Why does no one ever mention that this new version has a USER replaceable battery?? That’s such a huge thing for people who don’t have the ability to solder batteries to a PCB. It also eliminates the problem of trying to find tabbed batteries that are actually GOOD, which is almost impossible because all the ones on Amazon and eBay are usually ten year old DOA batteries from China.
@TV-xc5ut2 жыл бұрын
What is that battery used for? I’m debating on which cart to buy. Thanks
@Vmurph2 жыл бұрын
@@TV-xc5ut It depends on the flashcart. Some use it to store temporary save files until they’re written to the EPROM. And some use it for the RTC. Some use it for both. RTC (real time clock) is important for games that have time-based events, like Pokémon that are only available at nighttime or daytime, or high/low tide that gives us access to Shoal Cave in R/S/E, where you can catch rare Pokémon. Berry growing requires RTC, too. There are a few other GBA games that use time based events, but Pokémon R/S/E are the biggest ones.

@NEVERKNOWSBE5T Жыл бұрын
I just got recommended this and thought i'd throw in my 2 cents. I bought this EZ Flash Omega DE about a year ago and didn't use if for the first few months as I was playing other games. Literally after using it maybe 3 or 4 times I kept getting a S71 error. I followed an offical Ezflash guide on GBA temp to fix this error which included using a recovery image to flash the cart, trying a different GBA system and SD card, I even used my hot air station to try reflow the chip which actually did fix it but only for a few days until the error came back. I eventually gave up and sent it back and got a replacement since I was within the 12 month warranty. Hey guess what, after literally 1 month this brand new EZflash Omega cartridge has the same S71 error issue. I cut my losses and just bought an everdrive x5. After 2 months of heavy use (almost everyday for a few hours) so far my everdrive is working perfectly fine. It's more expensive and lacks the features that the EZflash Omega DE has but at least it works long term. I honestly think it's something to do with the new spartan chip LX16 (rev 2 model EZODE) because the old LX9 spartan chip (rev 1 model OMEGA DE) models I've never heard of any issues. The guy making this video has the rev 1 model (you can tell because it says Omega DE on the back) which uses the spartan chip LX9 which further cements this idea that the newer models of the EZFLASHDE the Rev 2 EZODE ones suck and and are completely unreliable compared to the old ones that use the Spartan LX9 chips. tl;dr just buy an everdrive x5 or try find an old rev 1 version of the Ezflash DE (the one that says OMEGA DE in white letters on the back) because the EZODE rev 2 version from my experience will brick on you for no reason as someone who has now had 2 of them with the same problem

If only customs would not rob me for ordering things from for example the US, high cost items get charged high taxes by customs, an order of say $ 150 can easily go up to $ 250 - $ 300 due to the customs taxes, which is insane, the increased price of just an actual everdrive is not something I care too much about, it is the outrageous taxes charged by customs in my country that bothers me, $ 130 for an everdrive gba is fine, $ 300 is not, that is just stupid, hope the ez flash I ordered is going to be fine, as due to the insane custom taxes an actual everdrive is not an acceptable option to me

I've had an EZ Flash Jr for over a year, which has had very few problems. Only a couple of games that it wouldn't save for some reason, and then the RTC is bugged out in Pokemon Prism. Hard to hold that last one against the EZ Flash since it is a ROM hack. The other two games I can easily play on my Powkiddy V90, so not the end of the world. I did recently get an EZ Flash Omega (non-DE) and I absolutely hated it. No matter how much time I'd give it to save after switching off my GBA, my saves would get corrupted. I even tried using the third party "Simple" kernel to make automatic backups of the save files, and those all got corrupted as well. I thought it might have been an SD card issue, being the Walmart store brand, but I use the same brand and size card in both my V90 and PSP with zero issues. To top it off, the RTC wouldn't work properly. Even after replacing the battery, the clock would either reset itself completely, or jump nearly 100 years forward. Didn't take me long to get rid of it and replace it with the Omega DE. The Omega DE, using the same SD card that I had in my original Omega, simply just works. The RTC works perfectly so far, with no resetting or massive time jumps. And it doesn't corrupt my save files at all. Add in the rumble feature for Drill Dozer (which is now one of my favorite games), the easily replaceable clock battery, along with the obviously better build quality, and this is easily worth spending the extra $20 to $30 over the original Omega. Regardless of what you choose, however, make sure you make regular backups of your SD card. I don't care if it's the cheapest Chinese SD card available, or if it's a SanDisk made out of gold; BACK IT UP REGULARLY! I try to make it a point to dump the contents of all my SD cards to their own respective zip file, and then I upload them to my Google Drive. Doing this meant that, when my Omega did corrupt my save data, I only lost one hour of progress vs almost twenty.

They work even on normal edition, I can assure you. But if it glitches out and freezes then you need to flash it. It works 100% as long as you can run it on real hardware through other carts, you can with this too. Most of my Pokémon games on my original Omega are hackrom and when flashed they work perfectly.

You say there's nothing else to mention about the form factor, but you left out one critical piece of information. Information that had I known, would have steered me away from purchasing the definitive edition instead going with the baseline Omega. I can even see it when you plug the cartridge into the back of your gameboy advance. And that's pertaining to the actual size of the cartridge. The DE is a bit larger, which means it doesn't sit flush with the console. This is important to me since I have a gameboy micro. That, and aesthetics just being something I prioritize. So no bueno on your part bro. Shame shame

Game Boy and Game Boy Color games play using emulation. The Game Boy color emulator is not that great
