I liked the one from CBC Newfoundland where a former classmate of his said that he earned $10 an academic paper when he would dash one off for a less endowed student and get him an A. Hey! That's my alma mater! Good ol' Memorial. What a rogue Rex Murphy was!

Great tribute. I was thoroughly enjoying Rex's collaborations with Jordon Petersen during their Trudeau evaluations. I never tired listening to them dissect Trudeau's endless shortcomings, social afflictions, conditions and complexes. They really nailed down what a terrible, terrible leader Trudeau really is. Who will now hold this Liberal economic imbecile of a Svengali to account, with Rex gone. Everyone must step forward and follow in Rex's footsteps to rid this nation of the worst leader to ever screw it up.

Beautifully done Ezra. To think CBC does nothing right I must vehemently disagree. It's thanks to the CBC for introducing Rex Murphy, as it turned out, the Randall McMurphy of the CBC to the multitudes across this once proud Nation. What's left there is little more than a Cookoo's Nest. RIP Rex.

Rosemary Barton front and center of the CBC Cookoo's Nest. Is their biased bs "At Issue" Panel still on? I quit watching their "flagship news" a long time ago. This taxpayer is sick of funding the pro-Liberal, free publicity department for the Liberal Party of Canada. DEFUND THE CBC, PRIVATIZE, SELL THEM OFF.

Dear Ezra! You, Mainlander, you! As a former room-mate of mine out by High Park said to me about a fellow telephone operator 50 years ago, "One of our operators is from Newfoundland and she is a really nice girl, but, you know, I have noticed that she swears a lot. LOLOL! Most Newfoundlanders may not have read the OED, but they certainly have an incredible knowledge of profanity. I imagine you know that you can subscribe to the OED on line, right? Go for it. I have the microprint edition and I consult it regularly with my handy dandy magnifiying glass that comes with it. Another great book is Dr George Story's and others, "Dictionary of Newfoundland English". Did Rex consult that, too?

Rex was also very humorous. Even when he was quite serious about a topic he could craft his barbs in a way that made the person or topic look quite foolish. He seemed to lean to the left but by the time he left the CBC his old "friends" began to call him "far right" whatever the hell that means.

rickmars8581: I agreed with many of his opinions when he talked/wrote about Canadian affairs - he knew the facts, and he spoke from his heart, a true Canadian who deeply cared about his country. In international affairs and events, though, he really showed too little knowledge to make himself competent enough to form informed opinions. Case in point was his opinion about Putin or, as he pronounced the name, Pew-tin. He never cared to learn the correct pronunciation, and he never cared to go beyond the mass-media biased two-dimensional half-truths. In one of his CBC videos he called Putin a dictator, compared him to ISIS, and said that those two were the greatest threats in the world. In another one he compared Putin to Obama whom he disliked - an invalid comparison. He knew so little about the history of Russia, Russians, Ukraine (which he called a sovereign country). As a Russian-Canadian, I felt offended by his cliched and ridiculous opinions and his pompous manner of expressing them. So, this is my ranting obituary, Rex. RIP.

There were a few lefties show up on tributes to Rex (MSN linked stories) taking pot shots at Rex Murphy on his passing. Some others and i left them an appropriate response. Like their leader Trudeau, not an ethical bone in their bodies. No one could match Rex in words or turn of phrase. At least CBC's ex-anchor, Peter Mansbridge, wrote a glowing tribute to Rex. That didn't go over well with a few of the Liberal sycophants, two of whom had to bash Rex multiple times throughout the comments on MSN. MSN, where censorship is valued when it's conservatives trying to comment. RIP Rex. Defund the CBC, a shadow of itself after journalists of Rex's caliber left. Like the joke Rosemary Barton, Mansbridge would fawn over Justin Trudeau too.
