Thank you so much for putting this up, and putting this system together! This video really helped it sink in just how flexible this system is, despite it being so rule-light. I am still waiting for my book to arrive, but I hosted my first EZD6 game earlier tonight and we all had an absolute blast. My players even enjoyed the props for their strikes and karma I picked up, following your advice. Everyone ended up using their physical representations for it rather than their character sheets - a major win in my opinion. :)

I am loving the simplicity of EZD6, yall are great. I've been DMing a long time but still have al long way to go. I'm currently reworking Shadowrun's system for some homebrew lore. Just had to give my kudos to your design. I am going to give it a try next for sure. I love crunch but there is so much to be said about simplicity and it's boon to the story tellers (GM and players).

Having a lot of fun watching this. Ezd6 has been the system I've used to play "dnd" for months now. I have a lot of fun adapting the pre written content for dnd using this system. Curse of strahd using ezd6? Yup I did that. Lost mines? I did that too. My players who insist on playing classes and races they know I've used what scotty has in the book with some very minor tweaks to give them more of the flavor they are looking for. The games moves much faster and as a dm I feel like the chains are broken and I'm free to focus on the story and atmosphere etc rather than looking up rules I always for get while also having to know what my players can do more then they'll ever put the effort into knowing. This is a perfect system for one shots , and while I understand the criticism in regards for character advancement In a longer campaign I found much of this is remedied by giving thr players new magic items and every few sessions an extra strike. (Just make sure they are being presented with more difficult monsters it can be a tricky balance) What I would love is a cleaner break down for hp to strike conversion for monsters (I've mostly just used comparable monsters in this book to get an idea) for example a monster in dnd with 100 hp might have 10 strikes or whatever. Anyway love this game , it's a treasure in my collection.

The game is awesome, the system is great, the players are great, and the music is very fitting. My only but here is that the music is on the loud side. I think the music should have been a lower volume but other than that great job guys!

So I doubt this is the ideal place to post critiques but one thing I noticed was as I was working through the book with my buddy before our first play test I realized there's no list of boons in the book and the sorta actions that each boon could govern. I understand you could throw I ball using strength dexterity intelligence or wisdom but for first timers that are used to something like 3rd edition which over explains everything it'd be helpful to have a quick reference list with the boons. I'll be honest tho it could be in the back of the book cause so far that's only got a cursory glance I usually go for index before glossary when referencing and then I find everything I've actually been miasing

Yep, no hard and fast list. If a player has a boon and they can make a case for it let them use it.

I'm intrested in trying this system. My only concern is dealing with a power gamer. Having to argue with them constantly. Yes you have telekinesis. But you can't through a mountain at someone. Rules light doesn't mean no rules. But lets see how it works out.

Awesome video guys, I am planning to run EZD6 for my D&D group eventually. Can't wait to see how they will take to this game. Btw, maybe I missed something, but if anyone could clarify how grappling works? Is it just winged by the RR? Or is it like a condition where you can't move? Does it give a bane to melee or ranged maybe? I'm assuming you couldn't move... am I ovethinking it here?

Basically, you are just restrained, so can't move but can break free with a content roll on your turn. I give a bane to any other roll besides breaking free.

I have a question regarding "boon" or rolling with advantage. What happens if you roll a "1" when rolling in these cases. A "1" is an automatic failure, does that mean, that the skillcheck automatically fails, or will the "1" be disregarded, because it is a worse result than the other roll, provided that you do not roll two "1"s?

Always take the highest die rolled with a boon. A '1' in a roll only affects magick or miracles.

Hello DM Scotty, I just bought your book and I have to say I’m loving every bit of it. However, I have a question regarding a certain stat block. For Demon (Greater), it’s immolate ability calls for targets to make a miraculous save to avoid damage, yet the demon also has 5d6 magical ability, implying targets would instead roll magical resistance to avoid damage. Is this simply an exception case where this demons magical ability is instead avoided by a miraculous save? Or are the magical ability die perhaps for regular spell casting? Any help you can provide here would be much appreciated!

