

Bit late to this video, but the backing track that runs through it is just MEGA!!! It that yours as well? What pedals did you use for that, this flanger and what else? It sounds like old Cocteau Twins, really atmospheric. Nicely done, thank you.

Thanks to You, i discovered and bought Joyo Classic Flanger and Digital Delay, also Harley Benton power plant Jr. Very good sound but i have question, when both of them are turned off signal is normal, when one is turned on volume goes down ( no matter which one) but when both of them are turned on volume again is normal. I have them placed in FX Loop in Marshall JVM 410. Did you have something similar with this pedals? I suspect that is Marshall Loop problem, but other pedals have no effect on volume such like joyo produce. By The way, perfect work with reviews.
@EytschPi4210 жыл бұрын
That is strange, the individually influence volume, but not together... I have not discovered anything like that, sorry.

not exactly, it takes out a lot of your low end so it is kiiiind of a volume drop

@@BobCorey That's odd. Mine happpens to boost the volume just a little bit, but not much. Maybe since mine is the non harley benton one with a jet on it.

I would suspect that Robin Trower uses a "Flanger" to great effect, on many of his famous tunes! It can be quite an interesting effect, if not overused! Thanks!!! ; D
@strassercaster9 жыл бұрын
sorry you suspect wrong. Robin trower uses an original Shin ei univibe on bridge of sighs album. he still uses Univibe i. the chorus setting. its not really chorus though. A univibe is an out of time 4 stage phaser. so if you want that Trower sound get a univibeor a modern reproduction such as the Mojo Vibe or the deja vibe. I made my own with a circuit board from madbean pedals called the Harbingor one

I really wouldn't do that!
@Pirinola479 жыл бұрын
because of the sound? or can i have problems with the hardware?
@EytschPi429 жыл бұрын
because of the sound... this thing is very bass heavy and has a lot of gain. You'll end up with a very very muddy sound.

+EytschPi42 I have to object that. I recently bought it just for fun to try it on my bass, with the intent of giving it to our guitar guy should I dont like it as it is only 30€ Well, let's say he'll need to buy his own flanger. It sounds really nice no matter what, no gain issues and no noticeable bass heavynes. Of cours you are going to loose some deffinition, but that is to expect with any kind of filter effect. Basically it sounds exactly like I would expect from a bass flanger. I was thinking about getting a used BF-2 but this thing does everything I want and more. Subtle, chorus-like to moderate (Tools 46&2 sound can be done) up to full on jetplane and Self oscillation (which i heard the BF-2 is not that good at), that sounds really nice with some OD in front of it. So yeah, I can only recommend it to Bassist looking for a nice and affordable flanger!
