Check out this simple EZ OIL drain hose kit devise for your small engine.
I am installing this on on a 14 HP VANGUARD Engine but the same type could be used on the KOHLER CH440 as well as HONDA GX 390.
A variation of this could help with cleaner oil changes on most any small engine.

Yes, the larger opening will drain the oil faster. What's the big rush? I use the red hose that he did not like. I come back in 10 minutes later, and all the oil is out of the engine. The advantage of the red hose is I don't have to make anything. I can buy it and install it in less than 10 minutes. I'm not criticizing this man's improvement, I just don't see that it's worth the additional effort.

@TheRustyRooster
@TheRustyRooster 4 ай бұрын
All items should be available from a good hydraulic shop. 3/8 push-lock hose, with 3/8 push-lock fittings. And the metric adapter depends on what engine you install it on.
@ronjclm8590
@ronjclm8590 Жыл бұрын
Good idea! you said that these pieces could be acquired at a hydraulic hose shop. A link to sites and the name of the parts would be helpful. Google tells me that Grainger has the "push on hose fittings" that look like yours but the adapter from the engine to the push on fitting...is it stainless steel ? I put something like the red hose on a standup commercial mower and it broke off and dumped the oil. Fortunately, since I was standing on the mower running it at the time. I noticed it and shut the engine before it could get destroyed.

Hi Rusty and thanks for putting together this video. I have a Kohler CH440 on my stump grinder. In my searches, I'm seeing some folks calling out a 12mm thread and others thinking that it was changed to a 3/8" NPT. You mentioned the 12mm. Can you verify the pitch of that? My plan is to be ready with both fittings when I make a mess with my first oil change so I upgrade to your tubing set up minus the angle fitting as I really don't want to unbolt the motor. Thanks. Oh yeah, I forgot to ask where you get the adapter fitting with the o-ring seal?
@TheRustyRooster
@TheRustyRooster Ай бұрын
Hey Hey Iceman, that CH440 Indeed has 12mm x 1.5 pitch threads. I order them from my local hydraulic shop, I have found them on the good ol AMAZON. Male end is 12.5mm x 1.5, x 1/4FPT. You my find that you need to loosen the engine to install.

Thanks fella I sure appreciate that... I'm not sure about your lift, but mine is electric over hydraulic. Yep, like yours, it came from junkyard with out control. I wired 2 garbage disposal switches together. 1 for up one for down. 1 powers the lift, the 2nd controls the pressure release solenoid.... hope that helps

@@TheRustyRooster Thanks for the reply. I looked up the drain plug part number for this engine and then the specs (some online folks were kind enough to post what the OEM likes to keep as 'trade secret' Lol).