It is a bit confusing; first, it will make an innate magick attack at 5D6 to immolate a target. If that works, the target will continue to burn unless a miraculous save is made. Bursting into a fireball if it is killed is just a miraculous save.

I'm sorry to continue with the questions, but there's a couple other monsters I have questions about here. 1) For the Festoid, it says the pustules permeating their lair inflict one strike if touched, but then goes on to say that if in the area of the lair, each hero is hit on a 4+, and can make a miraculous save to avoid the damage. It also says afterwards that the chance for a pustule to be set off becomes a 6+ if the characters are being careful. How would this work exactly? If a character touches a pustule, would I as the RR roll, and on a 4+ that character takes damage unless they can then succeed on a miraculous save? Or is it perhaps that if a character deliberately touches a pustule, they take 1 guaranteed strike, and if they happen to run into one, they make a save/get hit on a 4+? 2) Secondly for the Grubber, it states that characters should make a miraculous save to avoid being stolen from, but also says they get boon dice for strength. Does the character get this boon dice or the grubber? And if so, for how long? This doesn't appear to be a contest of any kind, so what does this boon dice in strength do in this situation? Is it perhaps for if a character wants to forcibly remove a grubber from their person? Thank you very much for any clarification you can provide. Once again, loving the book so far! It's been exactly what I've been looking for in a TTRPG system.

At the moment, we do not have an OGL as we have a few more books to produce first, but we fully intend to open the system to OGL. And our OGL will not be revoked or changed.

So sorry to bother you again Scotty! I love the game, and my players love it sooooo much. But we are confused about one thing still: Miraculous Saves vs Magic Resistance Dice When the heroes are subject to monster abilities such as breath weapons and spells. When can the heroes use the Magic Resistance Dice (1d6 for all paths except Friars & Brutes that get 2D6), and when can they use their miraculous save. Take a dragons breath, that is both magical and somewhat of an avoidable ability right? Shouldn't the rogue get to use his boosted Miraculous Save 2d6 instead of his 1D6 Magic Resistance? I get that when the monsters use strictly magic then the heroes should only get the Magic Resistance die/dice. Or shouldn't they? Or do they get to avoid with a miraculous save and then use magic resistance? I am unsure as to when I should allow/apply these two types of saves. Or maybe I am misreading the rules? Is Magic resistance die the same as Miraculous Save dice? Is it the same mechanic? But then again; it can't be the same mechanic because Miraculous Save has a fixed target number like 5 or 6 and the Magic Resistance Dice just needs to beat the monsters magic attack dice... I looove this system, but I can't seem to find anyone addressing this point...

No worries, If an innate magick attack happens, all the players roll magick defense, Those who beat the final attack # are safe, and those who are equal or below are afflicted. So if facing a Dragon, I highly recommend fire resistance magick items.

A miraculous Save would then be used in the case of the Dragon if you were hit by the breath. If on fire, make a miraculous save or take another strike. In this case, if a player takes their move action to stop, drop and roll, I give them a boon in the miraculous save.

Can you explain to me the mosnter stat block that says… 4d6 to resist magic and magical ability 5d6? I bought your pdf and im referring to greater demon. Im not sure what resist magic 4d6 and magical ability 5d6 means in the monster stats. Also like medusa has a magigical ability dice.. what is that referring too? Love the game so far!

Glad to help. Most enemies resist magick at 1D6. If a magickal resistance is listed, then the creature rolls that many dice to resist, and the target # is the highest die rolled.

The magickal ability refers to the creature's innate magical ability. See details at the bottom of page 54. So glad you are enjoying the game.

On its turn, it can immolate a target up to far range. it picks a hero, rolls the 5D6, and takes the highest die rolled, say a 5. The hero has to roll a magick resistance of 6 to not be affected. If they fail they are lit on fire and must make a miraculous save next round or take another strike from the fire damage...ouch.

yes, but remember that you can only gain 1 a round. So even if you fail more, you max out with 1 unless you have 'victory in failure' where you can get 2 a round.
